  1. Great day for all Twins fans! However, it sucks that Berrios will make his major league debut in 50 degree weather, with 50-60% chance of rain.
  2. If the Twins do indeed add 2 players (hitters), who are your candidates to take off the 40 man? Dean, perhaps?
  3. God forbid, but if one of the catchers gets hurt, who is next? And what is the best guess as to who comes up to fill out our amazing bench? How soon will Plouffe be ready?
  4. Seriously, when I saw this, I had to check the date to see if it was April 1. I'd much rather have the Twins finish 0-162 than have something like this happen. It sends a terrible message to the fan base, who right now are more than a little frustrated!
  5. Great reports as usual, Seth! Something wrong with Berrios? When is he pitching?
  6. Buxton looks lost. I know, it's only the first game. I hope I'm wrong. All of Fiens pitches were up-just not a good day for him. May did look good, but the difference in good/ not so good is Chris Davis' rocket that was caught at the fence, with the wind blowing in. Is it just me, but when we really need a professional AB, you can usually trust Suzuki. Jepson was just unlucky- not worried. The Twins might break the Astros record for K's in a season!
  7. I've been a Santana fan for years, and have taken tons of grief from posters on this site. I just could never discount his awesome 2014 season. What happens if he continues to play well? You can't have too many good players! (He had 3 more hits today!) His base running gives the Twins a new dimension. It changed the outcome of today's game!
  8. I guess it doesn't make any difference, but it seems to me that Nolasco appears to be arrogant, not a team oriented guy. In post games interviews, he has seemed disinterested and put off. Anybody heard on what type of team mate he is? He seems out of place in Minnesota.
  9. I'll take the field for $1,000,00 please, Alex!
  10. I can't believe the number of posters that want to throw Santana under the bus. The history of baseball is littered with successful players who struggled early in their careers. Santana's success in 2014 didn't happen in a vacuum. You aren't lucky to hit .319 for the year, despite what naysayers want to say about is inflated BABIP. I'm not saying he will turn out like Big Papi, but give the kid a chance. I'd hate to see him be the starting SS for 10 years with another team!
  11. Great, great recap, Seth. I was recording the game, and my watching is only in the 5th inning. Too much pressure for an old guy!!
  12. I don't believe Danny Santana's chance is gone. He'd have to take it away from Escobar, but he's way to young and athletic to right him off.
  13. Danny Santana deserves to come up. He lost a year of development when he played CF and did very well (.319) last year. He had a disappointing early season, but he still has a chance to be in the picture in 2016. Not calling him up now would send a bad message to Santana and the Twins faithful who still believe in him.
  14. Fabulous article, Seth. My two cents worth is that if Berrios really pitches tomorrow, the Twins will not call him up. They are concerned about his innings, and if he is used tomorrow, I think they will let him have one more start at Rochester, then rest him the remainder of the year. Really love that kid, though. He, Sano, Buxton, Rosario, and Kepler are the faces of the future.
  15. The Twins need to decide if they are going to "go for it (wildcard)", or not. Their roster construction is crazy bad. 4 left handed relievers? Come on! I can hear it now: they are going to wait til the rosters expand. Meanwhile, what about the 3 games against the Astros? The FO 's message to the fans in certainly confusing, to say it nicely. (This gives me an idea for a new thread!)
  16. I'm joining the party late, but I thought Duffy was incredible tonight. I know he gave up five hits in the 8th, but he absolutely dominated. Most impressively pitched game of the year by a Twins pitcher, IMHO!
  17. Sorry, can't get excited about this deal. Can't we, for once, be interested in a player UNDER 30?
  18. Because, Mike, the Twins need to desperately find a SS, and Santana is their best option right now. Not Escobar, Nunez, or Polanco. I have to hand it to Mollie, he knows this and has given Danny about 40 chances so far this year. And EVERYONE is right: he hasn't done the job this year so far. But...... the Twins were 9 games over .500 at the break, and does anyone think they would be significantly better if someone else in the Twins system had played there? Seth did a super job of explaining the options. The FA options next year are not exciting, to say the least. So what are you going to do, Twins fans? My choice, while not being the popular one on TD, would be to give Santana the job until further notice.
  19. I'm not surprised at those stats: the Twins believe in having bench players that are happy to be bench players- fringe major leaguers that- a) are happy to be drawing major league salaries are happy to play once a week (or less) and c) have the capabilities to play several positions defensively If you consider the lineup that Mollie appears to prefer, these are your late inning options- Fryer, Escobar, Robinson, and Nunez-absolutely pathetic. If by some chance the Twins make the playoffs, I could see all 4 gone, and if they don't change a couple of guys soon, they will not make the playoffs!!
  20. Great job, as usual Seth! I appreciate the transaction section especially! The transaction thread that is running unfortunately is not about that......
  21. I don't get the love for other team's discards! And expect them to be serviceable for the Twins? Now I could understand Duffy or Wimmers. But not Meyer! He can't get anyone out at Rochester right now. How about sending him down to Chattanooga (like Vargas) to get some confidence?
  22. Thanks Chief! Needed to read all 4 to completely understand the process. I think I've got it!
  23. Could someone tell me how adding and subtracting players to/from the 40 man roster works? For example- let's say the Twins want to bring up Fryer, and therefore would need to add him to the 40 man. In addition, they DFA Herrmann and remove him from the 40 man. Fryer gets hurt or is ineffective, can they reverse everything in a month or so? Same with O'Rourke. Say he gets bombed, hurt, etc. Can they just remove him and add someone else?
  24. Oswaldo Arcia hit his 4th homer of the season and drove in 2 runs for Rochester last night (2-K's as well). His average is up to .261. With an over crowded OF(Rosario, Hicks, Hunter, Robinson and Buxton to return(?) in a month or so) and Sano maning the DH position for now, will Ozzie ever see the green grass of Target Field's again?
