  1. I respectfully disagree because Kepler just said a positive change in clubhouse culture was the reason for his amazingly positive turn around the second half of this season. Maybe you are saying the Donaldson "toxicity" rumors have been talked to death, but the Yankees just released him this week. For these 2 reasons, I contend this topic is timely. Thanks Squirrel, for allowing me to disagree with you.
  2. I'd like to rephrase that to say the Twins have the 10th best chance of winning the World Series out of all 30 of the the major league teams. Maybe even better odds than that, since all 3 of the 1st round of playoff games that the Twins play will be at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota!
  3. The Astros put on their pants just like the Mariners and Rangers. But I do understand what you are saying. I just wish we were playing the current Yankees team. I loathe the Yankees.
  4. By the way, the odds of scoring from 2B with zero outs is 61%, while the odds of scoring from 3B after a sacrifice bunt, resulting in 1 out, is 66%. This makes me rethink my yelling "BUNT" at the computer screen every time a Twins' batter comes to bat with a Twin on on 2B with no outs. Maybe I'll start yelling, "Hit the ball to the right side of the field" when a Twin is on 2B with zero or 1 out.
  5. The odds of scoring from 3B with 1 out is 66%. The odds of scoring from 2B with one out is 41%. Gallo was correct in how he handled the situation last night, only he fell down.
  6. I would like to add Josh Winder's 3 innings of shutout relief as a positive addition to the Twins success this week. Thank you.
  7. Would you also propose this equation: Defense<Defense+Hitting? And would you agree for for Buck his playing equation is Buck's Defense>Hitting? If so maybe Buck should only be a defensive replacement in CF and not bat. Look, I don't fault Buck at all, but he has not been helping this team this year by batting DH. There are better options for DH for the Twins in 2023.
  8. My point is that it depends on how much he has to exert himself on the basepaths. Accelerating quickly, stopping suddenly, touching raised bases as a runner races full speed past them, sliding into fielders, diving headfirst back to first base in response to a pickoff are arguably as taxing physically as catching 3 to 6 balls hit to CF, some of which require very little physical effort and some of which may require running at full speed and diving, similar to running the bases and sliding headfirst. I usually agree with almost all of your posts, CH, but on this one I must respectfully disagree with you.
  9. I guess with that logic, we should also hope Byron doesn't go 5 for 5 with a triple and 2 doubles and 2 singles and 3 stolen bases.
  10. Depends on the definition of "ramping up". Sometimes rest and heal is all a player can do on the IL.
  11. Great road trips and great report. Thanks.
  12. What a great video about my kind of place. Family owned, unique, beer and bras on the ceiling.
  13. Thanks Goat. That was a "Minnesota nice" comment.
  14. Great guide John. Will a similar guide be forthcoming to TD about Minneapolis to help us North Carolinians who have not been to Minneapolis since 1987 & 1988 (Mark Davidson invited me both times to see the Twins play some great baseball at the Metro Dome) when we come to town for the playoffs Oct 3rd?
  15. I would put Royce Lewis #1 (who will probably take over SS when C-4 moves to 3B in several years), Jenkins #2, Kirilloff #3, Julian #4, Wallner #5, Lee #6, Duran #7, E. Rodriguez #8, Soto #9, and Raya #10. Obviously, I am emphasizing potential more than Cody is in his rankings, and that's OK. The Twins need more high ceiling young pitchers in the system.
  16. Interesting proposal to put Buck at 1B. I don't recall having seen that proposal before. I am interested in reading the pros and cons of that move.
  17. Where do I order my playoff tickets?
  18. Kirilloff looks good at 1B. Lewis looks good at 3B. Polo does not look good at 3B. Gallo went 4 for 4 last night with 2 homers. Where did that come from? Where will Lee play next year?
  19. My grandparents lived in Washington, DC, where I was born. Although I moved to North Carolina when I was 5, I became a Washington Senators fan in 1954 during a visit to my grandparents' home in DC. Plus the Charlotte minor league team was a Senators farm team for years and we got the Charlotte newspaper. Who couldn't pull for Clint "Scrapiron" Courtney, Lyle Lutrell. Angel Scull, Wayne Terwilliger, Harmon Killebrew, Bob Allison, Jim Lemon, Camilo "Little Potato" Pascual, Pedro "The Yankee Killer" Ramos, Eddie "Walking Man" Yost, Roy Sievers, Cookie Lavagettoa and Chuck Dressen as managers, Chuck Stobbs, Little Albie Pearson, etc. And, as they say, the rest is history.
