  1. Health is going to make a couple of the decisions but if Alcala and Staumont are healthy I think they are in. Throw in Funderburk with your four locks and I will take Ryan Jensen as number 8. Looks like on paper that they have some depth but that always seems to evaporate. Good Article
  2. Rooting for Rachael Balkovec. I have three daughters and played ball with Rachael's dad. Great family high integrity. Glad you mentioned her as it is quite an accomplishment.
  3. I felt that last year's depth was the real MVP. Not really one player. Castro, Taylor, Solano, Farmer all played big roles and none were starters at the beginning of the year. I hope they do not trade Kepler, Polanco or Vasquez. They still should have some money to spend and should be able to purchase a major league starter. That to me is what they do not have covered right now. I do not see a starter ready in the minors when inevitably a starting pitcher gets hurt. A back up center-fielder we should be able to piece together. Bullpen there may be help in the minors. MLB ready starting pitcher not seeing it. Good Post
  4. I hope they don't trade any of their players. Their best player last year was named Depth. I would keep him for this year. They have enough money to sign a major league starter. Clevinger was mentioned a couple times in this thread. He would be fine. Add a couple cheaper relievers. Worry about playoff starters at the trade deadline.
  5. I think the Twins are only in if the price drops.
  6. It does depend on a lot of factors. Today he let Farmer bat against a right-handed reliever but we had a nice lead and he is decent defense at 3B. I have not been a Rocco fan but I believe he is starting to get the hang of being the manager. Dusty Baker schooled him a few years back in the play offs. This seems more even
  7. Lowder is a solid pick and close to mlb ready. They could do a lot worse. I do not know much about Clark. Crews looks to me like Austin Martin so I am not as high on him as most people. Skenes and Langford look to me like the top two. They both should be gone by the fifth pick and if they are I would be fine with Lowder.
  8. You insulted Dave Kingman. No way we have 7-8 hitters as good as Dave Kingman in the lineup
  9. How long before the Twins consider a managerial change if the poor play continues and ticket sales lag.
  10. How has Alcala looked? I thought he was going to be the closer last year after they traded Taylor Rogers. He was hurt before he got a chance
  11. Not worried yet but you are right that it is not a good start. Hopefully Buxton and Polanco just being cautious. Glad we have depth. Keep reading posters who want to trade Farmer or Kepler. Just say NO
  12. Polanco is not that good defensively and we have other players who can play 2B. It does make sense that he DH more
  13. Seems like many posters are overlooking that we do not have a DH this year. Gordon will get plenty of AB's as we rotate at DH. The acquisitions this spring should only reduce Gordon's Ab's versus left-handed pitching. Seems fine to me.
  14. Larnach goes to the minors if everyone is healthy, He will play everyday until needed. That leaves 13 hitters on the 26 man roster. Two catchers, Kiriloff, Polanco, Correa, Miranda, Kepler, Buxton, Gallo one of these will DH or play the field so a regular can DH - Farmer, Solano, Gordon, Taylor. Facing RH starter probably Gordon main DH Increases our depth and gives us more flexibility to pinch hit for Kiriloff and face lefty starters and play 1B when Kiriloff is hurt. If Kiriloff is out and Twins need a lefty bat they recall Larnach. These moves may be a reaction to the minor league we trotted out last September when we could have been in a pennant race. I think this move makes a lot of sense.
  15. What about trying to resign Rogers now? Value has to be low and I agree with Doctor Gast that he was mismanaged in San Diego. He would pitch multiple days in a row and had several outings over 1 inning. Off season he should be refreshed. He is miscast as a closer but could still be a solid late inning reliever if you manage his usage.
  16. Isn't this the pitcher we were hoping to get from the Dodgers in the Dozier trade? It just took awhile to pick him up.
  17. Thanks for the article. You did a lot of research. You pointed out Jeffries versus the lefties and Vasquez versus righties makes sense. I am guessing that is how they convinced Vasquez that he will be the main guy. That and $30 million.
  18. I agree. This sucks
  19. Starting to feel like Royce Lewis AFL season. Just hope it continues. How has he looked at shortstop?
  20. Can they piggyback Archer and Sanchez when Mahle comes back? Try and save the bullpen a few innings
  21. Rogers gave up a run tonight. His is 3.86 also. He got his 28th save
  22. I like having Gordon on the team. If he is ever an everyday starter I think something has gone wrong.
  23. We need more articles like this. Gordon just hit his first home run
