    Much needed win. Festa looks really good, lots of K's, but really needs to find a way to be more efficient and go deeper into games. If he can do that, I think he has a shot at the number 5 rotation spot. Bullpen was unbelievable today. Offense, not so much. When you have more than 10 hits a game, you should be able to score runs. At least we didn't strikeout over and over, but that's more likely because Boston's pen sucks. I have to say it yet again, why is Rocco pinch hitting Margot?! Dude's 0-30 it's obvious to anyone watching he sucks as a PH. It makes even less sense when he had Jeffers or a lefty Julien available. Or even better, Farmer, who has been one of our better hitters lately. I hate Rocco's childish, stubborn managing style, continually making dumb moves because eventually it might work. Glad we have Pablo going today, but if he can't pitch real deep we are in trouble because we have basically nobody available in the pen. Wonder if we call up a fresh arm? Alcala would be the smart move, so it'll probably be someone else.

    I completely understand not wanting to pay the huge prospect price for some of the starters that were available, but you can't tell me we couldn't have given up one or two mid level guys for someone like AJ Puk, who was a perfect lefty for for our pen, has been dominant since the trade, AND is under control next year too. Our GM is a coward. We hoarded prospects, great. Some of them might pan out,most won't. I sure hope they try to leverage some of them for some pitching help this off-season. If they stand on their hands and do nothing again aside from a few minor league injured cast offs, this fandom will revolt, as they should!

    Ober has been a good send for this rotation. We should have a solid 1-3 next year with Lopez, Ober and Ryan. I'm guessing 4 and 5 will be SWR and Paddack/Festa, but I really hope we sign a veteran who can eat innings until Zebby/Morris/Lewis etc are actually ready. Depth is key, as we already know.

    I love hearing about these guys and all the good they do for people and the community. So much better than these stupid kids who get the 100 million dollar contracts and go wild with their money and end up in trouble for drugs, guns and other crimes. For some reason you hear about those guys in the NFL and NBA all the time but not so much in the MLB. Baseball has some really classy players and it's a good influence on the younger generation.

    Hopefully this late season collapse and missed playoffs will result in at least a few positives. Someone needs to be held accountable, so the coaching staff should be shaken up. If not Rocco I'd say the hitting coaches need to go. As far as ownership, they'll have to admit that trying to put together a playoff team on a tight budget with cast offs and injured players ,and then not improving the team at all in July is not a strategy for winning. They try to cry poverty because attendance is down, well the best way to boost attendance is to field a winning team. Nobody wants to spend a lot of money to come watch the twins when we have a young starter pitch three innings and the offense, with no Buxton, no Correa, no Lewis, get maybe 3 hits all night and score one or two runs. No thank you. Put a better team together, attendance will go up. Especially if the team is good enough for the playoffs, because that would add to profit too. The deeper a team plays into the playoffs, the more money there is. Of course it's not very likely that extra money would be put back into the team with this ownership:(

    Keirsey should have taken Margots roster spot a long time ago, but he hits left handed so we can't have that. Lots of our young guys had a real solid season at AAA. Keirsey, Eeles, Mccusker, Severino. Not to mention Rosario and Rodriguez. If just a few of these guys pan out they should be able to help the big league club next year. Either on the field or as trade bait for pitching help. I'm glad Cory Lewis got a AAA start under his belt. Does he always only throw 88-90 mph though? Chances are that won't fly in the bigs.

    Past failures at the deadline is not an excuse to not make any trades this year. Competitive windows can close up in an instant, and with more payroll cutting this off-season, our window may be closing faster than it should be. Maybe they surprise us this off-season with something. Maybe they held on to all our prospects at the deadline so they could make some moves in the off-season. We need a lot of pitching help and offensively we need to find guys who can hit and drive in runs, with almost zero money to do it with.... we'll see I guess

    We have Correa for at least four more years and he needs to be our shortstop. That is where he provides the most value. Your highest paid players on the team need to play those premium positions. Castro is not a SS. Lee has looked ok there and will probably be the backup. I think our best infield alignment is Lee at 2nd Correa at SS and Lewis at 3rd. As far as 1st base goes, of Miranda can find his power again, maybe he can stick there along with Julien, again, if he can learn to hit. Ideally I'd love to see them go out and get a true power hitting first baseman, but any money we may have has to go to pitching. Maybe try to trade some of these infielders for pitching help too

