  1. Hector Norris can't be any worse than Okert or Richards can he? Our bullpen needs a real shakeup. Aside from our top four in Duran Jax Alcala and Sands, we need help. I like what I've seen from Henriquez in SSS and Winder looked much better before his demotion. Would be nice to see if Varland can do well in the pen again like he did last year. I think it's pretty clear to everyone other than the Twins that he is not a viable starter.
  2. I'll say it. Sure, resting Correa and Buxton now may help them be a little fresher in October playoffs. Problem is, without them now, do we even make the playoffs? Lately it's looking like a big NO. Our offense is slumping and relying on three rookies in our rotation is incredibly risky. We've been pretty lucky so far with Festa and Zebby, but there are going to be some real tough learning experiences from a guy who was pitching in A ball this year. Our weak bullpen has been exposed as well. Too top heavy. We've a solid group with Duran, Jax, Alcala and Sands. But as we just saw last night, when Rocco sends anyone else out there, disaster usually strikes. I think we need our star players out there playing NOW, or our season may be over before the playoffs. KC playing like they want it bad:(
  3. Another good outing for Cory Lewis. Looks like he could start next year in AAA and with continued performance earn a mid to late season call up. Why on earth are the Twins so down on Keirsey? I really would like to know. Dudes done everything possible in AAA to earn a call up, yet we continue to run guys like Margot out there. Keirsey at least plays all three OF positions so he's our best bet for a true Buxton CF backup. I get that he's not on the 40 man,but you can't tell me there's nobody that has earned a DFA on the current roster. One word, Okert! Dump him, he's done. Give his spot to Winder, or if they're really desperate for another lefty, add Aaron Rozek the take Okert's bullpen spot.
  4. Correa still sounds like he's a ways off. Buxton will be eligible to return on Friday, but does anyone actually believe he will? I'm guessing Monday, or whenever we start our second home stand series. We need Correa to take over for Castro and Buck to man CF. Another boost for both the lineup and defense is Brooks Lee. He's a much better defender than Julien or Martin and I would much rather see Lee hitting in a close game rather than the strikeout king Julien. As is always the case with this team, year after year, IF we can get everyone healthy at the same time we'll be in good shape. Of course it's always a big IF. At some point someone has got to ask the question, why we can never keep our best players on the field.
  5. Hopefully he can keep this good run going. If he can keep this up through next year, he's well worth the 10 million. If he reverts back to how he hit in the beginning of the year or his defense starts to decline, the twins will have some decisions to make. Unfortunately Camargo doesn't look ready for MLB pitching and we have nobody else knocking on the door of the upper minors either.
  6. I know a few guys who could be DFA'D to free up some 40 man roster spots. Okert and Farmer for sure. I'd say Margot as well, but of course we will ride it out with these guys the rest of the year rather than trying anyone else ALA Severino, Keirsey, Eeles....
  7. Hate to sound like a broken record, but another Rocco lost tonight. Okert has no business being on a major league roster. Especially since he was only facing one lefty. Rocco said everyone was available tonight....then why did you put our worst reliever out there to face the top of the order? Okert should have been DFA'D months ago. I've got to believe our best AAA reliever or waiver wire claim could add more value than Okert at this point. Bullpen is really showing as a weakness, too top heavy. Very good guys in Duran, Jax, Alcala and Sands. After that, you never know what you're going to get. I will say Henriquez has looked decent in SSS. So did Winder before being sent down. Maybe give him okerts spot
  8. Anyone besides Okert would have been the smarter move. Theilbar or Sands would have instilled more confidence if Rocco didn't want Alcala back out there yet. I think he should have gone to him. Sure, they've been getting used a lot all year. But we were set up by a great game by Ober going 6. Jax 7th. Alcala or Sands 8th and Duran closes it. That's how you draw up a by the book win
  9. Yup, that's the trouble. Also the only reason Keirsey hasn't gotten his chance too I think. Too bad Severino doesn't play 2nd. Switch hitter, MASSIVE power, and he's already on the 40 man roster. Could he do any better than Julien until Lee comes back? The home run potential certainly is tempting, but only if he can keep his strikeouts in check, which has been his biggest issue so far in his pro career.
