  1. Its been a few years now since the minor leagues were downsized. So a smaller pool of players to draw from. Not saying that is the only reason but it may play a role.
  2. He's going through a slump. He will be fine.
  3. I remember Soderholm, but I was in the Navy during most of his time with the Twins. I agree with Karbo about Castino. One of my most vivid memories of him was a game I was at in 1980 or 81 I think. The Twins had Rick Dempsy in a rundown and he bowled Castino over but John held onto the ball. As Dempsy walked away he said something and Castino immediately jumped to his feet and decked him with one punch. Of course the benches emptied and chaos ensued.
  4. Varland looks like he's trying to squeeze the baseball down to to a golf ball. Either put him in the pen for a while, or send him down so he can relax and get his act back together
  5. I don't think playing good defense will get a corner outfielder to me. Looks like Gallo without the walks.
  6. With the bases loaded and two outs in the 2nd inning, Alerick Soluarie lifted a sacrifice fly to score Ben Ross and make it a 2-0 game. Was there a rule change I missed?
  7. Changed the channel to the basketball game the minute Rocco pulled Ober. Knew what was about to happen.
  8. IDK he's left handed so he will get plenty of chances. He also is pushing 27 so if he's going to grab a starting role it better happen this year.
  9. I just don't think one start tells us much of anything. Good or bad, look at the past and the Twins have had players stink up the place in their first start and ones who looked like Walter Johnson in their first start, and neither was indicative of their talent level.
  10. I'm sure they will have to wait until this weekend to put him on the IL.
  11. Why so negative? I get your feelings for DeSclafani, but I see no reason why Paddock can't go 100 innings. I think Ober will be the #2 pitcher by seasons end.
  12. Bailey has been good for the most part since making his debut. He added volume last year, and believes in himself. I think an extension would take a lot more money than your talking.
  13. Kirilloff is the only one of the four that I have any confidence will have a future with the Twins. I think Gorden gets claimed off the wavier wire, and Larnach and Miranda get included in trades. I just don't see any place for those three to get playing time.
  14. relievers can be fickle, but this group certainly appears to have potential.
  15. I don't think Boras would go for it. He bets on his players, and will want to see a couple big years. Then he will go for the big bucks. Don't think the Twins should do it until he shows some durability.
  16. Another utility player is the last thing this team needs.
  17. He has a hard time staying healthy. I read somewhere that he's had Tommy John surgery twice among various other injuries. If he stays healthy there's hope. There must be something of value there as Milwaukee kept him through 3 years of being injured before giving up on him.
  18. Their not going to commit to a long term contract for anyone now. If they do that, there wont be anything left for any of the young guys in a couple years.
  19. Royce is my #3 hitter no matter who is pitching. Correa is ok at 1st vs lefthanders assuming his hitting problems last year were caused by his foot problem. Julien is good vs right handers. I like polo at #2 but I'm not sure he will be here.
  20. If I remember correctly back problems were a problem for him after 1965.
  21. Pretty much agree with these !st 5. I would have to put Walker at #4 and move the 2-4 up a notch just because 26 games and 115 PA's. Let him perform that way through 400+ PA at high A and I'll be all for putting him #1.
  22. I'm with the ones who think Duran is to low. I was never really on the Wallner train but after watching him play and really looking at what he did in the minors I think he has a lot room to grow and become a force for the team. (At least until his bat slows down a little, then the K's become unsustainable)
  23. They should stay in touch with him. If Miranda or one of the other young Twins is included in a trade for pitching he could fill a role for the team at an affordable price.
  24. Rumor has it the Twins shut off their phone and internet to save money, and making trades by mail is to slow. Therefor I don't see them making any trades.
