Great win taking advantage of Lynn throwing meatballs over the plate. Julien being young needs to use the Cave rule, has to run out of the box. That was a double not a single if he didn't stand there watching the ball. He did have a nice slide at home for a insurance run. Ryan needs to use some off speed to start the game, even you and I know he's throwing a fastball to start the game. Tonight Gray has to show up and pitch much better.

Every team needs a spark plug and Castro seems to be that. With Julien helping the lineup with offense and Castro stealing bases it will help to win the division. Let's worry about next year next year. Every year players come and go and if Castro out plays Gordon and others so be it. The goal is go to the playoffs every year this year included. No one had the Phillies in the WS last year. We have the pitching this year and may not next year. You want to move someone when Gordon or Lewis return how about Gallo. He has become a automatic out in the lineup. Everyone has said that about Buxton,so he took a seat.

Mariners 7, Twins 6: Sonny Gray Boils Down
David Maro replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The question to ask is if Ober or Varland started throwing pitches feet out of the strike zone would Rocco go get them. Jeffers looked more like a hockey goalie than a catcher. At this time Gray looks OK for 50-60 pitches. If the SP keep looking this bad the team is lost. Hopefully Ober does his thing tonight and they win.- 65 replies

Mariners 7, Twins 6: Sonny Gray Boils Down
David Maro replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Can't watch a manager just give a game away anymore. Gray lost control of his off speed pitches in the 5th inning and Rocco does nothing. We had Gilbert on the run in the 1st,but with Buxton batting 3rd is automatic out. Julien can't be on the field, hit him at DH and Buxton to IL for 15 days.- 65 replies

Finally scored some insurance runs playing baseball. Using a double steal and a bunt with Castro on the bases. May want to do some of that with Buxton, but can't because he may get hurt. Pitching really needs to improve today, giving the A's 11 runs in two games not good. Nice to see Duran use the fastball over the offspeed stuff. Just like Jax early in the season falling in love with the slider got him in trouble. If in the lineup today Buxton and Kepler need to 7-8 or even 8-9, may wakeup their bats.

Glad they are on the West Coast so I can't watch them. The games are past my bedtime. The other good thing is that Cleveland is playing Texas and I see they may have lost Bieber for awhile. Time to is what is going on with the Vikings.

This Rotation Can Be Really Good in October
David Maro replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The pitching is the best it has been in years, but they don't hit and neither does the position players. Yes they will play 1 game in October, the last game of the season. Everyone talked about the 2nd half of the season,we're 10 games past that. What makes people think that things will change,no changes were made at the break. Rocco will still rotate players at every position but SS and change the batting order daily. The next 7 games will tell a story.- 21 replies

The bigger problem is he seems to have the FO ear on things like Buxton to DH and bringing certain players in. It has been said he wanted J Lopez and we see how that worked out. He does lead the team in hitting into DP. Most fans think a player being paid 30+ million a year should lead on the field.

Is Popkins Next Firing in MLB Coaches Mid-Season
David Maro replied to Dave Borton's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
The FO will make no changes here because they like Homerun Derby. The team is now out of first and will more than likely fall in the division. You have to feel for the SP who are doing their jobs. The FO brought Gallo in for one reason only to hit homeruns. Why would anyone want a hitter who strikes out 48% of the time. Popkins or anyone else is going to improve that what 5%. Buxton has one thing in mind at bat swing for the fences or strike out. Polhad's will have to be the one's to step up at the end of the season and clean house. When a business is failing changes need to happen. That maybe the roster has a complete turn over as well. -
Glad Vikings camp is coming up. Hopefully they will show something because the Twins are showing us zero. Pretty bad when a player that will be back in St. Paul in 10-14 days did his part. When a business is failing changes need and always are made. This FO is becoming a laughing stock. Where the you know what are Polhad's.

Ober gets another no decision because the manager can't manage. Again with a heavy RH bat lineup against a pitcher with a 6+ ERA. And of course swing for the fences in every at bat. Been a fan since 61,losing interest in style of baseball. Think I'll start paying attention to the Vikings with camp starting soon. Please Polhad's look at what you have and make changes before its too late.

What's so Bad About Max Kepler?
David Maro replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not a fan of Kepler, but this whole team is in love with the homerun. When you look at Buxton and Correa they swing out of shoes. They have done a little better with the strike out since last week. But Sundays ninth inning trying to hit solo homeruns and striking out 3 times. People seem to forget we don't have a LF since letting Eddie walk. Now we want to have plug and play RF as well. If you look around the league teams have 6 or 7 players who play almost every game. This team will not go anywhere with this FO and manager rotating the lineup game after game. Doing this has been a losing proposition. Players need to know I'm playing my position today. Having 5 of 6 players who play every position hasn't worked.- 87 replies

How is it that this team can't hit LP pitcher with a ERA north of 7. Another good game pitched by Gray wasted. Loaded the lineup with right handed bat for what. This loss should be on the manager. Leaving Duran in after Mullins smash down the line. How often has Duran thrown 34 pitches in one inning 0. I don't think we will see anything different Monday night with a LP going for KC and they are playing well the last few games.