  10. Makes me wonder if there isn't a more serious injury they're not telling us about. Not sure why, it's looking like his season is over already. Unless his 2025 season is in jeopardy, report the injury, let's get him healthy and ready to go for spring training. Plan for and hope for an early AAA promotion. Or, if he starts there and does well, maybe a late season debut. Hopefully based on results and not out of need because of injury.
  11. I like any lineup that has Correa, Buxton, Lewis, Miranda and Wallner in it. Also, any lineup WITHOUT Farmer or Margot is a win in my book. Neither of these two should make the playoff roster, which is why I'd like to see a Keirsey call up before then, to see if he'd be a better replacement for Margot.
  12. I'm curious how the IF will play our next year. Lewis has looked a bit sketchy at 3rd, Miranda being the much better defender there. Do they train Royce to play first? What if we resign Santana another year like I hope they do? Gotta find a way to get Correa, Buxton, Lewis and Miranda all in the same lineup. Good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.
  13. Santana is well deserving of a gold glove this year, if not the platinum glove. Not sure I trust these numbers all that much. Buxton with a negative defensive value? No way. Correa should have much better numbers too. If he played more games I'd say he is one of the better defenders in the AL. I think Wallner will be a capable replacement for Kepler next year in RF. It will be real tough to replace Kep's stellar defense, but Wallner has that absolute cannon of an arm. Not sure what to do about Lewis, he's been kind of sketchy at 3rd. Miranda seems the better fielder there. Do we train Lewis to be our 1st baseman then? I like the idea of resigning Santana another year. Will be interesting to see how they get all these bats in the lineup. Good problem to have:)
  14. It's great that Eeles is getting time in the OF now. Being able to cover multiple positions ala Willi Castro, will make it a lot easier to find him a roster spot when he's ready. I really wish either him or Keirsey Jr would have gotten the call when Buxton went down rather than recalling Julien. I really want to see what these young kids can do. Not an ideal time in a playoff run I know, but for a week or two until Buxton's ready? Keirsey especially could be a real spark plug for our lineup.
  15. Sands has been very good this year and has replaced Stewart as our number 4 relief arm after Duran, Jax and Alcala. Those four, plus a healthy Stewart and Topa have the makings of a very strong bullpen next year. If we can add one, hopefully two solid lefties in the off-season, and possibly add Varland and Canterino to the mix, our relief corps could be a real strength. As we've seen this year, Injuries pile up. You need depth and you can NEVER have too much pitching.
  16. Yes, we need Correa and Buxton back. Without our stars out there our offense tends to fall asleep for a few games. Imagine a lineup with Correa, Lewis, Buxton, Miranda and Wallner. That's a lineup that should score runs and hit for power. It's just a shame we never get to see it. One other thing, why does Rocco keep putting Margot out there as a PH. I swear he's doing it out of stubborn ness at this point. Sometimes it makes more sense NOT to pinch hit. If these young left handed hitters never get an opportunity to hit lefties, how are they ever supposed to learn and improve? Look at Kepler. Rocco usually lets him hit and his AVG is actually better against lefties.
  17. He had a decent game last night, but he's instilled no confidence in his at bats since his call up, and really all year. Now that the scouting reports are out on him, he needs to make a major adjustment and soon. As someone else said, I would have rather seen Keirsey called up to replace Buxton. The dude has done absolutely everything he can in AAA. Hits for average, a little pop, steals bases and plays a solid all three OF positions. How was that not more valuable than a strikeout prone Julien. Maybe if Lee would have been healthy we wouldn't have called up Julien. Either way I want to see if Keirsey can continue his successful year in MLB
  18. Wish we would get an update on his injury timeframe. I think we should pump the brakes a bit on being even the Twins top prospect. Sure, he had a good first half, but he's been hurt ever since. Until he can stay healthy and produce consistently in the top levels of the minors, you never know what can happen. If he's constantly hurt or never improves his contact, he could end up another Sano. If his hitting improves with more experience and he stays on the field, he could be our OF of the future. An outfield of Rodriguez, Buxton and Wallner looks pretty nice. Like all our guys it seems, health will be the biggest sticking point. Why can't we ever seem to keep our stars and top prospects healthy?
