  1. Really surprised Castro hasn’t been traded yet. I thought he might be our 2nd best trading asset…….
  2. Love these G&G episodes, but I wish Aaron would stop saying Kirilloff is a poor defender. That simply is not true!
  3. The Twins are in first place today, but shouldn’t be complacent. 1.) The everyday number of strikeouts cannot continue if they plan on going anywhere in the playoffs. The failure to make contact with runners in scoring position, especially with less than 2 outs, would be deadly. 2.) The Gallo experiment must end. It is embarrassing that a major league team, especially a contending one, continues to give the strikeout machine additional at bats. 3.) As Nick pointed out, the pitching staff needs to get rid of the dead wood, and at least consider options like Varland and Funderburk. 4.) What does the roster look like when Kirilloff and Buxton return?
  4. I’ll just add a couple more Gallo comments. If the Twins are worried about playing a 1B the rest of the year? Just play Solano there. He’ll at last give them a chance to produce SOMETHING at that position. He’s one of the reasons the Twins are so terrible with runners in scoring position with less than 2 outs. In addition, if there is an injury there, any healthy body can play 1B for a couple of innings. St. Paul is only 30 minutes away. And in the entirety of everybody who has ever played for the Twins, has anyone ever been so pathetic and still given his number of at bats?
  5. Does Falvey think this is a face saving move? I certainly hope not. Sometimes I believe a 10 year old little leaguer could run this club better!
  6. Down right embarrassing! A kick in the balls to the Twins fans. By passing on an obvious need to add a right handed bat, they choked. When are the Minnesota fans going to demand a better product?
  7. I’m afraid the Twins are going to give up Larnach for a song. The Twins lost several players that would have helped them today. I have no faith they will win the division………
  8. Monday morning QB comment: I’ve questioned Rocco’s use of the bullpen all year. It’s nice to do everything possible to win games: but that’s a double edged sword. Sooner or later, the entire bullpen is gassed, and you need your last guy to pitch a significant portion of the game. OK- you are going to lose a game or two in that scenario. But what happens when you’ve played 120 games and your entire pen is spent? Hope I’m wrong……..
  9. I thought this was a very well written and thoughtful analysis of a subject on the minds of many Twins fans. It might have to be revisited in early October.
  10. I really don’t understand why Gallo is still around. DFA him now. Say you screwed up when you signed him. (he obviously has some incriminating pictures of Falvine!)
  11. What a pleasure to not have an automatic out in the 3 hole. Right now, this is a much better team without Buck. Let’s see how long it lasts.
  12. Most fans are Buxton supporters, and appreciate his past contributions and future possibilities. But he has been, in almost everyone’s opinion, hurting this team. Examples: In his last 8 games, he is 1-31 with 16 strikeouts. Last night, in a very winnable game, he came up twice in rally situations, and struck out twice. Hard to imagine anyone else in that situation not getting pinch hit for! I really hope he does not have a clause in his contract that rewards him for the number of games played! Finding that to be true would be insurrection time for Twins fans.
  13. Buxton is 1-31 in the last 8 games with 16 strikeouts. Why is he hitting 3rd? Why is he playing?
  14. Everyone remember the definition of “insanity?” That’s where the Twins are right now-doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result! Several posters have suggested trading Gallo. Seriously? Who would want him? The Twins should have DFA’d him on Monday, and apologized to the fan base for signing him in the first place. They got what he’s done the last 2+ years. Ugh! Aside from the putrid play of Correa and Buxton, the injury to Polanco is a major reason the offense is stuck in the mud. (IMHO)He is a consistent hitter who has always hit in the clutch. Finally, if the hitters continue their home run or nothing philosophy and continue to strikeout in alarming numbers-nothing is going to change (back to insanity!) With Correa, Buxton,Gallo, Vasquez, and Taylor in the everyday lineup, that’s likely to happen. The first 2 series in the second half should define the rest of the season. If they struggle against Oakland and Seattle-which I think is a real possibility- let the selling begin and prepare to say goodbye to Rocco and Falvine.
  15. Brilliant analysis by Nick, as usual. By will the Twins make any changes now? I doubt it. Why aren’t the Twins scoring? Here are the B.A.’s of the 9 players against RH pitchers: .225 .264 .212 .274 .211 .206 .213 .189 .218 Implement Nick’s 3 suggestions. Getting rid of Gallo and the hitting(?) coach should get someone’s attention.
  16. interestingly, CBS sports recently posted a list of the All-Stars and All-Star snubs. We know that Gray was the one Twin selected, but no hitters (obviously) in the snubs, and only 2 pitchers (Lopez and Ryan) mentioned in the pitching category omissions. The FO lack of attention in bringing in some protection against left handed pitchers is unconscionable! The last 2 lefties the Twins faced looked like Sandy Koufax to our hitters. Just totally embarrassing!
  17. AK just needs reps against major league pitching. He has hit at every level, so I have little worries about his long term production. He may not be a big HR guy, but I do see him hitting in the middle of the order with a ton of doubles, RBI’s, and a high average.
  18. AK will be just fine. He has hit a lot of balls right at someone. At the end of the year, he’ll have the best B.A. on the Twins.
  19. 2 points-one about today’s game. Why didn’t Rocco pinch hit for Solano with Julien in the 5th in the middle of the Twins “rally?” He pinch hit for Julien and AK in the 2nd inning recently! The point was made-quite accurately-how bad the Twins have been historically bad against LH pitching in the past and continuing to this year. I think adding someone this year to combat this was like their #1 priority. What did they do? Added Solano and Taylor (on the cheap)? This one is on the FO!
  20. As usual-Nick’s article is spot on. In my opinion, the 3 biggest areas of Concern: 1.) Buxton- either he plays CF, or send him to IL until he can. 2.) Get rid of Gallo-this one is on the FO. They knew what they were getting! 3. Stop platooning! How are our best LH hitters supposed to improve if they always sit against LH pitchers? Play your best damn players. 4. Get Polanco healthy.
  21. You’re not unlucky when you don’t even make contact with the ball……….
  22. Kirilloff doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. If he’s healthy, he is potentially a star. Figure it out front office……….
  23. why do you list Gallo in your lineup vs. lefties. In fact, why is Gallo even with the Twins?
  24. Well, that solves our need for a right handed hitting OF?

What is wrong with this front office? I’m sure all of the other LH hitting options in the Twins system are thrilled with this news!

  25. To break the tie in this discussion, YES-Kirilloff is indeed untouchable! Anyone that has followed his career understands this kid can be special. People in this thread will look back in the years to come and wonder why this was even a discussion!