Let's not get too excited about this win. All the runs came early and all but 1 run off a right hand pitcher. Still had 11 strike outs and 5 innings of no offense. Lopez was shaky early, but was able to pitch thru it. If Correa can start games leading off with good at bats maybe that will help. Julien seems to be taking way too many pitches in middle of the zone time to sit him. One good at bat for Joey Strike Out doesn't mean he is coming around. We did get good news about Cleveland,Detroit and Chicago all losing.

Bases loaded how many times with no results. Correa,Buxton and who ever at bat with strike outs. Arraez would put the ball in play. The game is called baseball, this team thinks it is called homerun. Maybe its time for the SP to corner Correa and company. People keep talking about the playoffs, sorry not happening this year. Time to start over with new FO and manager.

Wanting to bring players from St. Paul isn't going to change anything. If you don't change manager and coaches you will only mold them to the team's way of doing things. It is all about swing for the fences and who cares about the strike outs. They had 14 strike outs again in a game that Maeda had pitched well and could of won. Swinging at pitches over their heads and out of the zone is minor league. People talk about small ball, getting singles and doubles isn't small ball its baseball. It's time for Polhad to step in and tell FO no more deals without changes. Team is now in second and heading to third next week.
-
Traveling today and glad I was. What a laughing stock this team has become. Why bring anyone up from St Paul when Popkins will mess them up too. Last night was a real eye opener on how poorly managed and coached theyare, whose bright idea was it to throw waste high fastballs to start the game. It has been shown to all time and again swing as hard as you can and hope to make contact. The Tigers will be in second place and Twins in third place the middle of next week. If not careful fourth place behind the White Sox.

Pagan can't throw 2 cutters in row in the middle of the zone. Don't think many hitters miss that pitch twice. Why are they still swinging for the fences with 1 on in the 9th,need 3 not 2. Pinch hitting Buxton if he's not right is dumb. He will only disappoint. This was just another game of 12 strike outs and hard to watch baseball.
-
When Ober gets the ball he has shown to be the steadfast pitcher on the staff. Castro has brought a fun style running the bases putting pressure on the pitcher and catcher. When was the last time a Twins player stole 40+ bases. And why is Lewis on the bench tonight. We are playing the best team in baseball and need players that make things happen. Maybe play him at SS tonight, giving Double play Correa a rest.

Gallo is and was a bad signing, but fits the team perfectly. Rocco loves players who swing for the downs. The whole team doesn't care how many times they strike out. The game yesterday was a prime example of that. They hit 2 solo shots, along with 13 strike outs. And we all know what the final score was. Since letting Eddie walk LF is a plug and play position. The trade for Lopez has proven to be not good, because they gave him the extension before he showed who he is. He seems to blow up in 1 inning and puts the team behind early. Now the team has an over priced player just like Gallo,Correa and Buxton. Just like years ago signing Mauer to 10 and the last 4 years having a part time player who hit singles. Now that I think about it that may be why they didn't sign Arraez.
-
Maeta saying no I'm not done yet got everyone fired up. They needed someone to do that. Rocco is not capable of doing that. The team is 2-0 in the last two games that he was ejected. We have to have Lopez step up tonight and show a little of Maeta emotion. You have to win the games that you should.

Need to show up in Detroit this weekend and sweep the Tigers. It doesn't get easier after that with Atlanta and Baltimore. It's time you know what or get off pot. Can't look like good 1 game and out of sorts the next. Putting the ball in play and not relying on the long ball is how to play the game. Nice to see Ryan go the distance.

Here is a statement that should tell everyone about Popkins. Trevor Plouffe made the observation that Kepler had a hitch in his swing. You would think a hitting coach would see that and address it. Not to say that would make any difference, but if he can't see that what else is he not see. We won't have to watch much more of this, because they will be in 3rd place heading to 4th place next week.

The SP has come down to earth and putting pressure on the BP. The manager spends most of his time looking down at his paper work hoping to find something. Watching the other manager, they are watching the play on the field 100% of the time. May need a Bud-Light boycott to get the point across. This team is unwatchable at this time. Buxton needs to back on IL and then go to St. Paul for rehab assignment. Bring Miranda up as DH to see if his bat has come around or not. Looks like he has resolved some of the issues he had earlier. If he fails that may show everyone that Popkin's is a problem.
-
Poppins can talk all he wants about too much information, the strike zone is the strike zone. They swing at pitches 6 to 12 inches out of the zone and take pitches in the middle of the zone. Buxton took pitches all weekend and in PH at bat Sunday. Since letting Eddie go they seem to think LF is a plug and play position. There has been how many different players out there,I would guess over 20. MLB claims they have the easiest schedule left, good luck with that. By the time they finish with Boston,Atlanta and Baltimore they will be in third place heading to 4th.
