  1. Please check your math on the batting averages for Brooks Lee and DeShawn Kiersey.
  2. "Bunting has been reliced, othered"? What does that mean? I didn't know you could give lice to a bunt, let alone other one.
  3. I looked at the top 300 prospects at Prospectslive.com. There are only 6 catchers in the top 100 and they only project 2 to remain at catcher (and one of them is questionable because he is also a pitcher that throws in the upper 90's). #26 Mitchell - HS - stays at catcher but if he doesn't develop, he can pitch #37 Teel - Virginia - catcher with a weak arm #38 Carrigg - San Diego State - Probably move to corner outfield #44 Velazquez - HS - Probably a corner OF #66 Dickey - Tennesee - Probably a corner OF # 78 - Carico - Davidson - Probably a corner OF With these as the choices for the Twins, only Mitchell and Teel project as future catchers - one might pitch and the other has a weak arm. So unless Mitchell is still available for the compensation pick, catcher should not be a priority. They might as well wait until later rounds to pick up some players they can use as "lottery tickets" for potential trades for a catcher.
  4. I can put some of Solano's error on the attempted double play on the way today's players are taught to play 1st base. When I was learning to play 1st base (and I know that was before Henry Ford rolled out his first car - almost), that throw would have hit me in the chest. We were taught to have an initial stance with our left heel in contact with the outer edge of the left side of the x bag and the right foot similarly placed on the right side. We then would shift our feet from one side of the base to the other dependent on where the throw was going. In Solano's situation, I would have moved my left heel to the right side of 1st and stretched to the ball with my right leg keeping my body facing the throw. If you watch the video, you can see that Solano stretches with his left leg prior to the throw and then stretching for the throw by crossing his left leg over his right leg causing him to almost have his back to the throw. It's much easier to catch a ball if you're looking directly at it. But, he should have caught that throw no matter how he played it (or didn't play it?).
  5. "I feel pretty strongly that if we didn't have a ton of left handed bats in the system - Larnach is going to have a better long term career than Gordon." Please clarify.
  6. The Twins never traded for Donaldson. They just went to the FA store and bought him.
  7. Not sure what you're trying to say. As near as I can tell, you're saying that the Twins never should have signed Donaldson in the first place? If so, that's a whole other topic. Because Donaldson was already on the team, the trade appears to be a win for the Twins. IKF did okay but Rotvordt has been a nothing burger for the Yankees. On the Twin's side, Sanchez was Sanchez. Gio, however, produced better than expected. So I would call it - advantage Twins. And that's without mentioning Correa.
  8. Agree 100%. I find it maddening to spend time reading the same sentence multiple times in order to determine what the poster was trying to say. It only takes a few seconds to re-read your post before hitting the Submit Comment button. Note: It took about 20 seconds to re-read this post and make needed corrections.
  9. I think that the sacrifice bunt and hit and run plays were banned last off-season as part of the rule changes.
  10. SSS ALERT!!! It's good to see Balazovic having a good start. Maybe 2022 was just a soap opera year for him. (You know; a whole year of disasters turn out to be nothing more than a bad dream.)
  11. Because it only takes a brief moment to double-check what you've written to make sure you typed what you meant.
  12. I keep seeing the word "shoved" being used. Is that another new baseball term or just another lazy typo?
  13. "The cost of their scruples"?? Don't you have to have scruples before you can lose them?
  14. Paparesta?? Isn't that the guys that chase after celebrities trying to take their pictures?
  15. I think Julien should have been the hitter of the day going 1-2 with an RBI, and a plane ticket to Target Field.
  16. Baseball-reference.com provides all the stats you want. Milb.com should also have them but they haven't posted any yet.
  17. My favorite column on Twins Daily. One little nitpick. How did Contreras hit a two-run HR with Galick and Julien on base to give the Saints a "two-run difference" with the score 5-1? What actually happened?
  18. Hell, I'm 76 and don't have kids or grandkids, and I still get embarrassing when the Twins get a walk-off win.
  19. Nice try. I am saying the studies (which were not done by the OP) were analytical but the charts (done by the OP) were not. Ergo, we were not talking analytics.
  20. I agree that the studies have analytical value. What I found disingenuous was calling the colorful bar charts a good example of analytics (not by you).
  21. I don't understand the challenge. What will they use for verification? The same data that the automated system used? Something that is more accurate than what the automated system uses? (In that case, why not use that data initially?) Or will the use some sort of visual that is interpreted by humans? And in the latter case, why have an automated system if a human opinion is better?
