  1. Just my 2 cents. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm in the camp that thinks that we're babying him just a little too much. I don't see why he's not out there in CF a few games during ST. If he can DH/bat, and run the bases, he can play the outfield. He could get a HBP and be out the whole season too. He got hurt last year sliding into 2nd base, not out in CF. Is he injury prone? Yep. He's sure proven that. I'd be willing to bet he comes up with something again this year that causes him to miss time. I don't think that's going to change. It can happen to anyone. Buxton should take some turns at DH...AND...play the field.
  2. I find it interesting, that these players that were more or less considered main pieces of our team last season...Sano, Sanchez, Archer, and Bundy...can't even swing a minor league deal with some team this year. Yes, Sano was hurt, but Sanchez was our regular catcher. He wasn't great, but he wasn't abysmal either. We trotted Archer and Bundy out to the mound all last season! Haven't heard a single thing about Sano, Sanchez, or Archer. Bundy just got a minor league deal with the Mets. Sano is the most surprising. I figured he would at least get some team taking a minor league flyer on him.
  3. It's the Bremer and Morny show today on BSN. Good to hear Richard's voice again. Only around one more week, guys! Now, back to Stringers play by play! Enjoy the game!
  4. I'm more than willing to give him a handful of starts in the regular season, and see what happens. Is it possible that he struggles? Sure, but let's make that decision down the road a bit. For now, it's a concern, but not overwhelmingly so. If he gets killed in his first 4-5 starts, then you have to pull him and get Ober, or someone else in there. I'm just as concerned with Mahle, as I am with Maeda. We've got some depth on the staff, but we still have some question marks right now.
  5. Great play by play by Stringer Bell!
  6. Ah...the old Cincy pipeline! In this case, I can't see the Reds doing that one.
  7. Don't get me wrong...I like Bremer and have no problem with him continuing as the tv guy...hell, I've been listening to him for 40 years...but if and when he decides to retire...I could really get used to Provus moving over from the radio booth. He's very good. He's also very good with Morneau. They seem to make a real good broadcast team.
  8. WOW...there's a Buxton sighting! Great to finally see that. Very nice to hear Provus and Morneau doing the game. Now...if we could only get some warmer weather and melt the damn snow here in Mn!
  9. Can't wait to see him back with the team and playing. He deserves it after what he's been through. Back to back ACL's on the same knee, is just an incredibly bad coincidence. He's overdue for some good things to happen.
  10. I grew up listening to Ralph Kiner in NY, so Gladden is like a walk in the park for me.
  11. Just read this on the Pioneer Press site. I was waiting to hear some news on the tv schedule. I'll be able to watch all except the Apple+ games. I'll worry about next season and beyond later on.
  12. Definitely concerned about Polanco's knee. It sure appears he's going to be IL when the season starts. It's not trending in the right direction. We have the depth to cover it, but it would be great to have Polo in there.
  13. I'm not taking a sip of any kool-aid until I see how the first 40-50 games go. I also want to see if Rocco has learned anything. Then, we'll see. If injuries don't blow us out of the water again, we should know something by then.
  14. I would love to be a cord cutter, but I honestly don't have the slightest way how to go about it. I need all the help I can get. Step by step instructions. I'm lost when it comes to this stuff. I currently have Spectrum...and sure, I know they're gouging me. My bill is around $225 per month for land line phone, internet, and tv. My wife and I are both in our mid/upper 60's and each have a boat-load of health issues...we feel we need a land line phone. We do have cell phones, but use Consumer Cellular...we don't live on cell phones like most people do these days. Just basic talk and text, that's it, and not much of either one. We also need home internet service. Lastly, we need tv service. Yep, there are 100+ worthless channels that we don't ever watch, but to get the few we do watch...including the Twins, we have to take a particular tier. I know there are options for local channels with a converter, and we do have a couple of those for use. That doesn't solve the national channels that we want, or the Twins games. I feel like we're kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, with no real good options. Spectrum is the only cable game in town in our area. I'd love some suggestions as to what to do.
  15. I think Gallo is definitely the best overall option to play 1B, if Kirilloff can't go...and have the other guys in LF. My second choice would be to have Julien at 1B. Solano is best suited as a utility guy.
  16. I'm not a real fan of Gallo, but if he can somehow hit .225 or so, with 35 hr's, 90 ribbys, and 80 bb's...he'd be worth the flyer we took on him. Probably too much to ask for him to hit his weight. He'd win comeback player of the year. I suppose then he'd be looking for a big multi year contract either with us or someone else.
  17. Been following it somewhat, but to be honest...I'm not a real big fan of the WBC. No doubt it has a different atmosphere/vibe to it, but I just can't get into it. I'd watch any spring training game, before a WBC game. Bring on the MLB regular season!
  18. Would really like our guys to be doing a lot more of that this season.
  19. Passed away this morning at age 95.
  20. Seven hits and a walk in 2.1 for Mahle. Ouch! Sale looks pretty good. It's nice to hear Provus on the broadcast.
  21. If he can hit the way everyone seems to think he can...they're gonna have to find a spot for him. Who's to say his defense won't improve, if he works at it.
  22. Pretty surprising, and probably very telling, that he isn't on the DR roster. I guess no one was interested after his little "showcase".
