  1. I'm not over "The Hill". Just trust your stuff and throw the damn ball over the plate. Right down the middle is OK for now.
  2. I gotta agree with you, Andy. I think Lackey, being a catcher, is a bigger risk than Cholowsky is at SS. You may argue with Culpepper and Houston, the Twins don't need another SS. However if a player can play SS, then he can also play 3B or 2B or 1B and probably at least a corner OF spot. The same versatility can't be true for a catcher. But if Lackey is available at #3 and Cholowsky has already been drafted, then I would be thrilled to draft Lackey for the Twins. The Twins need a catcher much more than the White Sox need a catcher. However if Cholowsky is available at number 3...grab him. These are the top 2 players in this draft. But I do like Flora...we just have a lot of starting pitchers right now in the system.
  3. Another great write up. However, I believe a shout out is due to Ricky Castro for his good pitching against the Mud Hens. In fact, Castro's numbers were as good, if not better than Abel's . If you take Castro's 4 strikeouts over 2 innings, that is 2 per inning or 18 per nine innings. While Abel's 5 strikeouts during 3 innings on a nine inning basis would only be 15 strikeouts. I know Castro had a walk and Abel did not. But Castro deserves a mention in this article.
  4. You're on. I'm not saying I'm going to fly from North Carolina to pay this bet if I lose, but I'll send a check to you.
  5. I bet you a St Pauli Girl beer that Mendez makes the All Star Team by 2029.
  6. Sabato and Fedko have each hit a homer off of Verlander tonight in Toledo.
  7. Hendry Mendez's batting skills will more than make up for his fielding limitations in left field.
  8. Good article. It's time to trade Larnach. His defense is improved, yes, but he is still a weak fielding outfielder.
  9. Honestly this well written summary of the past week was just depressing to me. Instead of being slightly above average, the Twins were slightly below average. This season is just like the past Twins' seasons and this season will not end with a bang, but with a whimper.
  10. It's not rocket science. Call loudly and frequently for the ball. Give way to the player who has precedent if both call for the ball. That was not a pop up that neither player felt he could get and thus remained silent.
  11. There is no excuse for someone who has played baseball for several years, to not be able to call a pop fly and also for the other player to listen and to obey the player who has precedent on that pop fly. I don't know whose fault that play was, but it was a Little League mistake. Pitiful.
  12. The Twins are "one of those rebuilding teams", especially in the bullpen. The Twins should have kept him in the bullpen.
  13. I still think there is more to this story, which we may never know. Like Charlie Rich used to sing: "No one knows what goes on behind closed doors."
  14. As much as I love the Minnesota Twins, I must also ask, why would Joe Ryan want to stay a Minnesota Twin? The answer is obvious: "Show me the money." If that isn't done, fagitaboutit.
  15. Please somebody find out the real story behind SWR"s DFA. There's got to be more to this situation.
  16. Defense is to blame for both of these first two White Sox players reaching 2B and 3B with no outs.
  17. Yea the huge home crowds will invigorate the Twins players.
  18. The Twins pitchers need some more cold wet weather in order to keep the opposition from hitting as well. Cold weather really doesn't matter to the Twins hitters. Think about it.
