  1. At that point, Buxton, Sano, and Berrios are 2-3 years away from free agency. Best to wait until the next next wave of prospects comes up to supplement the prospects of 2020. And by 2024 this core will be gone, the wave of prospects we were waiting on in 2020 is 2-3 years away from free agency. Best to wait until the next next next wave of prospects to come up in 2028 before making a big trade.
  2. This seems like putting the cart before the horse if I'm reading this correctly. Lewis, Kiriloff, and Graterol are going to be better players than Buxton, Sano, and Berrios?
  3. I would love to acquire either one of those pitchers.
  4. That's because you did read those posts in past years. I'm going to fill you in on a dirty little secret. If you keep pushing out the timeline 3 years from now, no one will notice! It's also the beauty of prospect reports. Prospects are more mysterious and intriguing if they're 3 years from their 'ETA'
  5. Meniscus. I don't understand your logic. The rehab is taking 5-6 months and he's missing the rest of the season. That's not a major injury?
  6. Option 1 requires a lot of hope that things work out. And you want to rely on Castro starting again after a torn ACL?
  7. It's either going to take a gem of a prospect + middle tier prospects, or 2-3 good to great prospects. Depends on what Miami prefers. The debate in TX is whether they should offer Kyle Tucker #15-20 overall prospect or Forrest Whitley #10 overall + C/B- level prospects.
  8. That's true for all sports. Who cares. It's not meant for us. It's meant for the 10 year old version of ourselves that thought it was really cool all of the stars were on one field. At least the game doesn't determine who gets home field advantage in the World Series. Which may be the dumbest sports decision ever.
  9. Thanks for the recommendation of Succession. I'm interested to see where that story goes.
  10. It's not like Mauer is playing every day right now. There's room next year to have him play 100 games as a fill in starter at 1B/DH. I think we're putting the cart before the horse with Rooker. Let him earn his way into the lineup instead of handing it to him.
  11. This is their best chance to win 6 games in a row! Enjoy the moment.
  12. I'd feel good about their chances if they played Baltimore and KC 75 more times... Alas.
  13. Nice to see the Twins win against teams they should beat. Baltimore is very bad, and about to get worse when they trade Machado, Britton, and Adam Jones.
  14. After last offseason it's certainly possible agents adjust their method and advise players to accept the QO.
  15. If he cared about that, he would have asked for a trade years ago. Without knowing him personally, it sure seems like all he wants to do is play for his home state's team, and be close to his family.
  16. They have players to offer. 4 prospects on top 100 lists. Lewis being the gem of the organization. The question remains is it smart to give up the assets necessary to make the trade? Not sure if I can answer that anymore given how badly this season has gone.
  17. I'm right there with you. Problem is are we going to say keep Gibson in June 2019? I don't have any confidence saying that. It's possible he is experiencing a Charlie Morton-like improvement that's sustainable through his early 30s. But I've been burned time and time again by Gibby.
  18. Casual fans don't care about this team. My mom said it best while they were visiting... Her and my dad attended over 20 games last summer. She knew the typical lineup. This year? She asked who that player was batting 5-9 in the lineup. My response is it doesn't matter he's not going to stick around in the future. The on field product isn't going to generate more interest this season. Or probably next season either. They better upgrade the beer and food options again at Target Field....
  19. Good thing the person who bought into the strategy of drafting relievers and convert them to starters is no longer here. 2 good months of Duffey in 2015 is all we got from that strategy. Along with multiple blown arms.
  20. From the other teams' point of view, I would imagine their priority list to target is: Escobar Gibson Duke/Rodney Dozier Odorizzi
  21. From what I'm reading on Twitter it's about the same. FB around 88-90 MPH and a couple of times hitting 91.
  22. Throw a dart for someone who was a better option than Hughes... He was on the 25 man roster for 2 months in 2016, 2+ months in 2017, and another month in 2018 before cutting the cord. Haley spent 4 weeks on staff, then another 6 weeks on the DL, and jettisoned off the roster on July 14th. A lot of time for someone not worth a spot on the 40 man. All of the examples I mentioned are from the Falvine era. We also didn't touch upon Breslow, who spent 3+ months in the bullpen with poor results. Overall that's a lot of time they could have used trying out different players. And potentially not losing players that have gone on to pitch on other MLB teams.
