  1. Count your blessings if you live less than 100 miles from Target Field. I have been a Senators/Twins fan for 70 years and I live 1,127.7 miles away from Target Field. But then I am only 754 miles from Hammond Stadium. By he way, I am going to get my reservations and game tickets this week for spring training. I cannot wait ! My wife and I have decided to stay a week this year. I hope to meet some of you at Ft. Myers this year.
  2. Nine, that was really clever. South Georgia. Thanks.
  3. The 5 winners, whom you rightly featured here, required 9 and 2/3's total innings of relief to seal the 5 victories. Please give an honorable mention to Duran. That having been said, I hope Rocco lets the starters who are succeeding in a game, pitch longer into that game this year and I hope the FO signs/ promotes/ trades for/ finds playing church league softball in Lake Wobegon/ or observes casting a line for pike on the shore of Lake Winnibigoshish, several more flame throwing relievers.
  4. Did Berrios want to stay in Minnesota? I hope he did, but I don't know if what Jose Berrios wanted had anything to do with his trade to Toronto.
  5. Really great post Doc. Well reasoned and well written. Your post is the perfect compliment to the well written article by Lou. And I say this, even though I still don't like trading Petty. But I must admit that I have really enjoyed watching Sonny Gray pitch. He is a true professional, gutsy, top of the rotation pitcher. I hope the Twins will be able to extend Gray. And I hope that Chase Petty has a long successful career, where ever he ma be pitching.
  6. Having watched Petty pitch in spring training, I was blown away and I would trade SWR or Connor P. for Petty. But what do I know...I can't even spell their names.
  7. "Pitching is the coin of the realm" Outstanding writing Ash. You also added the "standing at the station" analogy, which unfortunately accurately describes the Twins current situation. Well done.
  8. The Twins may already have this "inning eater", but we don't know because Rocco, like many ML managers, keeps limiting starters' innings.
  9. Falvine drafted at least one H.S. pitcher with huge upside to become an ace, but then traded him to the Reds.
  10. I have posted before that the Twins will regret trading Petty. I still believe this to be true.
  11. Great, hope filled article. Thanks Cody for this article and for your many other outstanding articles.
  12. Melissa, how many victories did you see out of your 57 games in 2022? I know, I know, it's not all about a victory every game. It's the journey, rather than the destination. But you've got to admit, a ball game is more fun when your team wins, the crowd is cheering, and there are happy conversations among the fans leaving the stadium and on the buses.
  13. I guess the top rated story for TD must be sarcastic smoke and mirrors, when losing is the painful reality for Twins' fans. Reminds me of the old Brooklyn Dodgers, "Dem Bums", of the 40's and 50's, who inspired many self- deprecatory stories and articles. The Dodgers had trouble competing against their home-town rivals, the Giants and the hated Yankees, so they made fun of themselves and laughed to keep from crying.
  14. I know and understand why most of you Minnesotans prefer the beauty of your open air ball park. However, since I live in North Carolina, I appreciated the certainty which the Dome provided those of us who have to travel a great distance to see the Twins play at home. I was able to make plans and reservations and purchase advance tickets to attend the games I wanted to see well in advance, since I was assured that the games would be played in a comfortable, dry, temperature-regulated stadium, I realize the Twins' fans are mainly from the upper-Midwest, however I thoroughly enjoyed my times at the Dome. And I must say, July in Minnesota was delightful.
  15. Interesting proposal. It just might work.
  16. Front-loading a contract may sound wise, however I believe that the total amount paid out over the life of the contract is what is important to the player and his hot-shot agent. I believe it is a pride thing. But a counter to Ghost's proposal of front loading a contract is that a million dollars today is worth more than a million dollars payable in 7, 8, or 10 years. Therefore the owners will pay less in overall "value paid" by back-loading, instead of front-loading a contract which has the same total number value for the life of the contract.
  17. The Twins were on the hook for a 3 year, 105 million dollar deal. That's not chump change. I hope they did their due diligence and checked Correa 's medical situation completely. If the opportunity presents itself to sign Correa to the Twins' offered contract, I hope it works out well for the Twins.
  18. Vasquez can be a huge addition to the Twins pitching staff. Remember Gray did not want to pitch to Sanchez when they were both Yankees. Pitch calling is critical. I predict the Twins pitch selection will improve with Vasquez behind the plate and Jeffers getting more experience and learning from the veteran Vasquez.
  19. Nooooooooooooooooo. Winning is not everything. And it is not the only thing. Integrity, honor, kindness and trust still trump meanness and lies and thinking the world revolves around oneself.
  20. I agree with Squirrel. What kind of message does signing Bauer send to the families who the Twins hope to attract to the park and to watch on tv. Trevor Bauer would not be welcome in my home for dinner.
