  1. The worst thing that happened was Lewis coming up in the first with bases loaded. The expectation was to much for him. I said Correa should of sat until Friday and it showed. Two strike outs and a GIDP was not good. Joey Strike Out should only be a late inning replacement. He is a automatic out,so should only get 1 at bat. Hopefully Gray saw Lopez's problem and will not make the same mistake. Cleveland doesn't chase pitches out of the zone. Make them swing the bat by throwing strikes. And again sit Correa today,so he will be able to play in Texas.
  2. Maeda probably has not recovered from his start against the Brewers. Hopefully his next outing will be better. When Polanco hit the 3 run homerun,it ended Cleveland's day. Winder only needed 24 pitches for 9 outs. Lopez needs to do a better job tonight than his last outing. Friday will be a interesting day to see who comes and who goes. Correa needs to sit until Friday to get him off his foot.
  3. Maybe Gallo and Solano missed that day in Little League on how to run bases. How on earth do you get picked off on a foul ball. Solano stays at 2nd,game is over with Kepler single. Hopefully the coaches go over base running today. Next 9 games will be important to not make mistakes on the bases.
  4. What is worse, watching the umpires call strikes or Joey Strike Out bat? He saw 10 pitches and stroke out 3 times. And why were they swinging at the first pitch after the first inning. Scherzer was in trouble after throwing 28 pitches in the first inning. They let him back in the game by making 1 and 2 pitch outs. Lewis alone made 3 outs on 4 pitches. When a pitcher is working hard don't help him. Correa stroke out twice on pitches in LH batters box. He looked more like Sano in those at bats. Rocco gave the game away in the 9th leaving Jax in too long. Can't leave your pitcher in to implode that way. Ryan doesn't have his legs under him, fastball was 93,94 to start, down to 90,91 in 4th and 5th. Hopefully he will work on that before his next start. Ober has to go 6 or 7 today to help a weak BP today.
  5. FO has made more mistakes than people want to admit. You have the Buxton extension and resigning Correa. They knew what they had with Buxton for years now. When Correa opted out, should of said goodbye. Yes plays good defense, but where is the bat. Do you pay 33 million a year for defense only. He may be unhappy because he had to sign a lesser deal than the Giants or Mets. Why sign Gallo at all, team needed a RH bat,not another LH bat. That 11 million could have been used for a bat and a BP arm. The trade deadline they probably were told no by Polhad on adding money to the payroll.
  6. Time to have a talk with Polanco about his health. Looks like he is having leg issues again. Falling out of the box on every swing. Had 25% of the 16 strike outs Sunday. I see Gallo DFAed September 1st when Buxton and AK are back. With the strike zone in this game,a pitcher needed to use what the umpire was calling. Now comes a very tough road with the next 15 games.
  7. Polanco couldn't make the throws at Shortstop. They move him to 2nd for easier throw. Now let's put him at 3rd for a longer throw. Gray fell apart after the play Polanco couldn't make. This was a Gray problem again,he loses focus. They have to put the ball in play with bases loaded and 0 outs. They had 3 of the worst at bats all year and that's saying something. The game was over at that point, gave the Pirates momentum. Don't forget lead is not safe with 6 games against Cleveland in the next 2 weeks.
  8. This team better wake up now. Can't be getting caught sleeping on 1st or not advancing to 2nd on a deep fly ball. Kepler missed advancing earlier this year, and was told about it. Toughest part of the schedule coming up with 13 games against Texas and Cleveland. If you think Cleveland doesn't know this you are not following the game. Way too much talk about the playoffs when this team could easily be out of 1st by September 1st. And still have 2 games in Milwaukee next week. Everyone in baseball knows Jax will hang a slider over the plate,so they sit on it. Time to go back to St Paul with Moran. Right now they have 2 starting pitchers,Lopez and Gray. If Kuechel was the answer why is Lopez going Friday night.
  9. A couple of weeks ago I said Kuechel was a LH Bundy and would only be good for a inning or two. I was half right,he did last for one inning. You are not going to win any games scoring 2 runs in 3 games. People seem to get so excited with Polanco and Kepler hitting solo homeruns. The Phillies put the game out of reach with singles, doubles and walks. Rocco gave the game away in the 2nd inning leaving Kuechel in too long. Can't let the other team use your pitcher for batting practice. The BP still has no long relief pitcher,Winder and Sands are not it. So far this team has luck on its side with Cleveland playing Tampa this weekend. We have Texas and Tampa ahead and Cleveland is not going away.
  10. Here's a tip for who ever is at bat with men on the corners with no outs or 1 out PUT the ball in play. The game is called baseball, not homerun or strike out. Probably will be going to the playoffs by default playing a wildcard team with a better record than them. Which means losing out in the first round. If I were Maeda I would tell the FO no thank you I will be moving on at the end of the season.
  11. Offense was flat until Castro got the double. He is the straw that stirs the drink right now. Once he is on base he puts the pitcher on defense. Good defense played kept game in reach. Correa did make up for his 2 DP by finally getting a hit and 2 RBI's to take the lead. With Cleveland reeling need to take care of business in Detroit.
  12. Nice win for a team that is going to be strike out prone and set the record by a lot. Had more strike outs than runs. Maeda had a another great outing and looks like 2020. I think he didn't have his legs under him when he came back earlier in the year. Need to see if they can sign him for 1 year and a option for a second year. Hopefully they can take care of business today and Chicago does them a favor as well. Can't see why you don't send Moran to St Paul. He apparently didn't understand 11 run lead, throw the ball over the plate. Joe Mauer's daughters did better.
