  1. I understand your points. However I say keep the major league roster and play today like your hair is on fire.
  2. Jeffers can help us win the pennant today. But only if he plays for the Twins. I do see your points and they are reasonable. However I want the Twins to play for today. Tomorrow never arrives. It's always a day away.
  3. I must disagree. Winners do not trade their best players at the trade deadline. Losers and mediocre teams do that. Oh, you may say that "the Twins are already a loser this season, so why not trade for the future.?" My answer to that is it ain't over til the fat lady sings.
  4. Jamie, What a wonderful job you did for us at TD. Your earlier draft articles were spot on and very interesting. It must have taken hours and hours of your time to research and write these articles. The culmination of your research , resulting in the summation of each Twin draftee was amazing. We at TD are so fortunate to be able to keep up with these matters through your excellent research and writing. THANK YOU !
  5. One would think that out of 13 pitchers drafted by the Twins, at least one would pitch left-handed. Nope!
  6. How soon can I buy my playoff tickets and where is a good hotel in Minneapolis where I can stay?
  7. Thanks Seth. I really was envisioning trading Tinney for a good reliever or two at the trade deadline if the Twins are still contending then. For example the Angels have no real catching prospects in their top 30 prospects. Devillo , who is only 18, will probably be moved to 3B or DH and is too good a hitter to remain at catcher and not a good athlete. Flores, who is 20, can't hit his way out of a paper bag. The Angels could easily trade Kirby Yates and Bret Suter (a lefty) , both of whom are on 1 year contracts and are in their late 30's and are still effective veteran relievers, and who are worthless to the hapless Angels as relievers, plus the Angels could possibly add 29 year old Soriano as a starting pitcher, who is eligible for arbitration next year and is only being paid $2.9 million this year. This would give the Twins 2 solid relievers for the post season run, which they desperately need., plus one more good starting pitcher. The Angels are going nowhere any time soon, and need to rebuild with youth.
  8. I predict Tinney will be traded soon. He will not be needed. I don't know why he was selected, despite the fact that Johnson said he was the best available player. Should have grabbed another pitcher at that pick.
  9. Mason Miller would cost the entire St. Paul Saints roster.
  10. 1)The Twins have taken reasonable steps to solve their "dearth of future catchers" problem. 2) They have taken reasonable steps to solve the "future of the outfielders." 3)They have taken reasonable steps to solve the "good defense, good hit" infield problems on the left side and at maybe, by default, at 2B. That leaves first base and pitching to work on. 4) I submit that good fielding first basemen, who hit lots of home runs are rare We were spoiled for years by Justin Morneau. Maybe good fielding and lots of singles and doubles for 1the Twins 1B will get the job done. 5) Now, I don't care who you are, you can never have enough pitching. The next few years will continuously require more and more flame throwers and lefthanded pitchers. 6) In summary, I'm feeling optimistic about the Twins future.
  11. Winning the Cedar Rapids Kernel prize  from TD is far better than winning the FIFA World Peace Prize. Thanks.

  12. I'm glad that Killebrew and Johnson are honored anywhere. But the Washington Nationals have no right to claim them as former players for that franchise. They certainly are part of Washington's baseball history, but then, so is Mickey Mantle, who hit what was at that time claimed to be the longest homerun ever hit. Unfortunately, he played for some team in New Jersey or the northeast somewhere, and tormented the Washington team. I drew mustaches on all of Mantle's baseball card,s thereby reducing the value tremendously. Who knew those penny cards would someday be worth thousands of dollars?
  13. I have been a Senators/Twins fan since 1953 when they were the old Washington Senators., because my grandparents lived in Washington, DC. and because we lived near Charlotte , NC, which was a Senators/Twins minor league affiliate. My family subscribed to the Charlotte Observer. My first major league game was in 1953 in old Griffith Stadium with my brother and our grandfather, while we were visiting our grandparents in D.C. ( The Senators lost to the Tigers (of course they did), setting the stage for my lifetime of woes, due to my strong allegiance to the Senators and Twins.) My younger brother ( who Mother liked best, became a pediatrician, while I was the black sheep of the family and I became a trial lawyer) has been a Phillies fan since 1954, when he decided that he liked Thornton Kipper's Phillies hat on his 1954 Topps' baseball card. It would be interesting for us to attend this year's "Field of Dreams" game, due to our 74-73 years of loyalty to the two opponents of this year's game. I seriously doubt that there are two family members who have pulled for these two opponents continuously for this long period of time. We belong in the Guinness Book of Records or more importantly, we merit an in- person interview with Audra Martin. How about it Audra? My email address is cdbenbow4@gmail.com. and my phone number is 704-402-2613. I await your call. Sincerely, David Benbow
  14. What a great selection. Some may say it was a no-brainer, but I have seen the Twins FO do some pretty dumb selections in the past, Tyler Jay, Keoni Cacavo, Aaron Sabato., Levi Michael to name a few. It looks like those days are in the past. Thank goodness.
  15. I love a good bunt in the right situation. We will just have to agree to disagree on the issue of bunting.
  16. Looks pretty good to me. It fits my definition of "clobber". In fact if Houston had enough at bats to qualify as a stats leader in AA he would be at number 11 in the top batting averages out of the 109 AA position players listed in AA stats. I know, I know, it's a small sample size, but " it is what it is."
  17. The Twins need Kreidler at SS every day during this penent run.
