  1. I don’t hate this trade: I remember Graterol throwing 100+, but if it’s straight, major league hitters can rip that.
  2. Donaldson is not coming to the Minnesota! He is using the Twins to drive up his asking price! Ask yourself, when was the last time a major player chose the Twins when the numbers got this high? NEVER. (Please don’t mention Cruz- 12 million/year not in the same ballpark)
  3. I’m tired of checking these pages to see if the Twins made any moves to get pitching. Different year, same old story- organization says they are trying to get an ace- but other clubs step up (White Sox) and get the job done. Great season last year when all of the touted prospects came through, but I’m afraid next year starts a steady decline into oblivion. But I guess that’s what you expect from a middle of the road ball club............
  4. Worried about Kepler. Last swing, actually last 2 swings, were painful to watch. We need a healthy Kep!
  5. Can the Twins actually bring someone up from the minors now? I realize they would have to be put on the 40 man first, and someone would need to be dropped. But it might save their season.........
  6. Does a player have to be on the active 25 roster today to be eligible for the postseason?
  7. You can’t stretch the starters when you are at 100+ pitches in the 4th inning! All our starters nibble too much. The bullpen is what it is-decent players that are constantly overworked. As far as our defense goes, the team has lived and died with the HR’s this year while the defense has been just ok until the last couple of weeks or so. Posters are on Polanco today because of his errors, but I think he’s been ok for an offense-minded SS. These are the “dog days,” gentlemen, and the players have to push through fatigue, and days like today are going to happen. As Aaron Rogers would say, “R E L A X “ Have some faith in this product, however faulty it’s construction! How many of you thought we’d be in this position in spring training?
  8. Great article-well thought out and extremely well written. Personally, I’d go with your first 6 and add Thorpe and Smeltzer. I like the idea of having a “loogy” if needed to stop a big inning and/or to pitch in long relief.
  9. If the Twins are indeed “going got it,” they should swap Cave and Kiriloff. Can’t be any worse. Play the best players!!
  10. Great article! I’ve noticed this problem much earlier than Rosario’s ankle problems. His method of “hot dogging” every catch has bugged me for a long time. It has cost the Twins at least one game. I also noticed today that he certainly didn’t hustle out of the box on his “single” on the Twins last RBI. My grandson would be pissed with my comments-Rosario is his favorite player. And if he is playing hurt-that’s one thing. But if he’s just not playing hard, that’s another. I would hope someone in the clubhouse would address that. I’m not sure that Rocco is the type of manager to hold him accountable.
  11. Seems that this article was written as an encouragement to trade Kirilloff. I’d rather trade Lewis, if we have to. Kirilloff is an elite hitter. I don’t think he’s blocked by the current OF. You never know what’s going to happen- maybe Rosario’s contract demands make him expendable. Is it possible that Lewis is the one that is actually blocked? Seems to me that the middle infield could be set for years! And the idea that Lewis could end up in CF is undercut with Buxton’s emergence. Hey, I love both these guys. Kirilloff is just more of a sure thing to me.
  12. Just jumping into thread..... think the Twins should put in a defensive replacement for Rosario......... Wait- they don’t have one! That’s 3 balls he’s lost in the “lights”
  13. I’m ok with trading Lewis for someone like Thor. Kirilloff is the guy that would be untouchable. Hopefully, they will look at relievers who are signed through 2020.
  14. Chief- you just know that they will wait until the guys who can really help them are gone, and then settle for 2nd and 3rd tier players that one could classify as “maybe help- maybe not.”
  15. I would rather trade Lewis rather than Kirilloff! My prediction is that the FO will watch all the premium starters and relievers get scarfed up, and the Twins will settle for the 2nd and 3rd tier players. History is on my side, but I hope I’m wrong. Small market teams never make big deadline deals!
  16. I was at both games, and it was not pretty. Not because they lost-that happens. Lack of energy, effort, and enthusiasm is not acceptable! Tuesday night’s game was horrible except for Arraez’s amazing AB in the 9th. Sano and Schoop made sloppy errors. But today’s game took the cake! May’s HR pitch happens- you’d think he’d learn, but maybe not. But Rosario’s hot dog effort on an easy fly ball was horrendous! This one is on Rocco. Chief is spot on!
  17. Saw the AB in person, and I still don’t believe what I saw. Too bad the rest of the team didn’t have his energy for the last 2 days!
  18. Hey Brian- Everybody hope that Royce will be “that guy!” But no one needs to remind you that he is no guaranteed superstar. And being the #1 overall pick also has had some failures. Do these stars(?) from the last 10 years of Twins #1 picks become stars or front line players? 2008- Shooter Hunt 2009- Matthew Bashore 2010- Alex Wimmers 2011- Levi Michael 2011- Travis Harrison 2011- Hudson Boyd 2012- Luke Bard 2013- Kohl Stewart 2014- Nick Gordon 2015- Tyler Jay 2016-2019- TBD Granted, Buxton and Berrios have been very good. But do you know these #1 overall picks since 2000? 2002- Bryan Buffington 2004- Matt Bush 2006- Luke Hochevar 2008- Tim Beckham 2013- Mark Appel 2014- Brady Aiken Most of us think, hope, pray- that Royce will be a superstar. But I will submit, just by looking at past percentages of stars, this might be a reach!
  19. The reason for my post, in part, was this: who would you want the Twins trading for-2 month rentals of MadBum and Will Smith, or pitchers with equal or better talent (Boyd and Greene), that will be a big part of the Twins future?
  20. Could the Detroit Tigers say no to the proposed trade of Matthew Boyd and Shane Greene to the Twins for: Royce Lewis, Brent Rooker, Kole Stewart, and Jake Cave? Boyd is controlled until 2023 and Greene through 2021. This would give the Twins a top of the rotation left handed starter, and a tough right handed closer to go with Rogers. The Tigers might ask for someone like Jhoan Duran instead of Stewart. Is Lewis still untouchable in this situation?
  21. Chief’s comment is right on! According to tons of articles in various baseball publications, there are 6-10 teams looking for “quality” relievers. If the Twins wait, this will happen: the wealthy teams will win the bidding war that will happen in the last days of July, and the Twins will be left with crap. I’m actually wondering if the Twins first half superb performance has caught management by surprise! They never anticipated the Indians losing 60% of their stud starters for most of the first half, or the Tribe being so inept offensively out of the gate. Getting healthier by the day, Cleveland has gained 7 games in the standings in the past 2 weeks. If history repeats itself again this year, the Twins will be on the outside looking in once more at the trade deadline if they wait. Boldness has never been one of this organization’s virtues- I doubt that will change this summer!
  22. Has Arrenz hurt the team when he played LF? No. As an infielder, he should be complimented for playing ok when the starters were hurt. This idea of who are you going to play-Rosario or Arrenz-is counterintuitive! With a healthy OF, the kid will only be there is case of emergencies. Let’s see what happens. If he keeps hitting and playing good defense, management will figure something out. The idea that he will be sent down when everyone is healthy is mind-boggling, especially if he continues on this pace!
  23. I don’t think it’s very good club policy to send down a kid who: is hitting over .400, plays good defense, plays multiple positions, and has done everything he’s been asked to do! He’s had 75 AB’s as hasn’t shown any signs of regressing. The simplest solution is to go with one less pitcher. But sending Arraez down would not reflect well on the organization. If his play continues like it has- you tell him he’s going back to Rochester!