    The playoffs are all about who gets hot at the right time. Tigers are surging and putting together a last minute push. Meanwhile the twins are completely falling apart. I'm sure it would help if Rocco would actually play our best players everyday, maybe put together the same lineup and defensive alignment every now and then. Baseball is about consistency and when our guys don't even know if they'll be playing day to day, or where they'll be playing or hitting in the lineup, it's got to be hard to get on a routine. Unless some changes are made with the coaching staff and the pitching staff, next year might be a long losing season....

    Our pen is a joke. We dumped Alcala for Irvin so that we could get "length" out of him. He's faced one batter? Alcala looked great his last time out pitching two innings. If we're not going to use Irvin as a multi inning guy why the heck did we bring him in?! Bigger problem is our lineup. It is infuriating that every day Rocco sits Lewis Buxton or Correa. The last two have looked great so far, and totally healthy since they came off the IL. They're our best players, if we want to make the playoffs then they need to be out there playing everyday! I get that ownership screwed the team and Rocco can only manage with what he's got, but he sure does a poor job of it. Constantly pinch hitting Margot and refusing to use anyone else is getting ridiculous....

    Looks like Austin Martin and Keirsey would probably be providing more offense than Brooks Lee/Julien and Margot.....it really looks like Lee and Julien need more seasoning in AAA to work on their swing. Maybe Eeles will have a big spring training and can hold down second base until Lee figures it out? I really don't think Julien is ever going to be our answer there.

    The thing that bothers me most is the starting lineup. Here we are, in the fight of our lives trying to sneak into the playoffs, and Rocco decides basically every game one or two of Lewis Buxton and Correa need the day off...wtf?! If we're going to hang on, our guys need to be out there, everyday. Especially since Buxton and Correa have looked great since they came back. You would think these guys would be fighting to be out there everyday if they really wanted to rally the team and take a playoff spot. The way everyone looks now, especially Rocco, is that they'd be just fine missing the playoffs because they're all too tired and want to go home. No fight in this team at all, it's sad. Go Vikings I guess:)

    Lopez AND Over have been pitching like team aces this year. What's held us back is Ryan going down and relying on three rookies that are at their limits as far as durability and stamina goes SWR should be fine next year but it's obvious he's on fumes. Festa and Zebby have shown flashes of great stuff, but we're probably rushed a bit due to needed big league starters. These last three guys only throwing a couple innings each start has worn down our pen so much that any lead we may have is in constant jeopardy.

    Wish we'd get some kind of update but I haven't seen anything pretty much all year. Maybe we'll hear something in the off season? I always thought Canterino had some of the best stuff in our system, just not the durability and stamina to be the starter the twins wanted him to be. If they stick him in the pen he could let it fly and be a real weapon.

    I like what I've seen from him this year. I wouldn't rely on him as a closer or top setup man yet. Start him in lower leverage situations next year and let him work his way up like with Brock Stewart and Sands. If we can pick up a lefty or two, we should have a decent bullpen next year. Duran, Jax, Alcala, Sands Stewart, Topa, Henriquez Varland, Paddack?, lefty Canterino, Headrick, Prelipp, Raya Do we have Cole Irvin next year? One or two free agent signings to raise the ceiling and create depth should give us a good group

    Neither of these guys are going to save us even if they do pitch again this year which I highly doubt. As far as next year, I think we should try to find a way to dump Paddacks 7.5 million dollar salary and put that towards signing a legit SP to pair with Pablo. Flaherty, Eovaldi, Kikuchi....we should be able to afford 20 million if we dump Paddack. We're already getting Kepler, Farmer, Margot, Santana and Theilbar off the books. As for Topa, he's cheap enough and we need all the help we can get in the bullpen. As we've seen, pitching and depth gets you to the playoffs.

