Between Mathews and Morris we have some good looking pitchers in our system. I'd rank both these guys higher than Raya and Soto. Hopefully we pick up a major league starter at the trade deadline because I'd bet both these guys won't make their debut next year. Hopefully 2026. SWR, Festa, Mathews and Morris. Lots of cheap controllable pitchers if we can keep them healthy.

It sure looks like if we can find a trade partner for Kepler then Keirsey looks more than ready to replace him. On the pitching side I think we should look at packaging Raya or Soto as trade bait to get some starting pitching if we can. I'm not as high on them as the prospect rankings are ..

Castro and Miranda have improved and helped save this team in a big way. Also nice to see Buxton and Correa playing to their abilities. If this team is going to seriously make a playoff push, both Vasquez and Farmer need to go, ASAP. Vasquez is on the roster solely for his defense, but his defense just cost us a game. Offensively he's as automatic of an out as you can get. Any replacement at all would be better. And as far as Farmer goes, he's a wasted roster spot. Especially when you consider Brooks Lee is ready to take the everyday second base job. I really don't understand what they're waiting for...

When you lose this many one run games you gotta ask why? Management. I put this one on Rocco. Vasquez is the WORST hitter in MLB. We play him for his defense, but his defense cost us a run. Why on earth would he hit in the 10th inning with a runner on rather than pinch hit with Jeffers. Also, why not let Buxton hit? Dudes been on a tear and Roccos response is to sit him in an important game. I don't get it, I'd love a real manager who wants to win...

I think there's really no need to rush his development with his young age and our starting pitching depth ahead of him on the pecking order. I think they slowly up his pitch counts throughout the year. He may eventually have to be a long reliever , bullpen guy, but until then starters are much more valuable. I think if the Twins target a starter at the deadline this year Raya would be a pitcher to deal, along with Severino who's positionally blocked at the major league level but is absolutely smashing at St Paul. Severino, Raya and some other AA prospect might get us some much needed pitching help I'd throw Kepler in that mix too since we're losing him at the end of the year anyways. Wallner can take his spot easily.

Glad to see Festa get a W and get that first start out of the way. Correa avoiding serious injury is probably the best news today. Farmer needs to go. He was the ONL twin that didn't reach base. They've given him half a season to work it out, what are they waiting for? Especially with Lee raking in St Paul the time is now. Dump Farmer and give Lee second base. Will help our lineup incredibly. After Farmer, Theilbar is next. If they would have done that in the off-season they could have saved 10-11 million and used it somewhere else. Too late for that though, fix the mistake now though and don't continue running guys out there that will cost us games.

Why waste anymore time? It's long past due to dump Farmer, especially after last night when he was the only twin not to get on base. Get Lee up here and let him run with the second base job. Keaschal can take his place in St Paul. Both Wallner and Severino are smashing this month and look like legit HR champions. I know Severino doesn't really have a position on the twins right now, but it'd be nice to see if his power plays in the bigs. I also think he's probably our best trade bait.

Twins don't need anymore utility bats they need pitching. Starters and relievers. Would love to get Rodgers in our bullpen. Think we need a lefty a bit more though. I know we've got three right now but I don't trust any of them in close games, especially Theilbar and Funderburk.

Too early in his career to be talking about an extension. We've got him for what, 5 more years already? See if he can stay healthy, then get something done when he's a year or two from free agency. Having Buxton and Lewis both signed to long term expensive contracts could go wrong in a big way with their injury histories. That being said, Royce is our best player and would love to see him play here his whole career. Just not sure we can afford another big contract.

I just about had a heart attack when I saw Correa get plunked last night. Dodged a bullet there. Was nice to see Funderburk get the team some revenge after they hit Buxton and almost ended Correas season...

I think we should dangle Farmer Margot and Santana and get whatever we can for them. Try and use Kepler to get some pitching, maybe throw in someone like Severino or Helman who's hitting real well but positionally blocked at the MLB level. We need both SP and bullpen help. And not depth type guys but actual impact guys. Should see what CWS and Mia wants for Crochet and Luzardo. Luzardo especially should come cheap now that he's hurt. As long as it isn't tommy John it would be a move to improve the rotation next year. Crochet would help now and next year but his price tags gonna be sky high. I say pay it, we need an ace.

Good question. Severino sure looks like a prototypical power hitting first baseman. He's already on the 40 man. Miranda at 1. Lee at 2. Correa at SS with Lewis at 3. Severino could backup first and 3rd with Keaschal on his way as well. That puts Castro in the outfield with Buxton, Larnach, Martin and Keirsey Jr and E Rodriguez.
-
Morris and Zebby are definitely two pitchers to watch going forward. Lee just keeps on hitting like he wants that second base job. How about Severino? He sure seems to have figured things out. Is he our best trade bait I wonder? Switch hitting, home run hitting infielder who's been on a tear lately. Twins just don't have an opening anywhere in our infield for him. Package him with Kiriloff or Wallner and another A ball prospect maybe gets us some pitching. Maybe work Kepler into that package since we're losing him anyways this year...

Byron Buxton Joins an Elite Group in Twins History
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If he can continue to hit like he has this year then the 15 million per year will be well worth it. Look at this last off-season. We have glove first defensive specialist center fielders getting 10 million per year...of course it remains to be seen how often Buck can stay on the field as he ages...- 10 replies

Lee should be playing second base for the Twins. I also think now that Paddack is on the IL Festa should get a few spot starts. I don't trust Varland as a starter anymore and I think the should call him up to help in the bullpen. Until Duran figures some things out, Topa and Stewart get healthy, and we finally dump Theilbar, there's spots up for grabs... I think we need to grab a reliever or two at the deadline, preferably a lefty to replace Theilbar.

Final: Diamondbacks 5, Twins 4: Comeback Thwarted Late
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Good news on Topa and Stewart, hopefully getting them back soon will help the pen a lot. Too bad about Canterino though. Iv always thought he had the best stuff out of all our minor league pitchers and would be a huge weapon in the bullpen. Sure sounds like he's done though, guy just can't stay on the field. Heck he can't even GET on the field. Do the twins give up on him and give his roster spot to someone else? I'm sure if he goes to another team he'll finally get healthy and become an all star closer lol...- 42 replies

I think Zebby should get a late season AAA bump. Varland and Canterino need to be in the pen. If we ever get Topa, Stewart, Varland and Canterino in our bullpen it could be a good one. I think Bouschly or Festa should get a few spot starts while Paddack is down, but I'm guessing Varland will get one more chance.

I'd also like to see Lee take Farmers roster spot and have him play everyday at second. I'd like to see Keirsey Jr to see how he does but that's a long shot. My guess is they'll give Wallner another shot soon. I'd like to see Festa get a cup of coffee, dnd now is the time with Paddack on the IL. I don't trust Varland to start anymore, should put him in the BP.

Twins Pre-Trade Deadline Needs - Potential In-House Solutions
LambchoP commented on LA Vikes Fan's blog entry in LA Vikes Fan
I like the idea of Festa getting the call and taking Paddacks spot in the rotation. Lee should also be called up while he's hitting so well. He can be our everyday 2nd baseman and spell Correa at short every now and then. I doubt we can get anything for them, but with this recent "hot streak" I think the Twins should get whatever they can for Farmer and Margot, even if just to open spots for Lee and Wallner/Keirsey Jr. Theilbar needs to go to. We need both a starting pitcher, and a leverage lefty reliever at the deadline.
