  1. Also Boras will most certainly be getting a percentage of the additional 65 million, so that further depletes Carlos' share that goes into his pocket. Plus the SF deal was for a longer period of time and we all know money today is worth more than the same amount of money tomorrow.
  2. Plus Lewis and Lee may prove to become difference makers themselves. We just don't know yet.
  3. Your reply is really helpful when I examine the Gallo signing. You made some really good points that have helped me see the Gallo signing as not as bad as I first thought. Thank you.
  4. Thanks for the article Doc. I still do not like the signing, but I respect your opinions and I pledge that for 1 week, I will read your article each night before I go to bed, with the hopes that eventually I will regain my usually sunny disposition and positive, hope-filled out look for the coming Twins' season.
  5. Nick, I can solve your mystery with three examples: 1) Watch some old videos of Miguel Sano at bat, with runners on the bases, when he swings and misses that low, outside slider time after time. That is what it is going to be like in 40 % of Gallo's at bats. 2) Watch videos of the Twins last year fail to advance the runners by bunt, sacrifice, stealing a base or hitting behind the runners. For over 100 years this has been good fundamental baseball. 3) Watch Kepler's videos from last year as he hits and grounds another 2 hopper to 2B. Nick I agree that contact is not always good, but it is usually better than the alternative.
  6. I really am at a loss for a reasonable explanation about the Gallo signing. I am very disappointed in the FO decision to sign Gallo. But then I'm old school. What do I know. Not much, since I only played baseball 7 years during the spring and summer, and through high school 50 years ago and only coached little league 3 seasons and only played intermural softball in college and a few years after in a men's church league. Really not enough experience to form an opinion that anyone else, much less the professional and experienced FO with the Twins organization, would pay any attention to. Now I only watch baseball and attend a dozen games a year. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that hitting under .200 is bad and striking out 40% of the time is bad. Am I wrong? Has the game I love and thought I understood, changed so much? What am I missing here?
  7. I still think it is a poor signing by the FO. Those SO's are rally killers.
  8. Your two cents plus 10, 999,999.98 will apparently buy you Joey Gallo.
  9. Mike I wholeheartedly concur. An incredibly stupid signing.
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !
  11. I really am glad that Falvine does not tell all the details of his negotiations. I feel that is more professional on their part, even when there is widespread public interest in wanting to know all the details.
  12. Thank you Jack. Your article was very interesting. I sincerely appreciate your writing it.
  13. Ask yourself this question: "Why did SF's offer to Correa exceed the Twins' offer by 65 million dollars?" There must have been another (other) offer(s). over the $285 million, in order for the Giants to pay that much more than the Twins' offered. Therefore I bet $285 million was not the second highest offer which Correa received. But you live and learn (hopefully). Now about the Twins pitching....
  14. Based on what I read, Vasquez will be a good veteran clubhouse presence. Buck and Gray seem to be a good leaders. I do agree that positive veteran leadership is important to any ballclub. I'm sorry it won't be Correa.
  15. I don't think this is a good idea for the Twins to trade for Crawford. If the Giants are ready to move Crawford off SS at age 36, they are going to love Correa when he is 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, and 41.
  16. I think I'll take a long walk in the winter woods of North Carolina. It's 45 degrees and cloudy, a perfect day for a woods walk.
  17. Thanks for writing about what many of us (most of us) TD members are feeling today. We will get over it. We will survive. We're Twins fans. Where the women are strong, the men are good looking and the children are slightly above average.
  18. Sometimes in life, it is best not to get what you want. We all want the Twins players to want to play for the Twins. But in reality, who can blame Correa for getting an additional 65 million dollars, although it will be spread out. If I had the knowledge and skills, I could figure the present day cost of both the Twins' offer and the Giants' offer, and the difference in present day dollars would be less than 65 million. Inflation is a double edged sword. It's not really 285 million vs. 350 million. But I do want to congratulate Carlos Correa and wish him well in his life. And I hope the Giants regret paying this much money for the next two decades.
  19. I heard Kirby and Joe really stayed for the "pike on a stick" cooked over a fire on a frozen lake.
  20. We will know soon enough. Hopefully C-4 will be a player for the Twins for a long time. By the way, I used to cook c-rations with C-4, which we removed from our claymore mines. Just light a teaspoon sized chunk of C-4 on the ground, fold back the metal top to the c-ration can and use the folded top for a handle and hold your can over the small hot flame, constantly stirring the contents so they won't burn and in a short time the food would be hot. Ham and limas, canned ham and eggs, pork and beans, canned mystery meat. Not too tasty, but provided energy.
  21. Kep hits everything toward the right side. That right-field corner would look might inviting to Kep. But those frequent Yankee trips to Toronto may be a problem for Kep.