  13. Polhad's said no,play with the team you have. Adding a RH bat will not change anything. This team would still have the same problem. They are averaging 10 strike outs a game. Polhad's are watching the 33.5 million dollar boy hit just above .200 and 15+million dollar boy on IL again, who is also hitting about .200. We all know and have seen the overall problem can't score, because swinging for the fences. Starting to see it now with Julien and Wallner. How about last night, takes MAT late inning homerun to win. Had bases loaded twice and guess what Strike Out. Gallo and Popkins should of been shown the door weeks ago. I know the only thing that gets the fans attention is a homerun, that's not baseball. Put the ball in play is,making the other team make the play.
  14. Duran looks more like F Rodney right now. Put a couple of runners on and try to pitch around that. Problem with that approach is it isn't going to work every time. Castro can't take strike 3 with bases loaded and of course Joey Strike Out striking out with bases loaded. The way the game was playing out Rocco needed to PH for him,but didn't. With Cleveland playing Chicago this weekend can't afford to lose any this weekend.
  15. He has had nothing on his pitches since the complete game against Boston. Every team knows he is going to throw his fastball up in the zone. They are fouling pitches off again and again forcing his pitch count up. Can't have a SP with 25 to 30 pitches in the 1st inning. He has as many as 60 pitches still in the 3rd inning. His fastball has lost velocity and movement. Hopefully going the IL will get him back to what he was to start the season.
  16. Pohlad stepped in and said you play with what you have. This team is still the same as 2019,but without the talent. You see them swing for the fences every at bat. Without Solano coming off the bench for Joey Strike Out they would of lost 6th in a row. The off season has to change everything about this team. You can't have a team that thinks they all are homerun hitters. Getting 400 to 500 at bats gets you 20 to 30 homeruns, what about the other at bats. Going to the playoffs is the last thing this team needs.
  17. Lefty starting for KC let's stack the lineup with 8 right handed bats. Worst team in baseball hitting Lefty's. Why not make a change. Game was decided early with Correa and Buxton striking out in the 1st. Can't hit 70 mph curveball. Reminded me of movie Trouble with the Curve!! Apparently then decide to give the RF some fielding practice. Same time as last year falling out of 1st and making the injury excuse. The SP was off to the best start in years and wasted by the manager, coaches and players. FO can't make the right choice on paying the right kind of players. Donaldson didn't fit and Correa doesn't fit. Buxton needed to go two or three years ago. Time to sell any and all players that other teams may want. Polhad's need to put FO on notice and Rocco out the door.
  18. Correa is and was a disappointment last night again. Can't even hit a sacrifice fly to get the game tied. Not only a terrible average with RISP, keeps hitting into double plays. He now has hit into 20 double plays leading all of baseball. Maybe the analytics should of told Rocco to PH with Farmer. May have changed the outcome of the game at that point. And maybe would of had Correa look at his approach in those situations.
  19. Don't think Keuchel will add much with a 88 mph fastball. Had that last year with Bundy. May work for 1 inning, but we are going to get Theilbar back any day now. The pitching has been not good since the break. Ober has now shown he may have hit the wall, and the BP couldn't stop KC from adding on. Why is Rocco so in love with Moran,he has shown nothing for weeks now and is giving runs. At this time this team is in trouble and will be lucky to make playoffs.
  20. Can't win games striking out 14 times, this has become a every game problem. Moran needs to go to St.Paul, can't find the plate. Needed 5 pitchers because he couldn't get it done for 1 inning. Duran looked tired and took numerous pitches to get to 100. He couldn't locate his off speed, can't walk anyone with a runner already on. The only good thing that happened tonight was Cleveland lost as well.
  21. Cut Gallo and put him in LF,since we haven't had a everyday LF'er since Eddie. At last count I believe it is somewhere around 15-20 different players. Playing there would limit the chance of injuries and keep him in the lineup.
  22. Between Buxton and Gallo they have 20% of the team's strike outs. No Buxton the other day and still struck out 18 times. You are not going to win any games doing that. This is a problem that the fans should be blamed for as well as the players. It is all about the homerun, fans sit on their phones and only watch and cheer for the homerun. Listen to Dick Bremer talk its all the homerun. When they do play baseball it is 1 inning here and there. People bad mouth Castro day in and out,but he has done things on the bases this team hasn't seen in years. He has a good chance to steal 40 bases. I can't see this team holding on to 1st place playing the way they are. Cleveland gained 2.5 games in 3 days and has played 1 less game. Hopefully the Polhad's will step in at the end of the season and make changes.
  23. Needed this game badly and why leave Ryan in after 3 innings of pitching batting practice. When you're pitches are being hit into the seats in under 2 seconds its time to change. And we keep trying to hit solo homeruns to catch up. We were up 4 over Cleveland other day,may only be 1.5 tomorrow night. They play Chicago WS while we have KC.
  24. Terrible lose, can't give games away like this. BP knows I have to face 3 or more hitters, will need to throw strikes. Moran couldn't find the plate if he was standing on it. The HP umpire was giving pitchers a big strike zone,so use it. The first 2 games with Seattle 30 strike outs, that is equal to 10 innings of outs. Him sorry but why is Joey Strike Out still on the team. He has shown he is a automatic out. They now gave Seattle a boost to take the series.
  25. Because he had to start the season in St.Paul he has come up with attitude to prove he belongs. I like that in every player who comes to Majors. Playing with a edge makes you a better player. At this time he gives the team a good chance to win. And if Maeda can keep pitching well maybe the other 3 will step up and pitch better.