  19. Will be a good tough test for Zebby pitching against a good team on the road. Hopefully the jitters from his debut are receded a bit and he can just get out there and pitch like business as usual. Anything past the 5th inning he can give us would be huge because our A list arms in the pen have been way too overworked lately. This means we'll probably see Richards, Hernandez, Theilbar and Okert. Most likely they'll give up some runs, so we're going to have to out slug them tonight I think.
  20. Jax has been our best reliever this year by far. He also seems pretty durable the last few years. Not sure how many more years of control we have on him, but building a bullpen around Jax, Duran, Alcala, Sands and maybe Stewart is a good start. If we can get a healthy and productive Topa back and then sign one or two lefties in the off-season to replace Theilbar, we really would have one of the better pens in baseball.
  21. Agreed. It's pure stupidity to run into an out at home when you clearly have no chance of being safe. I really only like the contact play if it's a safety squeeze bunt. Rocco lost us last nights game pure and simple. Bad bullpen usage, dumb contact play, pinch hitting to put Vasquez out there? These getaway days are getting pretty frustrating to watch.
  22. Tough loss, but I put this one on Rocco. Up four runs, Alcala shouldn't have even been out there after already pitching three times this series. Then, there was no reason to leave him in there when it was obvious it wasn't his night and he was getting crushed. Also, why on earth does Rocco pinch hit Vasquez for Larnach, just because Vasquez hits right handed. Larnach has a better chance of getting a hit off a lefty imo. These "getaway" days are getting pretty frustrating from a management pov. We need Buxton and Correa back ASAP. If Castro goes on the IL now we are truly screwed. We already have no true CF on the team because they refuse to call up Keirsey. If Castro is hurt we'd have to rely on Farmer as our everyday SS. A guy hitting under .200. Julien should never have been called up, he's not viable at this point. Not sure if Severino can play 2nd but maybe his switch hitting power would help the lineup more than Juliens strikeouts looking. What's up with Lee?
  23. Morris was due for a clunker at some point. They've been pretty aggressive with his promotions. He's still young too, he'll be just fine. Good AAA depth for next year. Hopefully we see one of Zebby or Festa in AAA to start the year because that'd mean we have a healthy rotation and hopefully signed a competent starter in the off-season. When will Severino get a shot? I don't think he plays second does he? If he did I'd have loved to see him called up rather than the automatic strikeout Julien. I know Severino K's a lot too, but his game changing power and switch hitting could be a nice boost for this banged up lineup... Wouldn't mind seeing Keirsey in the OF soon too. I cringe Everytime Margot is out in CF.
  24. We need Buxton and Correa back ASAP. Correa was supposed to be out a week or two and here we are over a month later and no rehab assignment. I worry about our bullpen usage too. With three rookies in our rotation, there is going to be a lot of 4-5 inning starts. That puts tremendous strain on an already overworked bullpen and I worry that our top three guys in Duran, Jax and Alcala are going to break down having to pitch 3 out of 4 games every series. Rocco needs to be smarter about their use too. He never should have went to Alcala with a 4 run lead with him being used so much this series. San Diego will be a good test for our young pitchers and banged up lineup. And oh yeah, Julien should never have been called up to take Buxtons place, dudes an automatic out. I also hate Margot in center. Keirsey should have gotten his chance by now...
  25. I think Alcala having already pitched to Texas three times was probably a bit overused, like most of our good relief arms. Probably should have had the day off due to his usage, but then who do you put in instead? Jax was already going to pitch later and Sands and Duran had been used a lot in the series too. Either way, it was clear Texas was crushing Alcala and Rocco should never have left him out there that long. He should have been taken out before the Garcia homer.
