The Twins Should Trade Alex Kirilloff to the Angels
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't like this. If we trade for a pitcher it needs to be an impact pitcher that we can use in the playoffs. We've got plenty of number 4-5 type starters, what we need are top of the rotation guys. As for Kiriloff, trading him now will net us basically nothing. Plus, if he really has been hurt all year, maybe he can finally put it all together next year. Miranda did it right? Plus, both Santana and Kepler will be gone next year. Pretty sure first base will be covered by Miranda or Lewis, but there may be at bats in the outfield. I say give him one more year, after that time to move on. -
Looks like our top pitching prospects should be Mathews and Morris over Festa and Raya. Soto looked real good too, hopefully he can build on it. Corey Lewis got rocked, but he's a rookie too. These guys in A ball just need innings and experience at this point. I'm a little worried about Jenkins, where has his power gone? On the other hand I think there's a chance of Keaschal playing next year in AAA and getting a September call up if he keeps playing like this. Recent injuries aside, it's nice to see the Twins with this deep pool of infielders. Maybe try to package some of them for some pitching help, everyone knows we need it.

Lee looked like a gold Glover at second base, he sure seems like the real deal. I had to laugh when I looked at our lineup yesterday. I get that we have Correa, Miranda and Buxton banged up. But calling up a third catcher so Vasquez can play third base? Lol we're lucky they hardly hit anything to him. It's a miracle we scraped out a win, and we'll need another miracle today. With Snell, a lefty pitching, we know we're going to see Margot leading off, Vasquez hitting cleanup...Farmer would've been out there had he not been hurt.

Great to see Priellip back. Hopefully we can do the same for Canterino eventually. It's too bad, but it sure seems like Festa and Raya are really struggling and may be folding a bit under the pressure of being a top prospect. I think if a team is willing to offer up a controllable starting pitcher then we should build a package around one or both of Festa and Raya. Seems to me Zebby Mathews and Morris have both passed up the other two on our pitching prospect lists

Why on earth would you DH your backup catcher who is also the worst hitters on the team? Especially on the same night you have Margot hitting leadoff?! Did Rocco even want to win this one? Why call up Camargo just to DH the automatic out Vasquez. His only value is being a good defensive catcher, so naturally Rocco sends him out there as a DH....

Twins Trade Deadline: The Bailey Ober Threshold
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Barring injuries, our lineup is fine. Maybe try to trade Farmer Margot and possibly Santana for some prospects. Bullpen should be solid if we can trade for a lefty reliever. I do think we need a playoff caliber starter to take the place of Paddack or SWR. Eovaldi would be great, Flaherty or maybe Fedde, if they'd be willing to trade with us in the division. I highly doubt we spend the farm on someone like Crochet or take on any large contracts...- 54 replies

Keaschal sure looks like the real deal, moving really quickly through the minors. He's probably our best trade chip besides the untouchable guys like Jenkins, Lee and E Rodriguez.

The Twins Don't Need Another Righty Setup Man
LambchoP replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think at the very least we need a lefty for the bullpen. Maybe we keep one of either Theilbar or Okert for our playoff roster but I've got little to no faith in either of them in close games.- 45 replies

The Twins Don't Need Another Righty Setup Man
LambchoP replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think we need an impact starter with another year of control at least. We could then move Paddack to the bullpen strengthening our rotation and relief corps. All we need then is a set up type lefty reliever and I'd be happy with our deadline. Of course, if we could trade Farmer, Margot and or Santana for anything at all would be a bonus:)- 45 replies

I also think either Julien or Severino could be a good trade piece. Both seem blocked in our infield. Maybe we can package them with a few others to gain some pitching help? If they do trade these young guys, I hope it's for a starter, and one with at least another year of control. Fedde looked pretty good against us yesterday....Crochet and Luzardo will be too expensive but Fedde? Kikuchi? Tyler Anderson?

I'd take Kikuchi. Give him Paddacks spot in the rotation and have Paddack pitch in relief. Strengthens our rotation and bullpen. Would be nice to have a lefty starter on the staff too. I would rather them go after a starting pitcher with at least another year of control however. I'm not too impressed with Paddack being a starter next year, and as good as SWR has looked so far, I'm expecting some regression soon once the league has had a good look at him...

I think our best infield alignment for the best offense would be Miranda at 1b. Lee at 2nd. Correa at SS. Lewis at 3rd. Julien and Castro as backup. This will require Miranda learning and playing more first, and Lee learning to play second. Didn't he play 2nd in the minors though?

Four Takeaways From the Minnesota Twins' First Half
LambchoP replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Good first half, but if we're going to catch Cleveland or even TRY to win a playoff series, then we need a solid starter and at least one reliever. Preferably a real good lefty and a good righty. Time to move on from Farmer Margot and Santana. Trade them for whatever we can get, even if it's just a salary dump. We're getting much better production from our prospects and young players and it will be great for their development to play meaningful September games. Should be a fun second half of we can stay healthy, especially the pitching staff.- 73 replies

What went wrong for David Festa?
LambchoP commented on Eric Blonigen's blog entry in Eric’s deep dive corner
It was only two starts, Festa will be fine. Needs to work on his command and his changeups which got crushed. He also either needs another pitch, or figure out a better way to attack lefties. This was his first cup of coffee in the majors, I think Festa will be pitching for the Twins for many years still. -
Is Emmanuel Rodriguez still hurt? I thought I read he was back again after jamming his thumb sliding into second.

Twins Minor League Report (7/9): Matthews Meets His Match
LambchoP replied to Steve Lein's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Nice to see Stewart, Gabriel Gonzalez and Emmanuel Rodriguez all healthy again. Getting Stewart back will be a real boon for our pen down the stretch and into the playoffs. Hopefully Topa can follow suit.- 29 replies

It's nice to see a young guy walking as much as striking out. He'll be a good player for us I'm sure, but he's still years away. I think Emmanuel Rodriguez will be the outfielder to look at for a call up next year if he keeps hitting like he has this year. Maybe eventually take over left field. Rodriguez, Buxton and Wallner is a pretty good OF.

I think our offense is good enough. What we need is an impact starter who can take the rotation spot from Paddack and move Paddack to the bullpen the rest of the year. With him, Stewart and Topa, we've got plenty of righties. We need to find a solid late inning lefty and I'll feel good about our playoff chances. Need a starter and lefty reliever. If we can dump Farmer for anything at all, even better...

Would be great to get Eovaldi, especially if the rangers agree to eat some of his salary. Robertson would be a nice upgrade to our bullpen, but I think we need a lefty more than righties. Theilbar has looked better lately, but I've got little to no trust in Funderburk or Okert in close games.