    I would love another year of Santana with his professional at bats and gold glove caliber defense. As everyone already said though, we probably won't spend any money at all sadly. My guess is we go with Miranda and maybe Julien at 1st. Maybe give Severino a shot of Julien struggles again. One thing in this article I found really pathetic is Santana is one of only two players on our entire team that have enough at bats to qualify for leaderboards. Only two players, that is really sad....

    Pulling Wallner for Margot was infuriating! Wallner has already shown this year he can hit lefties, plus he had two hits already. Margot has shown her sucks! 0-29 pinch hitting. For a manager who goes off of numbers so much it makes no sense that he refuses to change up. Plus, after pinch hitting, we were stuck with Margot in right field for the last three innings in a tight game. Dude is horrible on defense and losing Wallner arm late in the game is just dumb. Rocco is lucky we won, no thanks to him....

    I think both Eeles and Mccusker should factor into the big league roster next year. It makes it kind of tough that almost all these young kids coming up hit left handed. With the platoon obsessed Rocco calling the shots it'll be interesting to see how they get at bats for everyone. Management needs to go outside the organization for a good lefty for next year. Okert looks like a DFA and Funderburk, while younger and maybe a bit longer of a leash, hasn't shown much either. With Theilbar probably gone, we need someone else.

    I think it's the more preventable injuries that are frustrating like pulled hamstrings, tight groins. Medical staff needs to teach these guys better preventative measures to stay healthy. Also, durability should be a skill that teams look at when drafting, developing or signing free agents. Some guys like Buxton and Lewis are just injury prone and always will be. Guys like Santana or Bobby Witt are everyday players who take care of themselves well enough to not get injured. Those are the guys you want. Otherwise with a team of injury prone stars, the only option is to build solid depth and lots of it ...

    It won't last of course, but might as well ride the hot bat until he comes crashing down again. Right now he's a much better hitter than Julien and his glove is way better. Stick with who's hitting, we need any offense we can get.

    Maybe he just needs a break in AAA for awhile. If he can rest up and come back for the playoffs ready and willing then I'm fine with it. The flip side is, we need to GET to the playoffs first. Do we think the bullpen is up to the task without him? I kind of doubt it ....

    Since the all-star break, Pablo has been pitching like a true ace. If I remember right, he was kind of the same last year. We've been really lucky with him. We need to make sure we keep him healthy and happy. Adding a number two SP should be the off-seasons biggest priority. Even someone on a one or two year deal, just to give Festa, Zebby and the others enough time to finish their development. That way they can force their way into the big league team by performance, not get called up because of injuries and lack of depth. Zebby was rushed this year and it shows. Without Pablo, we wouldn't even be close to making the playoffs.

    I'm guessing they use him as a biggy back starter and bring him in after Festa, Zebby and Sim pitch their three innings, or once through the order. Irvin doesn't inspire much confidence looking at his numbers, even if we are desperate for lefties. This is what happens when you don't fortify the pitching staff at the deadline. Everyone is worn out, pitching on fumes and getting rocked with no depth or help to bring in except other teams cast offs. I really hope they take a lesson from this year and don't try to budget win their way to a winning season again next year too. We're going to need a legit SP and a few bullpen additions including at least one good reliable lefty. After that we need a first baseman and maybe a RH outfielder. Maybe go ahead and trade from our stock of minor league infielders to get pitching help if we can't afford anything in free agency, (which is total BS). With Farmer, Margot, Theilbar and Santana coming off the books, we should have the money we need to make the improvements we need. Pitching and depth will get you to the playoffs like in 23. Learn from this years mistakes, building a team for as cheap as possible is not a plan, it's a slap in the face to the very fans ownership is trying to grow....

    I think Lewis should be higher up on our prospects list than Raya. Lewis has had a much better season and looks more like a legit starter. Raya has good stuff but poor control. Plus, until he's able to consistently pitch deeper into games I think he may end up in the bullpen eventually. Either way, we've got more pitching depth than we've had for a long time and I'm excited to see who all pans out. I really hope we sign a good SP next year so Festa and Zebby can finish their development in AAA. Then we got Morris, Lewis, Raya, Culpeper, maybe Canterino if his arm hasn't fallen off by now. Prelipp a little farther down. Will be fun to follow these guys, just hope none of them are rushed to to injuries like Zebby this year
