Crossing my fingers he can stay on the field. Unfortunately he reminds me too much of a young Buxton. Comes up, looks like a team MVP but keeps getting hurt. Shows flashes of greatness but can never do it long term, and then after 3 or four years the injuries take their toll and the player is basically a shell of their former MVP looking self. Just like Buck:(

Trade Deadline: Scenarios for Your Minnesota Twins
LambchoP commented on wyatt's blog entry in GM: What? Like It's Hard?
I'd love to see us grab a solid starter or at least a bullpen arm. Twins really do need a long term power hitting first baseman but the way Miranda is hitting I think they go with him, being he's cheap and locked up for a long time. Any additions should come on the pitching side or backup utility types to replace Farmer Margot and Vasquez. -
Week in Review: Taking Control
LambchoP replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Julien was the right call for a reset in AAA. He's got to figure out a two strike approach, way too many strikeouts looking. We've been real lucky with our starting pitching health which is huge. We are one injury away from debuting Festa, who hasn't found any consistency in St Paul. Dobnak? Varland? We'd be in real trouble. If we really are going to make a playoff push I think we move Varland to the pen and go after a solid starting pitcher. Preferably one that's not just a straight rental.- 11 replies

Mathews has been great so far, but isn't he on the IL now too? And does anyone know anything about Canterino? It seems like he's pretty much cooked as a starter due to health, but I thought he had a chance to be a real weapon in our bullpen if he could ever stay on the field.

Twins Pitcher of the Month: May 2024
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ryan has looked good but he kind of has me worried. He got absolutely rocked by the Astros last night. Plus there was last year. He looked this great in the first half and then boom, struggled in the second half. Hopefully he can keep doing well. I think Paddack will need a 10 or 15 day IL stint just to manage his innings. Unfortunately there is no great option to fill in for him. Varland has looked bad all year and Festa can't seem to find his control or any consistency. Twins are one injury in the rotation away from being in real trouble...- 5 replies

Twins Daily Minor League Hitter of the Month - May 2024
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Totally agree with the first comment. It is past time to dump dead wood on the team and give opportunity elsewhere. DFA Margot and replace him with Austin Martin or Keirsey Jr. Dump Farmer when Lewis comes back. Letting our lefties actually hit for a whole game would be a good start too, rather than an automatic platoon...- 6 replies

Willi Castro May Be Twins Latest, Greatest Come Up
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Castro has been very good for us. He adds so much value to the team due to his versatility. I wonder what we could get back for him in a trade? His role on the team could potentially be filled by Austin Martin. And if we could get some solid pitching for him I'd say trade him while his value is highest.- 19 replies

Astros 5, Twins 2: Houston Lifts Off Against Ryan
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Vasquez is a good defensive catcher and it's been fun to watch him throwing out potential base stealers. He is pretty much an automatic out at the plate this year though, and it is not sustainable given the struggles of so many of our other RH hitters. I'd say cut or losses and call up Camargo or whoever else is looking good. Wouldn't take much at all to improve over Vasquezs rally killing numbers...- 29 replies

It sure does look like Austin Martin has hit real well since he got sent down. Surely he would be a great improvement over someone like Margot if management would accept they made a mistake and dnf him. Looks like Lee should get moved back to AAA to see if he's ready for the show or not. Jenkins looks like he should go to high A and work towards a late season call up to AAA. Hope E-Rod isn't hurt too bad, I think he's earned a promotion more than anyone this year.

Should the Twins Consider Trading for Mason Miller?
LambchoP replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It all depends on how much we'd have to give up. Keep in mind, he's already injury prone, and young guys throwing 100 plus are most likely going to need tommy John at some point, not to mention to volatility of relievers from year to year. That said ittd be nice to have a cheap closer locked in for a lot of years.- 38 replies

Twins Minor League Report (5/31): Olivar Steals the Show
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Glad to see Cory Lewis pitching again. Raya seems to be all over the place. Hopefully Festa has another good start tonight. If he continues to pitch well he may get a shot with the twins soon. I think Paddack will need a 15 day break to limit his innings soon.- 14 replies

It's been fun to watch Miranda and Larnach hitting their tails off like they don't want to be sent down anytime soon. Julien looks absolutely lost at the plate and I think he really needs a reset in AAA.

Best move would be to DFAd Margot, but I doubt it will happen. Next best idea would be to send Julien down for a reset. Then he can battle with Brooks Lee to see who gets the call back up. Miranda and Larnach are some of our better hitters right now, we need them in the lineup. If AK continues to struggle, replace him temporarily with Martin or Keirsey Jr.

Doncon looking like he can really hit. I'm also curious about the glove and where he'll fit defensively. Keaschal looking like the real deal. Another infielder that can hit! Nice to have, but what I think we really need are pitchers

Love the idea. Been wanting to get a look at Festa in the majors to see what he can do.

Solutions for the Twins’ Slumping Sophomores
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think when Lewis comes back Julien should go down for a reset at AAA and try to find a solution for the strikeouts. Castro and Farmer can hold down 2nd base until either Lee is ready or Julien figures it out. I also think it's time to accept Varland is not a starter and try to use him as another high leverage bullpen piece like late last year. Duran, Alcala and Varland would give us 3 guys in the pen throwing 100mph.- 11 replies

The Long-Term Ramifications of the Jake Cave Trade
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The fact that a lot of Falvey and Levine recent trades have blown up in our faces, shouldn't discourage them from ever trying again. Just stop taking on injured pitchers! Mahle, Dyson, Disco, Topa....nothing you can do about a guy that GETS hurt while playing for us, but guys that end up hurt before throwing a single inning for us? Are we not doing thorough physicals?!- 25 replies

I sure hope Keirsey, E-ROD and Mathews aren't too hurt. It's nice when all of our top prospects are both healthy and producing. Until this injury I was hoping for a Keirsey Jr call up which would open up an every day spot at AAA for Rodriguez.

I think Farmers the kind of guy that needs steady playing time in order to hit well. I couldn't understand why the twins gave him that much money, in a payroll crunch, to be a backup IF when we had younger cheaper guys that could do the same thing. I just keep thinking of what we might have been able to get if we didn't pay Farmer, Santana and Margot. Probably could've used that 15 million plus in the rotation or a power bat at first base or left field...

I think it's been great what we've been able to get out of him. He's still only 23, maybe there's even another gear there yet to be unlocked... I still say we need a top tier starter and one or two high leverage BP guys. Would be nice if Stewart could get healthy. Duran, Jax, Stewart, Alcala and Varland looks like a powerful bullpen to me.
