Everyone keeps talking about Polanco and Kepler being gone next year. Why do they keep talking about Buxton back in center next year. His body will not allow him to do so. It was a bad extension to sign him to.It is time to move on,see if you can trade him picking up part of the money owed. The AK situation is starting to look like another Buxton. With him out for the start of the season,Miranda over Gallo at 1st.And bring Polanco back for 2nd with Julien at DH and 1st.
-
Pressly was traded because he had control issues. More often then not he looked like F Rodney. People seem to forget how many times he couldn't find the zone. He didn't become the closer he is for 2 or 3 seasons in Houston. This seems to becoming a Ortiz situation. Now the Jeffers or Vasquez thing. Jeffers was a deer in the headlights. Vasquez had been there done that guy and metrics and statistics shouldn't be the end all be all.

The team's philosophy has to change or the future will be the same. And MLB has become a game of homerun. Watching the season and the playoffs showed teams with hats, jackets and vests. What happened to a pat on the back. The fan is as much to blame for the state of the game as well. They stare at their phones in the stands until a homerun is hit. Everyone has to realize if you get 500 AB's a season you can't and won't hit 100-125 homeruns.

Astros 3, Twins 2: The Season is Over
David Maro replied to Thiéres Rabelo's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Rocco's way of managing,Buxton wasn't PH hitting for a base hit. This team will go nowhere with him as manager. There was zero chance of winning with 3 hits and 14 strike outs. Yes umpire zone was not good, but I saw plenty of swings on pitches well out of the zone. I am old school and baseball can't be played by looking to hit homeruns only. The other thing that needs an answer is where was Vasquez. Jeffers looked over matched in every at bat. Why do you give someone 10 million a year and not play him. More changes than people think have to be made this off season.- 126 replies

Sorry but it is time for them to set up their tee times. And maybe change the name of the team to the MN. Whiffers. I saw the same old Twins in the 1st inning. They had a chance to score and couldn't put the ball in play. Please let the Hitting Coach go this off season. And have Ryan and Ober stop with 90 mph meatballs at the top of the zone. It's time they learn to pitch, not just throw.

Wallner and Kirilloff look like they are in a hurry to get back to the dugout. They swing at every pitch thrown. Time to give them a seat. Can't have these bad at bats in the playoffs. Correa starts inning with a double and can only make third base on a wild pitch. I don't know what game Rocco is watching, how about a bunt a hit and run. This is baseball and you need to score runs to win. Scoring only 9 runs in 3 playoff games won't get it done.

Twins Name Bailey Ober Game 1 Starter for ALDS
David Maro replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ober or Ryan or whomever in game 1 will not matter if they don't hit. Lewis and pitching won game 1 in WC. Correa and pitching won game 2 in WC. The Astros have Altuve,Bregman and Brantley now. The Astros ball park is a band box that they play to their advantage. This will have to be a team effort to win 3 games. -
Video: The Twins Rotation for the ALDS
David Maro replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Can be Ryan or Ober or whom ever. If they hit like they did against the Blue Jay's they will lose. Lewis and pitching won game 1 and pitching and Correa won game 2. It will have to be a team afford to win 3 games against the Astros. The Astros ball park is a band box and they know how to use it to their advantage.- 2 replies

This off season Ryan needs to work on pitching all over the zone. Everyone in baseball knows he pitches up in the zone. The long ball is and has been a problem that has gotten out of control. I would guess that when Ryan is a free agent he will not sign with the Rockies. The sore ankle that Polanco has could be a problem for the 1st round. It is only a 3 game series and Polanco has been a clutch hitter in these situations.

Team is in the playoffs and has no room for any players to be shaking off rust. That is a no to Buxton and Gallo. They will only be a distraction to the team getting through the 1st round. Let's be honest Buxton hasn't played much all year. And Gallo is and has been a automatic out in almost every at bat. In the playoffs every at bat is important. With Correa and Lewis more than likely coming back, that puts Leplow and Larnach out.

Love to been a fly on the wall in Rocco's office after that embarrassing showing. With that lineup against a AAA pitcher and get shutout. If Gray didn't give Rocco an ear full I would be surprised. I thought winning was important in any competition, just not in Rocco's world. With the West the way it is,might have a chance for 2nd seed. Not going to happen with this manager. Team is already down Correa and Lewis,so let's sit more players.

Sorry folks but not looking so good. Getting 10 free passes and bases loaded numerous times scoring 8. This team should of scored a dozen or more. Jeffers looked over matched every at bat. Angels pitcher couldn't find the zone and Jeffers strikes out on 3 pitches, none in the zone. This will not work in a playoff game. This game should have been over in 4 inning, but Lopez helped keep the Angels in it as well. If Duran can't settle his nerves maybe he is not the guy.

