  1. Hopefully they can find a trade partner for Kepler and get some kind of return for him, rather than just losing him for nothing. We can replace him well enough this year with Martin, Wallner or even Keirsey who can play all three OF positions.
  2. Our offense is fine, what we need is pitching. A playoff caliber starter with at least another year of control. Not a lot of those available, and the few there are, are going to be very expensive. We could also use some bullpen help. Someone like Aroldis Chapman to replace Theilbar should be had pretty cheap. Then maybe another leverage set up type arm with another year or two of control would be great. I just don't see the twins doing much this year. Too gun shy after the few horrible deadline trades last few years...
  3. I'd love to get Luzardo too, but it wouldn't help the team now as you said since he's injured. We would've getting him for next year and hoping for a rebound. Maybe he could pitch in the playoffs this year, but with his struggles all year I doubt the Twins would trust him starting important games...
  4. I think Festa should get one more start to see if he can do any better. His stuff looks great, just needs to command it better. If they send him down, and Paddack still isn't ready, I think Varland will get another few spot starts which worries me. He should be in the bullpen. We're short on reliable starters though. Mathews and Morris are still in AA. We need a good starter at the deadline, and not just a rental either. One impact starter and at least one solid reliever, preferably two and at least one lefty. That would be a successful deadline in my book. I doubt Twins do much of anything though. Maybe they can get a decent reliever for Kepler?
  5. Unfortunately I think it's looking more and more like Lewis is a "Buxton 2.0". Immensely talented, capable of carrying the whole team for weeks at a time, but injured WAY too often. Hoping for a quick and successful recovery, we'll need him for the playoffs if we get there. On a positive note, at least we got Brooks Lee to fill in. Nice to see him get two hits and an RBI in his debut:)
  6. With Royce Lewis unfortunately probably going on the IL I think it's time to call up Brooks Lee to man 2nd base. Miranda can continue to cover 3rd. Keirsey Jr really looks like he wants a shot at the bigs. Looks to me like he's proved everything he needs to in St Paul. Good average, good hr pop. Almost 20 stolen bases. Not to mention he can play great defense at all three outfield positions. That's valuable for a team. Kind of sounds like a better version of Martin if he can produce in the MLB like he has in AAA. Give him a shot, I'm sure he'd give us more than Margot, both offensively and defensively. My guess is when they need an OF they call up Wallner though, which wouldn't be the end of the world if he can limit his strikeouts.
  7. Sadly Lewis is looking more and more like Buxton. Immensely talented, but cannot seem to stay on the field long enough to put up big numbers. With him probably going on the IL does Brooks Lee finally get the chance to play? Article states Brock Stewart is still a long ways from returning, but I read he's throwing one more bullpen on July 5th and then a rehab assignment next week. That sounds like he could be back in two to three weeks, which would be huge for our bullpen.
  8. Buxtons bat finally has heated up too. But yeah, Correa has carried this offense all month, has been a lot of fun to watch. Too bad Lewis got hurt. If he goes on the IL will they just have Miranda play third and call up a pitcher, or will they call up Brooks Lee finally?
  9. Trade him if we can get an impact starting pitcher with control. We'd have to package him with a prospect or two, but if it gets us a playoff starter it'd be worth it. If we can't get that, keep him. He'll be Kepler's replacement in right field next year.
  10. He's the leader of our team. We got a good deal on the contract because of the giants and Mets opting out. Plus, we're not stuck with him for like ten eleven years. Six years with four team options, so if he declined horribly we can just opt out. A lot less risk. And msn he's fun to watch when he's playing like this:)
  11. Seems to me the Twins have been obsessed with sliders the past few years. We've acquired a few guys and then immediately tried to have them throw way more sliders. Problem is if the location sucks, you get home runs. It's too bad the twins give up the most home runs in baseball, because if our starters could keep the ball in the park, we'd have one of the better staffs in the AL...
  12. Agree with just about everyone here. We've got a good enough lineup with a few potential impact bats waiting in St Paul. With Royce going down last night, we may finally see Brooks Lee. I do think we need pitching help. Either go after an impact starter with control, or a solid lefty or set up arm. SP is going to cost a TON this year because of the market, but I don't think we have enough to do much more than a first round elimination. We've got plenty of number 3-6 type guys. We need someone at the top to start playoff games. Who that might be, I have no clue. Hopefully more teams decide they are going to sell in the next few weeks.
  13. I don't think we'll be able to get either one, and it's looking like Luzardo wouldn't even help us much this year since he's struggling and Injured. I would package maybe Gabriel Gonzalez, Severino and Raya to get a good starter though. It would take way more than that for Crochet, but depending on what the other team wants, they might get us something. Remember I think we need relief help too.
  14. Glad that Gabriel Gonzalez is playing again, even if he hasn't done much this year. Walker Jenkins has me a little worried. He hasn't been playing much and when he has been on the field he hasn't really been hitting. One home run on the year? On the other hand Keaschal has really broken out. Anyone know when Emmanuel Rodriguez will be back? He was looking like our minor league hitter of the year before getting hurt...
