Twins Minor League Week in Review (4/10-4/16)
Ricky Vaughn replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Have to go with Ross as the hitter. Having 11 k's in 19 at bats takes Rodriguez out of the running.- 19 replies

I agree with all of these except Lee. If we see him up in the middle of the season it will be because something went terribly wrong. I doubt very much he will be put on the 40 man roster this year.

Top Five Twins Bullpen Shuttle Candidates
Ricky Vaughn replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If there is an open spot on the 40 man Dobnak should get some opportunities. If they need to they can designate him and send down without worrying about someone claiming him due to the guarantied money owed him.- 11 replies

You may be right, IDK. When I read your proposal my first reaction was that pitchers would concentrate on a fastball and an off speed pitch they could throw for strikes but the hitter has trouble doing anything but fouling it off. Remember Scott Baker and how He would get two strikes on the hitter then go to his off speed stuff. It wasn't good enough to strike them out and they would foul off pitch after pitch after pitch. He would have been a star in your league. LOL But you may be right, the hitter just becomes more defensive and concentrates on putting the ball in play. It would be interesting to see a game played under those rules.

too different, I think there would be a lot of 1-0 games with very few base runners. Unless the pitcher was limited to only fastballs.

Reviewing the Tyler Mahle Trade
Ricky Vaughn replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What would you have given up in a trade for Mahle? Remember your not the only one bidding for his services. Sacrifices have to be made when your the buyer in a sellers market. Or would you prefer if the FO followed Terry Ryan's keep them all cause they might be the teams future, and then watch them age out of the system without ever living up to their potential, You have to give something to get something.- 57 replies

Cedar Rapids Kernels Opening Day Roster - 2023
Ricky Vaughn replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Only about a 2hr drive may have to make a couple early trips over. Kind of surprised they are going to entrust those arms to a junior college coach. Iowa central has a really good program, but still. An exciting group of players for sure.- 18 replies

No leash for Pagon. He needs to be on a choke chain. Solano will be traded when when Lewis is ready, if not sooner. All the starters are safe (may be on the disabled list though). Farmer may be traded if they want bring up a prospect or save some money. One of Taylor and Gallo is safe depending on their hitting. The other one goes.

if the Twins can't win the central Cleveland is my choice. Mostly due to Mr Francona. Great manager.

Could Bailey Ober Still Win A Rotation Spot?
Ricky Vaughn replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm a believer in Baily Ober, and think he belongs in the rotation. Considering Meda's age I think it would be in his best interest to start the year in long relief to strengthen and condition his arm after 1.5 years . Then move him into the rotation after a couple months, or at the next injury. I know he wouldn't like it but it it would be better for him in the long run.- 51 replies

I get wanting to keep him healthy, but most of his injuries haven't been caused by wear and tear. Concussions, broken hand and foot, migraines, crashing into the wall. Last year was really the first of what I would call a wear and tear injury. His knee hurt when the season began last year. Was it caused because he pushes so hard in the off season that he never gets a chance to heal?

2023 Prospect Previews: Ben Ross
Ricky Vaughn replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Looks good so far. The fact he did so well with a wooden bat is a plus. If your a team that needs to depend on home grown talent then you need to be able to pick out the good players in the lower rounds. The Twins have been able to do this in the past. Its the early picks they have struggled with, but it appears they are getting better in this regard too. -
Pivotal Year Looms Large for Rocco Baldelli
Ricky Vaughn replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
At least publicly Rocco and the front office are on the same page as to how things should be done. The front office also seems to be convinced of their genius intellects. If they fired him they would need to admit they made a mistake, I don't see that happening short of a clubhouse rebellion.- 26 replies

Who Is the Twins Biggest Rival for 2023?
Ricky Vaughn replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He's the manager I respect the most in MLB. I think he is responsible for several more wins every year. Rocco has gotten better but is still mediocre at on field managing. He must be great in the clubhouse as the players seem to support him. As far as rivals go has to be Cleveland. Chicago has lots of talent but just don't seem to play well together. perhaps the new manager will help that. I have to see it first though.- 18 replies

Who Will Relieve the Relievers?

Can the Twins Get a Consistent Joe Ryan in 2023?
Ricky Vaughn replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Have to admit when the Twins traded for him I was a little skeptical. Tampa hardly ever makes a mistake on pitching. He has been terrific though. If what he did last year is as good as it gets the trade was a steal for two months of Nelson Cruz. After watching him last year I think there is room for growth. -
The Twins Top Prospect in 2025 Will Be…
Ricky Vaughn replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Not knowing who the #5 pick will be, I will stick my neck out and say Yasser Mercedes. he should be in high A or AA by then so his star will be shining. (I hope)- 34 replies

"The Gang Goes To Driveline"
Ricky Vaughn replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice article. I knew Mahle had been to Driveline but not Ryan. Hopefully the extra work pays off for them.
