  1. Sorry folks but not looking so good. Getting 10 free passes and bases loaded numerous times scoring 8. This team should of scored a dozen or more. Jeffers looked over matched every at bat. Angels pitcher couldn't find the zone and Jeffers strikes out on 3 pitches, none in the zone. This will not work in a playoff game. This game should have been over in 4 inning, but Lopez helped keep the Angels in it as well. If Duran can't settle his nerves maybe he is not the guy.
  2. Team will not and can't trust Ryan in October. He seems to be unstable on the mound. Looks like he is aiming his pitches and looking down at the rubber after throwing the pitch. When the score was 2-0 and he walked #8 hitter, needed to be pulled. The #9 hitter was robbed of a homerun earlier by MAT. Second time hit the ball 30 ft. further making it 4-0. He is looking more like Bert, giving up homeruns every outing. This team should be resting players, but no can't because the still haven't won the division.
  3. When Lopez pitches a great game his next start not so good. Remember what happened the good game after Ryan's game against Boston. Lopez did his best to match it. Then his next outing he had control problems. Also having a extra day off for some pitcher is not a good idea. Hitters looked silly trying to hit slow junk balls. Texas doesn't seem to interested in getting 1st in the West. It looks like the last week to clinch the division for the Twins.
  4. Castro is the modern day Buxton. This is the way the team needed Buxton to play. Instead of trying to hit homeruns every at bat should of been getting on base any way possible. Could of started an inning with a bunt,a base hit. Then use his speed on the bases. Yes Castro hit the winner today, but his base running has won games as well. Team should be worried about Ryan not being able to get out of innings. His pitches are being fouled back by every hitter. Can't have your SP at 60+ pitches at 3 innings. Really nice to see Duran go after the Ray's hitters and put them away in 10 pitches.
  5. Worst thing to happen to Wallner was hitting the walk off Grand Slam. He now thinks every at bat has to be homerun. Needs to work on hitting line drives and getting the ball in play. But then again that is not what this team does or wants. His defense is not good and thinks his arm will make up for it. Play him off the bench for now and leave him off the playoff roster to start. If someone in the outfield goes down in round one or isn't hitting move him in in round 2. That of course if they get to round 2.
  6. Time to sit Wallner down, apparently he has been taking Strike Out lessons from Joey Strike Out. He also has trouble in the field, hasn't been good in Right or Left. With Polanco out for a few days someone needs to step up. Again can't seem to put the ball in play. Correa takes a pitch down the middle, then swings at one down and away before taking again outside edge. Playoffs are coming and can't waste good SP like this.
  7. Nice win even with Maeda giving up 2 in the first. Varland is still the same he was as a SP. Pitches like he is late to dinner. Why does he feel the need to rush his pitches. Pitch clock is at 8-10 seconds when he throws the ball. Maybe he would hit his spot better by slowing down 3-4 seconds. When the playoffs start, can't have RP coming in giving up the long ball. Nice to see Kepler getting a big hit off the bench.
  8. Pitching today is different from years past. A SP has to throw 4-6 different pitch now. Back in the day a guy like Bert threw 2,fastball and curve. Throwing the slider and the sweeper will add to more SP and RP to need TJ. Also throwing up to 100 mph takes a lot out of a pitcher. Look at Verlander,he only throws that hard a couple times an outing. Ober and Ryan still need to learn how to pitch. Teams are starting to figure out that they will pitch high in zone. If they miss their spot it ends up in the seats.
  9. Don't forget Willi!! He is the straw that stirs the drink. His double down the 3rd baseline made the 5 run possible. Also made the big catch in left. I know it looked like he misread the ball, but he still made the catch. As for Straw,he give a gift by not pulling up on Solano's hit.
  10. Nice to see them add on inning after inning. To many times they scored early then nothing and needing to score late to win. I think Kepler was the only one who didn't score or have a hit. No time to rest tonight, need to get to Bibee early. Get his pitch count up early like they did with Giolito. Thankfully the FO didn't get the opportunity to bring him in. Time to go on a winning streak and win the division.
  11. Rocco should of known that Kuechel would only go a few innings. Let's face it he is a LF hand Bundy. When you miss with 87 it ends up in the seats. Gallo is a injury replacement only and may be a second or third choice. Duran needs to learn to pitch,he is a thrower. He believes he can throw past the hitters. That only works if you hit your spots. Every team has pitchers throwing 100 now,so you need to pitch. These next 4 games will probably be division. Cleveland is not going away.
  12. The lineup was over matched with Scherzer on the mound. The only way they win was Scherzer leaving after 6 with forearm tightness. Isn't it amazing if they pitch you up and away you go opposite field. Only took 130+ games to figure that out. With any luck they will use the same approach tonight. They really need Tampa to show up tonight and tomorrow.
  13. Next 6 games they can't play dumb sloppy baseball like the last 2 games. Why Correa thought it was a good idea to let a pop up hit the ground was dumb. Why would you want to put the leading base stealer on. Duran throwing a pitch behind the batter to the backstop was dumb. I don't think anyone in the ballpark knew what happened or how to rule on it. MAT poor play turning a single into a double should of never happened. Rocco pulling Pagan for Funderburk was a dumb move. Its time for him to take some of the blame for the team's up and down play. This division is still not a sure thing. They could go 0-6 easily against Texas and Cleveland. Remember there is some bad blood with Texas. Hitters being hit by pitches, both benches getting warnings.
