  1. Sure seems like Lee should replace Farmer in the bigs. He can be our second baseman and also spell Correa a few days to keep him healthy. This would also allow Castro to just focus on playing the outfield everyday. I think Zebby needs to get bumped up to AAA. Call up Festa and move Paddack to the bullpen. Varland sure looks cooked as a starter too, think it's time to move him to the bullpen. Severino looks real good lately. Tons of power, switch hitter. Don't look like he's going to have a position to play in the twins infield. Might be a good guy to build a trade package around while his value is high...
  2. As far as the outfield goes, I don't get why Martin is not getting solid playing time. He's been hitting great since he was called back up. Especially with Kepler being hurt I'd rather see Martin out in right than Margot. An outfield of Castro Buxton and Martin looks pretty solid to me... Then you can continue to DH Larnach/Wallner.
  3. If you're left handed and can get left handed hitters out, there will always be a team willing to give you a chance.
  4. Twins won't take on these kind of contracts, nor should they. If we do get a SP which I really hope we do, it should be a younger starter with another year or more of control. We've got the AA and AAA talent, not to mention some major league guys who may be positionally blocked. I'm thinking a package of AK/Larnach/Wallner, Severino and another minor leaguers doing well this year should get us some pitching. Maybe work Kepler into that deal since he's gone this year anyways.
  5. I think they should move Paddack to the bullpen and give his rotation spot to Varland. Give him one more chance to show he can be a starter. Give him one or two starts. If it doesn't go well, stick him in the bullpen and give Festa his shot. We really need a starter and a lefty bullpen arm at the deadline. Theilbar needs to go, he's just a wasted roster spot, and we can trust Okert or Funderburk in leverage situations...
  6. Nice to see Pablo and Ober pitching that well, even though it was the A's. I think it's time to either IL Paddack or move him to the bullpen. Give his rotation spot to Festa for a few spot starts. Also think it's time to give up on Varland being a starter after giving up like 11 runs on Sunday. He should be able to help us more in short stints out of the bullpen like last year. Theilbar is a wasted roster spot, he needs to go. Give his spot to Paddack or Varland for now and then trade for a leverage lefty at the deadline. We could really use a good starter too. Would love to get Crochet or Luzardo but I really doubt it unfortunately.
  7. I think Martin should be replacing Margot the rest of the way, recent hot streak not with standing. Maybe we can get something for him in a trade now. Call up Wallner and Lee. Move Paddack to the BP. Varland too. Give Festa a spot in the rotation for a few spot starts. Move Zebby to St Paul. Theilbar needs to go as well, and then look to grab a leverage lefty at the deadline.
  8. He's our best player no doubt. I think next year will be the final challenge. You see a lot of stars come up, absolutely crush opposing pitching. But then the book and scouting report gets put out on them and they go through difficulties, aka sophomore slump. I think Lewis may be the one guy that there is no scout report on how to get him out. He hits everything! We just need to keep him healthy for a full season. We do that, I think he's a legit MVP candidate.
  9. I think our defense in pretty solid, aside from second base and left field. I think we'll be fine at second once Lee gets his call up. Wallner will likely be our left fielder. Not the greatest fielder but has a cannon of an arm to make up for it I also think Martin should be getting more time in the outfield. These really young guys need to be playing everyday if we want them to finish their development properly.
  10. Best move would be to pick up a SP with control like Crochet or Luzardo. Give the new addition Paddacks place in the rotation and move Paddack to the BP. If we don't aquire a starter, then call up Festa and do the same thing. Basically give Festa his cup of coffee and see if he needs more work in AAA or not. I still think Zebby is our best pitching prospect and should be untouchable in trades. Maybe a package of Kepler, Severino and minor league pitchers gets us a decent starter....?
  11. Sure wish there were some updates on Stewart, Topa and Canterino. Seeing as we aren't really getting updates makes me think these guys are more hurt than initially thought. All three could have had a great impact on our bullpen. I think our best move now is to try to grab a starting pitcher with control at the deadline and move Paddack to the bullpen. Call up Festa and Varland and see who takes over a rotation spot. Move Zebby up to AAA, see what he can do in the Saints rotation. I really think he's our best pitching prospect and should be off limits in trade talks. Festa, Raya, Soto...sure,if it brings us cheap, impact pitching.
  12. Looking like we've got a real good lineup down there in St Paul. Keirsey, Severino and Wallner hitting for power. Brooks Lee playing for a promotion. Will be interesting who the twins decide to keep and who can be trade bait. Everyone knows we need starting pitching. If Miranda will be our first baseman next year, does that make Severino expendable? Do they view Keirsey as a possible Kepler replacement? Wil be an interesting deadline:)
  13. No. Removing Jax would cripple our bullpen. You don't remove your best reliever. Twins should just look to grab a starter with control at the deadline, and look for upgrades in the off-season. Maybe move Paddack to the bullpen if we can pick up a good starter with control.