  15. I think it should be common practice to perform thorough physicals with any new acquisition. Would be great if the Twins could grab a Frontline starter for the playoff push, but this year has too many teams not selling so the prices will be way too high. I do hope we grab some bullpen help at least. Relievers are usually a lot cheaper because of their volatility. Maybe we can get a decent arm with another year or two of control. Our lineup is fine, if we can beef up our pitching staff even a little, I'll call it a win:)
  16. Jax should be our closer until Duran figures some things out. Alcala has taken the next step, was cool to see him hit 101 mph the other night. If we get Stewart and Topa back soon and they pitch well enough, I think the bullpen will be ok. Where we need to improve is the lefties. Okert has been ok, Theilbar and Funderburk are just too wild and inconsistent. I hope they get someone at the deadline. Would Aroldis Chapman be fairly easy to acquire?
  17. Ryans been good, not so much against playoff teams though, same as our other starters. I think we've got a good enough rotation to get us a wild card spot, but a quick exit is likely. We need a number 1-2 type starter to go with Ryan and Lopez. Being it's such a sellers market, the prices to aquire starting pitching this deadline will be way to high for the twins. I expect one or two bullpen additions if anything. Hopefully next off-season we can hit on a free agent SP.
  18. I love watching Buck when he's going good. Hitting lower in the lineup and not being relied upon to be the team's star slugger has taken a lot of the pressure off him. Gold glove defense in center with some pop in his bat....I'd take that for 15 mil a year:)
  19. Twins aren't taking on payroll this year. Sure they could use a number 1 or 2 type starter. But the few that will be available such as Crochet will have astronomical price tags. Sellers market. Just not gonna happen for us this year. I think if anything they'll pick up a reliever or two. Hopefully a good lefty to replace Theilbar. Then dump Farmer and call up Lee. Thatd be s great deadline imo...
  20. The offense really has been clicking, but finally dumping Farmer and calling up Brooks Lee to play second base everyday would help even more. Theilbar also is done, and we can't trust Okert or Funderburk in any close games. We have to go out and get a leverage lefty reliever at the deadline. If we can get that I think our bullpen will be fine especially if we get Stewart and Topa back soon. Varland would also boost the relief corps. Vasquez remains an automatic out and should just bunt Everytime he hits. He's basically on the roster just to keep Jeffers healthy. I think Kepler is expendable at the deadline if we can get a decent reliever in return. Wallner or Keirsey could replace him and produce just as much of not more. Keirsey with a better average and lots of stolen bases, plus can play all three outfield positions. Wallner can crush home runs in bunches, if he doesn't strike out four times per game.
  21. Keaschal has been fun to watch. I think he has more than earned a call up to St Paul once the twins wake up and dump Farmer and call up Lee to play second base everyday. I think both Cory Lewis and Soto just need innings at this point being they're so young. Still figuring out what kind of pitcher they are. Mathews has looked great, imo he is our best pitching prospect.
  22. If the twins are going to make a realistic playoff push, some moves need to be made. Farmer needs to go. We gave him half a season to figure it out. His replacement in Brooks Lee is playing too well right now to not make the move. Theilbar is done and gone too. Since we can't trust Okert or Funderburk in close games, we need to shop for a lefty reliever. If we get one, I think our bullpen will be fine. Especially if we get Stewart and Topa back and move Varland and maybe Paddack there too. We could use a playoff starting pitcher, but the price to pay St the deadline is going to be astronomical and I don't see it happening. Best we can hope for is the one or two internal moves and maybe getting a reliever or two from outside.
  23. I think Miranda has a great chance to become an all-star in the next few years. He's forced his bat into the lineup everyday and if he can shore up his glove work he will probably be our starting first baseman next year. Lewis is at 3rd, Lee will be at 2nd and Miranda is too young to be dubbed a DH. I think s lineup with both Miranda and Larnach looks real good right now. Now we just need to finally dump Farmer and give his roster spot to the more deserving Brooks Lee. Why waste precious MLB development just to run out Farmer who is as automatic of an out as you can get, and will be gone next year anyways?
  24. Better move would be to trade Farmer and Theilbar for anything at all. If nobody wants them, which is very likely then DFA them both. Then call up Brooks Lee to cover second base. He'd be a MASSIVE improvement over Farmer. Then trade for a solid lefty at the deadline to replace Theilbar. I think a reliever or two is all we're going to get this year. Hopefully we get Stewart and Topa back soon. Really wish Canterino would get healthy but he's looking more and more like a lost cause.
  25. Hopefully Ryan can go deep into the game, our A list relievers probably aren't available other than Duran. Both Jax and Alcala have pitched back to back days. It would also be nice to see Correa, Buxton, Lewis and Miranda all in the lineup together today.
