  2. Nope, but never give up. As Buck said, "It's all about winning."
  3. Trade Larnach now and bring up Roden. This will bring about an immediate improvement for the Twins. Promote Houston to AAA so he can start getting used to better pitchers. Play Culpepper at 2B at St. Paul.
  4. If the Twins trade Jeffers, they will be trading away more than a really good catcher. They will also be trading away hope and will be disrespecting the remaining Twins players, coaches, manager and fans. A lot can happen in two months in the weak American League Central. Is that really worth getting some prospect who has been languishing in the Yankee minor league system? Keep Jeffers and keep pounding.
  5. Roden is hitting well and can field well. Should he be brought up now?
  6. Why do major league pitchers need experience? A good catcher can call all the pitches. If a 20 year old pitcher can throw the baseball where the catcher tells him, and can throw the ball 100 mph and spin a breaking ball and a changeup, why does he need more experience (Riley Quick, I'm looking at you.) Not arguing, I'm just asking.
  7. Eventually it will be Houston at SS and Culpepper at 2B. Keaschall and Lewis will have the rest of this year to show whether they can play 2B and 1B respectively. Does a ball club really need a super utility player to be successful? Probably. I understand one substitute catcher plus 3 additional substitutes are necessary out of the 4 remaining position players on the 26 man roster. Ideally an OF and an IF and one who can play both (i.e. Clemens). One sub needs to be fast for late inning pinch running situations. And I think these subs need some semi-regular playing time to keep their batting eyes and hands and arms and legs ready to play baseball In summary, it seems to be a delicate balancing act to put the best players on the field, in proper positions, against left-handed opposition pitchers and right-handed opposition pitchers, day after day. Good luck Shelty.
  8. Houston will be the Twins SS in 2027 and for years after that. Who has a stronger arm for 3B, Lee or Culpepper? Who has more range at 2B, Lee or Culpepper or Keaschall? Who has quicker reflexes for 3B? Lee or Culpepper? Who is a switch hitter...Lee. This makes Lee the most valuable utility player of the 3. Clemens is the best we have now at 1B. But he needs to be traded along with Bell, Rogers, Wallner and Larnach at the trade deadline. Get what you can and clear out the roster spots for the younger players. Give the youngsters some playing time in August and September this year.
  9. Once again Ricky Castro pitched well for the Saints (2 innings, 2 strikeouts, zero hits, zero runs), and again he was not mentioned in the article about the game. Give Ricky some love.
  10. 1. Lackey, 2. Roch, 3. Flora, 4. My grandson, Jacob Benbow a crafty lefty pitcher, who is recovering from torn labrum surgery.
  11. I sure hope Lackey is available at #3 and I hope the Twins draft him. 450 foot home run ! BA of almost .400. Quick behind the plate. Strong arm. Loved by coach and team mates. The Twins made a wonderful high draft selection of another player from Georgia in 2012 at the second pick. Hopefully history repeats itself.
  12. This is all on Taylor Rogers. Thank him for his past work for the Twins and DFA him tonight. Both of Rogers strikeouts were on 3rd pitch balls.
  13. Are you kidding me! A bases loaded walk. I know it's raining but throw the damn ball over the damn plate.
  14. NEVER WALK THE LEADOFF BATTER ! Ought to be a $1,000 fine.
  15. The major league draft is much more difficulty to predict than the draft was when I graduated from UNC. That draft was pretty predictable, unless one of daddy's tenants happened to be a podiatrist.
  16. I agree. Winning attitudes breed success. Conversely, success breeds a winning attitudes. Which comes first?
  17. I agree that it is time for the Twins to pull us back in, so that in July our hopes and dreams can be smashed like rotten watermelons.
  18. Here's a positive for all of us at TD. It is time to start writing articles about the 2027 Draft Prospects, since the Twins will once more have a early pick in that draft too. ( Here you may laugh along with me, as the tears roll down our cheeks.) Reminds me of a song we Twins fans sing every April. "The wheels on the Twins bus go round and round, round and round, round and round"...............I have added a new verse for us Twins fans to sing. "Let's sing along with this happy tune, until the wheels fall off in June."
