  1. All very good points. I suspect lots of teams have settled their plans. Boras may have misread the market conditions. Bad for his clients, but ultimately good for baseball if his influence is curtailed.
  2. Oh man, you gave me goosebumps 🤣
  3. This trade leaves an opening on the. It's not the Twins way to bring up a young player to fill a bench spot unless injuries have left no other choice. So this seems to foreshadow another trade/FA signing. Thoughts?
  4. Lee is not ROY material. It has taken him a bit to settle in at each level. I don't see him lighting up MLB from the start.
  5. I am going to propose Joe Mauer as a Royce Lewis comp. They both understand baseball at a DNA level. Both were drafted out of high school. They both had very limited time in the minors. They both stepped onto the MLB field and looked like they had been there for years. Now, I don't think Royce has the batting titles and MVP awards ahead of him. But just talking about guys that inherently know baseball, I think they are very similar.
  6. The Twins should be embarrassed to get caught in the lie that tv revenue uncertainty must result in lowered payroll!
  7. Agreed. With the insane cost of starters, a dominate bullpen may be a much more cost-efficient way to get some wins.
  8. Trading for MAT last year was an indicator Buxton was not going to be ready for the start of the season. I have a feeling signing Santana says that about Kiriloff.
  9. I wonder if this signals a small shift in the Twins hitting philosophy? He can be productive without the "swing for the fences, strikeouts be damned" approach.
  10. The Twins will be streaming on MLB.tv for sure. The blackouts are a Diamond thing to be negotiated with the new 1-year contract. If the games are blacked-out this year, it is no one's fault but the Twins!
  11. Interesting that the bullpen has gone from such a low priority to the FO last season to an area they have given as much attention as any this year. Have they come around to thinking a solid bullpen is a lower cost way to find some wins?
  12. I like this trade because it is intriguing. It doesn't make a lot of sense by itself... So waiting for the other shoe!!
  13. The owners only have power if they are willing to say NO. Scott Boras is very good at whipping up FOMO to the tune of 9 figures.
  14. At TwinsFest I thought he looked solid. Like he has finally filled out his frame. He always seemed so wirey and and kind of fragile... Which is a weird way to describe a dude his size!
  15. Wow, the Twins are in a tough spot. The only team with no broadcast or streaming agreement. Those 5 teams that are in the Amazon proposal still have Diamond/Bally's producing the broadcast... Easy feed to Amazon for streaming. It doesn't seem that MLB is willing to work a Diamondbacks/Padres type of deal, or it would be done by now. Going back for a 1 year deal with Bally's is going to be tough since the Twins announced no blackouts to their fans. Opening day just a couple months away. Probably should have had a plan before they broke up with Bally's.
  16. Very interesting point! MLB may have slept through a huge opportunity to take the wheel!
  17. This! The Twins organization should be able to weather one season of uncertainty without a significant step backward in payroll. Once the media future is set, they can make the needed adjustments. Feels like they were living paycheck-to-paycheck and panicked when the plant was idled for two weeks. If they do not have the resources to get through a year of uncertainty, perhaps they should get out the the the sports ownership business!
  18. Ummmm.... I think that is how satire works 😉
  19. I believe they are. The only moves they will make will be to back-fill the pitching they've lost, and to shed payroll 🫤
  20. Imagine a world where these 3 guys are firing on all cylinders and the kids are improving week by week!
  21. It's seems like the Pohlads can't decide whether they own the Twins because they are lovers of the game, or it is just another of their diversified investments. Sometimes they act like a corporation reporting to it's shareholders... Anticipated dip in revenue, expect lower a lower payroll, divest high value assets. Sometimes they seems to spend just for love of the game.... State-of-the-art scoreboards, new uniforms and a top-shelf shortstop. Just odd.
  22. Detroit will be the Twins competition in the ALC. They made a strong finish last year, are adding pieces and don’t have Cabrera’s anchor anymore.
