  1. I think the bullpen games have been a problem in having a rested scheduled bullpen. I would rather see them stack Smeltzer and Stashak and if it does not work you lose one game. Using up nine bullpen innings and losing feels much worse.
  2. Calling Rosario's attempt to catch that ball in the first a misplay is a little harsh. That ball was smoked and missed being a home run by about a foot,
  3. Perfect schedule to get the bats going.
  4. It is so nice having a deep pen. I remember the years with a 7th inning guy an 8th inning set up man and the 9th inning closer. About a 3 game winning streak is about all you could get to and then your bullpen was tapped out. Today the only bullpen guy that pitched yesterday was Rogers and he only threw 5 pitches. I bet he is off tommorrow but Duffey, Romo, Clippard did not throw today so would be available.
  5. The 3-2 pitch he swung and missed today hit the plate. Bieber had good stuff today but that pitch was a foot out of the strike zone.
  6. Bailey is too low. He will be more valuable than 44th. I would rank him around 20th. He will outperform Zander Wiehl, Nick Gordon, Lewis, Celestino, Romero, Blakenhorn, Wade just by opportunity. I think he will be a decent 5th starter and post an era in the 4.50-4.70 range
  7. Thanks for the update. It was probably the cold weather series that Rocco was concerned on the 3 hours between warm up and possibly pinch hitting
  8. I am not sure that Nelson Cruz even pinch hit in the NL road games. I think he has an extensive pre game warm up routine and I remember someone saying Rocco did not even want to pinch hit him three hours after he warms up. Not sure how to check how many times he pinch hit last year.
  9. I am guessing but they may be leaving a spot open for someone that does not make a team that they are interested in taking a chance. Maybe Brian Dozier
  10. Avila is a powerful left handed bat. Garver will get plenty of rest. I would think something like 45 games for Garver- 15 Avila So glad that the conversation can turn to actual baseball stuff. But for some reason I still feel like the season may not happen.
  11. I do not think that drafted high school players or draft eligible 3rd year college players will be that hard to sign. Since there is only 5 rounds the money the Twins will be able to offer will still be substaintial. Close to a half million. I would think with all the uncertainty this year not signing could backfire. Turning down that much money to try again next year (Sabato and Soularie) or even in three years (Raya and Rosario). Next years draft will have more draft eligible players than this year. Who is 100% certain there is a season next year? I do not think that Sabato or Soularie will want to gamble that much money. CBA agreement is up in 2021 so if you are a high school player that turns down half a million you are going to be eligible in three years in a draft that you have no idea what the rules are. Also the next few years financial outlook isn't all that great. Take the money start on your career. I think they sign all four and very soon. I think signing undrafted college players will be much harder due to the $20,000 limit. Not all schools are giving seniors the opportunity to return to school next year. The Twins may be able to find a few this way. They will need to sell their development plan for these players. It will be like college recruiting. Only with legal $20,000 payments.
  12. Great idea- this is a fun series of articles
  13. Very well thought through. I had several of those thoughts as I read through Nick's article. I am just hoping that politics stays out of the Twins Daily site. One reason I enjoy this sight is that it usually sticks to baseball.
  14. I thought the 1992 team was going to make the list
  15. I agree that Sano will not be as good as Mauer defensively but he will be better than Cron. I bet Polanco's throwing errors are down this year.
  16. Service time is a big consideration. But I also wonder where your top prospects will develop if they are not on the taxi squad. I think you have to include them so you do not lose a year development from Balazovich, Lewis, Larnach and Kiriloff
  17. Makes sense this year with the expanded roster size. Twins should push for a 30 man roster
  18. Polanco and Sano's throwing errors went up when Mauer quit playing first base. He was an underrated defensive first baseman. Cron had good power but was stiff defensively. Throws in the dirst that Mauer scooped Cron did not and the error's are charged to the infielder that threw it. I am more worried about Sano at first than Polanco at short. If Sano puts in the work and turns in to a good defensive first baseman. Polanco will be fine. Not great
  19. Asbber the best player in baseball
  20. Brian Duensing is from Nebraska and no Twins listed from there either. I thought Dave Winfield would be listed from Minnesota. It is a fun list
  21. Twins are in a great position in the outfield. I would not be aftaid to trade nor in a hurry to do so. Just because prior front offices failed trading players that should not affect the current front office's thinking.
  22. Is it still being held in Omaha? I assume since they were holding it just before the college world series and the CWS is cancelled there is no reason to hold it in Omaha.
  23. Thanks for the article. You put a lot of thought in to it. If Bailey is as good as Odorizzi and Maeda is as well. I sure hope we have a season this year.
  24. Do you think they are going to prorate Pineda's suspension? I think that would be bad precedent. I doubt that he is back quicker. I think it could be a lost year for him also.
  25. Are the minor league games and practices shut down also?