  14. Pitching is our weakness. I like the idea of moving Paddack in the bullpen and giving his rotation spot to Varland or Festa, with Zebby ready to go right behind them. We NEED to get an impact starter with control at the deadline like Luzardo or Crochet. We also need to dump Theilbar and get a solid lefty for our bullpen since we can't trust either Okert or Funderburk. Farmer and Margot should be gone too. Better options available in Saint Paul.
  15. It's time to finally dump Margot and call up Wallner. Dudes got a league leading 18 home runs, give him a shot and see if he can continue raking in the bigs. Mathews is definitely our best pitching prospect and he needs to be promoted to AAA. Paddack has looked terrible lately. I like the idea of moving him to the bullpen as a long reliever and giving his spot to Varland or Festa, with Zebby waiting for his chance. Keaschal sure looks like a steal from the draft, he should be in AAA soon too. Same with E Rodriguez when he gets healthy. Wish we had some updates on Topa and Canterino. Both those guys could really help our bullpen....
  16. None of these guys would help other than maybe Presley. But, if we're going to take on payroll it needs to be in the rotation. With Lopez struggling and both Ober and Paddack basically being un playable lately, Twins need at least one impact starter at a minimum. I think we could do a little addition by subtraction as well. Try to trade or dump Farmer, Margot and Theilbar. Call up Lee, Wallner and go after a SP with control and a leverage lefty for the bullpen. I doubt the Twins will do much of anything at the deadline though, it's pretty obvious this isn't our year. Don't have the starting pitching that carried us last year...
  17. Sadly, it doesn't matter what he's done in the past, only what he's done this year. He looks cooked. There are other options out there.
  18. Duran will be fine. I've seen him hit 102 a few times this year. Only things he needs to worry about is control. If he can locate his heater and splitter and not hang as many curves, then he'll be just fine. I think the further he gets from his injury his velo will tick up too
  19. I think parting with any high level prospects for RP having career years would be another disaster aka Jorge Lopez. If we can get them healthy I think we have some great right handed weapons in Stewart, Topa, Canterino and Varland. If we do trade for a reliever it should be a high leverage lefty to replace Theilbar. I like Funderburk but don't think him or Okert are high leverage, late inning guys.
  20. Rocco is infuriating. Resting two of your hottest hitters on the same day, not only playing, but STARTING guys out of position. Putting Jackson or Theilbar into a tie game in the late innings? Did we even want to win today? Also, not even trying to hold runners looked pathetic. That one on Jackson where they stole third....looked like Jackson completely forgot there was even a runner out there! Glad he's gone, but Theilbar needs to be next. There's better options available. Hope we get Stewart, Topa and Canterino back sometime...
  21. Everyone keeps talking about getting Vlad Jr to play 1b for us, but Miranda is waaay cheaper and this year is putting up better numbers. I think now that he's healthy and producing, Miranda is our long term first baseman. With Lee playing so well I assume he's going to be pushing for an everyday second base job, which leaves Julien as a platoon hitter or trade candidate.
  22. 17 homers for Wallner. Dudes been hitting lately. If Kepler hits the IL I say give Wallner a shot to see if he can keep it going in the bigs. By the all-star break I think Lee will force the twins to call him up. Santana at first, Lee at second. Miranda dh'ing. Lewis and Correa on the left side, that's a solid infield!
  23. Bullpen definitely needs some work. Glad they released Jackson but now Theilbar needs to be next. They could replace him pretty easily with Funderburk which is a decent short term solution. But high leverage, late game situations I wouldn't trust Okert or Funderburk because of their control issues. We need a solid high strikeouts lefty and another right handed. Especially if we're not getting Topa, Canterino or Stewart back anytime soon. Any one of those guys, along with Varland could really strengthen the BP, just need guys to get healthy. As for lefties, how's Aroldis Chapman's season going? He's on a selling team right?
  24. Vladdy wouldn't be worth the money imo. He's putting up numbers that both Miranda and Santana can match at 1b for us. I'm guessing Miranda will be our starting first baseman next year. I think Kikuchi would be a great get. We have no lefty starters, and with Lopez and Ober struggling and Paddack looking like he might be cooked, Kikuchi could really boost our rotation which is our biggest need. We also could use some relief help. Kirby would be great and I think a leverage lefty would be a boon.
  25. Nice to have Lewis, Correa and Buxton in their primes. Now if we can get some quality pitching we'll have a good shot at the playoffs:)
