  1. Pretty sure Twins won't be able to land a SP, at least an impact one. Heck, it's looking like we might not do anything at all. If we hope to even make the playoffs, let alone do well in them, I think it's pretty obvious we need bullpen help. Some good lefties would be nice. Last time I mention this, but Puk would have been the perfect trade for us.
  2. To be a true playoff contender the Twins need a solid 2-3 type starter and two bullpen arms. At least one, if not two good lefties. The way it's going, I think the Twins will be one of two teams along with the A's to do absolutely nothing. What a message to send to the fans.....Hope you enjoyed the playoffs last year, because from here on out it looks like payroll cuts and no meaningful additions for awhile:(
  3. It is just so sad and an absolute slap in the face to us fans that all this has to happen now. We FINALLY win a playoff series and look set up to be a true world series contender the next few years and what does management do? Cut payroll, screw up TV rights so nobody can even watch the games. Then on top of everything they blame the fans and lack of attendance for all their money troubles. It's too bad we don't have owners that actually want to bring a world series to MN, rather than trying to improve profit margins year to year....
  4. Banks or Smyly makes sense. We desperately need some lefty reliever s for the bullpen. Two would be nice, one minimum. I bet we could get Aroldis Chapman for either Kepler, or someone like Raya. Looking like SP is going to be out of our price range, so hoping for a bullpen addition is probably all we can do sadly.
  5. Obers pitching great. If Pablo can continue pitching well, we have a solid 1-2-3. Bullpen needs a lefty or two. Theilbar and Okert are not going to cut it. Also, I understand the need to sit guys every now and then, but the way Rocco does it is insane. Why did Lewis need a day off? He had only been back for two games, and he just hit a homer Saturday. If he needed some rest why not DH him to at least keep his bat in the lineup. Then he decides to sit Buxton the same day so we run out a lineup with no Buxton, Correa, Miranda or Lewis. We're lucky we were able to win this one at all....
  6. Varland is not a starter. Moving him to the bullpen and trying him as a reliever is the only way to get any value out of him going forward. It doesn't need to be a defeat, if he can be a hard throwing set up kind of guy like he was late last year, that's very valuable to a team like the Twins that will need to rely heavily on our bullpen in the playoffs. Not sure what to do with Julien, he looks absolutely lost. Maybe send him all the way back to A ball like they did with Sano years ago? He clearly needs to rework his approach and swing. At this point I think it's fair to say Keaschal has surpassed him on the IF depth chart.
  7. There's no way we should trade Zebby and Keaschal, especially for a rental. Zebby is our possible ace of the future and Keaschal has hit better than anyone else in our system. Gotta hold on to those guys, unless we're looking at a controllable starter
  8. I think we should grab Kikuchi. Maybe we get him for Kepler and Dobnak? He can start the rest of the year, and if needed pitch out of the bullpen in the playoffs where we desperately need a good lefty. Puk would have been perfect. Scott would be nice, but I think they'll be asking way too much for him. I'd be happy with Kikuchi and another LHRP.
  9. Twins could use another starter so we don't have to rely on rookies like Festa to replace Paddack. I think the bullpen is a more glaring need though, especially lefties. With Topa, Varland and maybe Paddack we've got enough right handed pitchers we can try. But we currently have no lefties I'd trust in a close game. Picking up one, if not two LHRP would be ideal. Either that or grab one lefty reliever along with Kikuchi who could start or pitch in relief down the stretch.
  10. Puk would have been the perfect acquisition. Only cost two mid level prospects, his salary is cheap, he's a lefty and would be a perfect Theilbar replacement, and he's controllable for two more years! Missed out on that one. Scott would be a great get, IF we don't have to give up too much to get him. I think Kikuchi should be our priority. Keep him in the rotation rest of the year. If he does great, maybe he starts a playoff game. If he's not as sharp, he could be a real lefty weapon in the bullpen which we need badly. Perfect deadline for me would be Kikuchi and a solid lefty reliever. Sure, I'd like Snell, Flaherty or Eovaldi, but those all seem like pipe dreams with the Pohlad s crying poverty again...
  11. Would Kepler be enough to land us a set up type relief pitcher? We need at least one lefty, preferably two. I think that's a bigger priority than adding rotation depth imo...
  12. If we don't go for it now, then when? If we're going to win a world series it has to be now, with Correa and Buxton locked up, Royce Lewis under contract before he gets way too expensive for us. It wouldn't take much either. Just a rental starter and one good lefty reliever is all it would take imo...