Team will not and can't trust Ryan in October. He seems to be unstable on the mound. Looks like he is aiming his pitches and looking down at the rubber after throwing the pitch. When the score was 2-0 and he walked #8 hitter, needed to be pulled. The #9 hitter was robbed of a homerun earlier by MAT. Second time hit the ball 30 ft. further making it 4-0. He is looking more like Bert, giving up homeruns every outing. This team should be resting players, but no can't because the still haven't won the division.

When Lopez pitches a great game his next start not so good. Remember what happened the good game after Ryan's game against Boston. Lopez did his best to match it. Then his next outing he had control problems. Also having a extra day off for some pitcher is not a good idea. Hitters looked silly trying to hit slow junk balls. Texas doesn't seem to interested in getting 1st in the West. It looks like the last week to clinch the division for the Twins.

Castro is the modern day Buxton. This is the way the team needed Buxton to play. Instead of trying to hit homeruns every at bat should of been getting on base any way possible. Could of started an inning with a bunt,a base hit. Then use his speed on the bases. Yes Castro hit the winner today, but his base running has won games as well. Team should be worried about Ryan not being able to get out of innings. His pitches are being fouled back by every hitter. Can't have your SP at 60+ pitches at 3 innings. Really nice to see Duran go after the Ray's hitters and put them away in 10 pitches.

Worst thing to happen to Wallner was hitting the walk off Grand Slam. He now thinks every at bat has to be homerun. Needs to work on hitting line drives and getting the ball in play. But then again that is not what this team does or wants. His defense is not good and thinks his arm will make up for it. Play him off the bench for now and leave him off the playoff roster to start. If someone in the outfield goes down in round one or isn't hitting move him in in round 2. That of course if they get to round 2.

Time to sit Wallner down, apparently he has been taking Strike Out lessons from Joey Strike Out. He also has trouble in the field, hasn't been good in Right or Left. With Polanco out for a few days someone needs to step up. Again can't seem to put the ball in play. Correa takes a pitch down the middle, then swings at one down and away before taking again outside edge. Playoffs are coming and can't waste good SP like this.

Nice win even with Maeda giving up 2 in the first. Varland is still the same he was as a SP. Pitches like he is late to dinner. Why does he feel the need to rush his pitches. Pitch clock is at 8-10 seconds when he throws the ball. Maybe he would hit his spot better by slowing down 3-4 seconds. When the playoffs start, can't have RP coming in giving up the long ball. Nice to see Kepler getting a big hit off the bench.

Did the Twins Mishandle Bailey Ober in 2023?
David Maro replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Pitching today is different from years past. A SP has to throw 4-6 different pitch now. Back in the day a guy like Bert threw 2,fastball and curve. Throwing the slider and the sweeper will add to more SP and RP to need TJ. Also throwing up to 100 mph takes a lot out of a pitcher. Look at Verlander,he only throws that hard a couple times an outing. Ober and Ryan still need to learn how to pitch. Teams are starting to figure out that they will pitch high in zone. If they miss their spot it ends up in the seats. -
Don't forget Willi!! He is the straw that stirs the drink. His double down the 3rd baseline made the 5 run possible. Also made the big catch in left. I know it looked like he misread the ball, but he still made the catch. As for Straw,he give a gift by not pulling up on Solano's hit.

Nice to see them add on inning after inning. To many times they scored early then nothing and needing to score late to win. I think Kepler was the only one who didn't score or have a hit. No time to rest tonight, need to get to Bibee early. Get his pitch count up early like they did with Giolito. Thankfully the FO didn't get the opportunity to bring him in. Time to go on a winning streak and win the division.

Rocco should of known that Kuechel would only go a few innings. Let's face it he is a LF hand Bundy. When you miss with 87 it ends up in the seats. Gallo is a injury replacement only and may be a second or third choice. Duran needs to learn to pitch,he is a thrower. He believes he can throw past the hitters. That only works if you hit your spots. Every team has pitchers throwing 100 now,so you need to pitch. These next 4 games will probably be division. Cleveland is not going away.

The lineup was over matched with Scherzer on the mound. The only way they win was Scherzer leaving after 6 with forearm tightness. Isn't it amazing if they pitch you up and away you go opposite field. Only took 130+ games to figure that out. With any luck they will use the same approach tonight. They really need Tampa to show up tonight and tomorrow.

Next 6 games they can't play dumb sloppy baseball like the last 2 games. Why Correa thought it was a good idea to let a pop up hit the ground was dumb. Why would you want to put the leading base stealer on. Duran throwing a pitch behind the batter to the backstop was dumb. I don't think anyone in the ballpark knew what happened or how to rule on it. MAT poor play turning a single into a double should of never happened. Rocco pulling Pagan for Funderburk was a dumb move. Its time for him to take some of the blame for the team's up and down play. This division is still not a sure thing. They could go 0-6 easily against Texas and Cleveland. Remember there is some bad blood with Texas. Hitters being hit by pitches, both benches getting warnings.