  14. A pat on the back has always worked better than a in your face. Donaldson is and was a in your face.
  15. The worst thing that happened was Lewis coming up in the first with bases loaded. The expectation was to much for him. I said Correa should of sat until Friday and it showed. Two strike outs and a GIDP was not good. Joey Strike Out should only be a late inning replacement. He is a automatic out,so should only get 1 at bat. Hopefully Gray saw Lopez's problem and will not make the same mistake. Cleveland doesn't chase pitches out of the zone. Make them swing the bat by throwing strikes. And again sit Correa today,so he will be able to play in Texas.
  16. Maeda probably has not recovered from his start against the Brewers. Hopefully his next outing will be better. When Polanco hit the 3 run homerun,it ended Cleveland's day. Winder only needed 24 pitches for 9 outs. Lopez needs to do a better job tonight than his last outing. Friday will be a interesting day to see who comes and who goes. Correa needs to sit until Friday to get him off his foot.
  17. Maybe Gallo and Solano missed that day in Little League on how to run bases. How on earth do you get picked off on a foul ball. Solano stays at 2nd,game is over with Kepler single. Hopefully the coaches go over base running today. Next 9 games will be important to not make mistakes on the bases.
  18. What is worse, watching the umpires call strikes or Joey Strike Out bat? He saw 10 pitches and stroke out 3 times. And why were they swinging at the first pitch after the first inning. Scherzer was in trouble after throwing 28 pitches in the first inning. They let him back in the game by making 1 and 2 pitch outs. Lewis alone made 3 outs on 4 pitches. When a pitcher is working hard don't help him. Correa stroke out twice on pitches in LH batters box. He looked more like Sano in those at bats. Rocco gave the game away in the 9th leaving Jax in too long. Can't leave your pitcher in to implode that way. Ryan doesn't have his legs under him, fastball was 93,94 to start, down to 90,91 in 4th and 5th. Hopefully he will work on that before his next start. Ober has to go 6 or 7 today to help a weak BP today.
  19. FO has made more mistakes than people want to admit. You have the Buxton extension and resigning Correa. They knew what they had with Buxton for years now. When Correa opted out, should of said goodbye. Yes plays good defense, but where is the bat. Do you pay 33 million a year for defense only. He may be unhappy because he had to sign a lesser deal than the Giants or Mets. Why sign Gallo at all, team needed a RH bat,not another LH bat. That 11 million could have been used for a bat and a BP arm. The trade deadline they probably were told no by Polhad on adding money to the payroll.
  20. Time to have a talk with Polanco about his health. Looks like he is having leg issues again. Falling out of the box on every swing. Had 25% of the 16 strike outs Sunday. I see Gallo DFAed September 1st when Buxton and AK are back. With the strike zone in this game,a pitcher needed to use what the umpire was calling. Now comes a very tough road with the next 15 games.
  21. Polanco couldn't make the throws at Shortstop. They move him to 2nd for easier throw. Now let's put him at 3rd for a longer throw. Gray fell apart after the play Polanco couldn't make. This was a Gray problem again,he loses focus. They have to put the ball in play with bases loaded and 0 outs. They had 3 of the worst at bats all year and that's saying something. The game was over at that point, gave the Pirates momentum. Don't forget lead is not safe with 6 games against Cleveland in the next 2 weeks.
  22. This team better wake up now. Can't be getting caught sleeping on 1st or not advancing to 2nd on a deep fly ball. Kepler missed advancing earlier this year, and was told about it. Toughest part of the schedule coming up with 13 games against Texas and Cleveland. If you think Cleveland doesn't know this you are not following the game. Way too much talk about the playoffs when this team could easily be out of 1st by September 1st. And still have 2 games in Milwaukee next week. Everyone in baseball knows Jax will hang a slider over the plate,so they sit on it. Time to go back to St Paul with Moran. Right now they have 2 starting pitchers,Lopez and Gray. If Kuechel was the answer why is Lopez going Friday night.
  23. A couple of weeks ago I said Kuechel was a LH Bundy and would only be good for a inning or two. I was half right,he did last for one inning. You are not going to win any games scoring 2 runs in 3 games. People seem to get so excited with Polanco and Kepler hitting solo homeruns. The Phillies put the game out of reach with singles, doubles and walks. Rocco gave the game away in the 2nd inning leaving Kuechel in too long. Can't let the other team use your pitcher for batting practice. The BP still has no long relief pitcher,Winder and Sands are not it. So far this team has luck on its side with Cleveland playing Tampa this weekend. We have Texas and Tampa ahead and Cleveland is not going away.
  24. Here's a tip for who ever is at bat with men on the corners with no outs or 1 out PUT the ball in play. The game is called baseball, not homerun or strike out. Probably will be going to the playoffs by default playing a wildcard team with a better record than them. Which means losing out in the first round. If I were Maeda I would tell the FO no thank you I will be moving on at the end of the season.
  25. Offense was flat until Castro got the double. He is the straw that stirs the drink right now. Once he is on base he puts the pitcher on defense. Good defense played kept game in reach. Correa did make up for his 2 DP by finally getting a hit and 2 RBI's to take the lead. With Cleveland reeling need to take care of business in Detroit.