  13. I think the Twins need bullpen help at the deadline more than they need rotation help. Theilbar and Okert can not be counted on at all. Stewart may take another outing or two to get back to himself but I think he'll be fine. Topa is a wild card, he could help out or he could be a bust. What we do know for sure is that we need a quality lefty, preferably two lefties for our bullpen if we're going to win playoff series.
  14. No. He's not.
  15. Really good to see Prelipp and Cory Lewis healthy again. I agree that Keaschal and Morris are deserving of a call up to AAA. Next years Spring training could be very fun and Interesting. Lots of talent in the high minors battling for major league spot. Mathews, Keaschal, Morris. I'd say Emmanuel Rodriguez but what's up with him? He re hurt his thumb over a month ago and we've heard absolutely nothing since. Same with Canterino...
  16. Why not move Funderburk or Kiriloff to the 60 day IL and give Randy a roster spot. Depending on how Festa does against the Mets on Tuesday maybe there will be a spot start or two available if Festa doesn't look ready. You can never have too much pitching. On the other hand, if any other teams are interested, we could package him with a more highly touted prospect to get something back that we need, like a good lefty for the Bullpen. After watching Okert and Stewart blow the game last night I think we need to upgrade the bullpen more than the rotation right now...
  17. After watching the Twins bullpen blow the lead Saturday, it's pretty clear we need a LHRP if not two...
  18. Twins have a solid lineup, if they can get and keep everyone healthy. To be taken seriously in October I think we need a playoff caliber starter and at least one lefty handed reliever.
  19. I think the only moves we can hope for are bullpen upgrades. Puk would have been perfect for us. Relatively cheap price (2 mid level prospects), affordable salary and he's controllable for two more years. Exactly what the Twins need, an impact lefty handed reliever. Maybe even two so we can release Theilbar and send Funderburk back to AAA. A playoff starter would be nice, IF we don't have to give up top prospects to get him....but with basically every team looking for pitching, everyone is going to have to overpay for SP probably.
  20. Twins finally reading the rewards of this pitching pipeline we've been promised over the years. Both Zebby and Morris look like potential front line starters. We need to hang on to both of them and keep them healthy. Mathews could even compete for a rotation spot with Festa next year. Moving Paddack and Varland to the bullpen seems inevitable. We still have a good rotation of Lopez Ryan Ober SWR Competition for number 5 spot between Festa and Zebby. Maybe Morris eventually. Possible free agent signing on a short one or two year deal.
  21. Man, both Mathews and Morris could be future all-stars in the Twins rotation. I think both these guys should be untouchable. If we have to trade pitching, go with Raya, Soto or Lewis. Twins should be set position wise the next few years and with Zebby and soon to be Morris both at AAA we could have some fun competition for rotation spots along with Festa. I still hope they pick up pitching at the deadline. At the very least we need one, preferably two lefties for the bullpen to replace Theilbar and Funderburk.
  22. Great to see Pablo get the opportunity to work out of his own jam, he's been pitching like an ace lately. I still think we're one good SP short of a true playoff contender. Glad Lee broke out of his little slump with three hits. He also looked great at short. Much better than Castro who shouldn't be relyed upon as a SS. The one complaint I have is Rocco continually pinch hitting Margot. The guy can't pinch hit, there are better options on the team. I don't even trust Margot in the outfield, every time a ball gets hit his way I cringe. Hopefully we can offload him on another team at the deadline so we don't have to watch his ridiculous PH streak gror and grow...
  23. One of the richest owners in baseball cutting payroll and crying poverty. And to make it even worse, blaming the fans for poor attendance and TV revenue (even though most Minnesotan's don't even have an option to watch the games). Typical Twins ownership. Ok, I'll give them a pass if they actually go out and do some good at the trade deadline, but I won't hold my breathe:)
  24. I think Miranda is our best option. It's really the only way to get his bat in the lineup everyday with Lewis at 3rd. Maybe if Julien ever starts hitting again we could platoon him at first and have Miranda DH those days. We also have Severino at AAA. TONS of home run pop but tons of strikeouts as well. Not sure how well that would translate in the big leagues. He led the minors in homers last year and is doing well again this year. I say if he's not part of our long term infield plan, we should trade him now while his values high.
  25. I'd love it if we could pull this off. Not sure Dobnak alone would be enough to grab Kikuchi though. If we get Kikuchi then a LHRP is the only other true need.
