  1. Now I have two reasons to root for Sanchez to sign with the Cubs. Get him out of our division and take a bidder away for Marcum
  2. I was thinking of Gardy when they signed Correia and all I could think of was it's time for Hawk Harrelson - He Gone
  3. These recaps are very much appreciated. Thanks for keeping them coming. Where does Colabello fit in? He keeps hitting they have to give him a chance at some point don't they?
  4. I couldn't agree with you more. I think the twins are playing this market very well. The Dodgers signing of Ryu and the Royals trading for a pitcher rather than signing a free agent also helps. The Dodgers will now put two starters(Capuano, harang, maybe Lilly) on the market I think the next thing that would help is if the brewers sign Dempster(not marcum). The Angels, Red Sox, Rangers should grab Sanchez, Lohse maybe Edwin Jackson. That leaves the Twins with the money and rotation spots for the Marcum, Saunders, Myers level as you suggested. If you look at the number of starters available and how many teams are looking for free agent starters this market will not stay nearly as high as it has been. It will be Twins time right around Christmas.
  5. Here is what you willl hear about Hicks when he is sent down- He needs triple A AB's - we have three young centerfielders and we need Hicks to play everday - He needs to work on his __________ so we sent him to triple A. He will be the centerfielder an hour after the full year of service date passes. That is usually around June 1st. No way out of spring training.
  6. How about Doumit for Capuano. They could use him as a utility player. You know Crawford is going to miss some time
  7. I would bet you could offer lower ranked prospects if you also took Santana back. Mets would probably love to include his $20+ million salary. They just extended Wright and owner has money trouble. We need 2 more pitchers and have the $25 million to spend.
  8. I would add Tyler Cloyd to that list. He pitched pretty well when he was called up last year
  9. Apparently, John Manuel identified two guys who he thought were the top two on the board, both of which had that kind of stuff. Lara was one of them and Domingez(?) was the other. Neither was picked, not by the Twins, not by anyone. I'm not busting on Manuel, or on the Twins, or on the other GMs. I think it just shows that there is a lot of unknowns in this process. But I'd sure be a lot more excited about a big arm like that than I ame about Pressly, FWIW. I think Lara was picked in the second round by Marlins. It does seem like that type of pick has more potential
  10. Josh Hamilton I hope the Twins select two players. You can look at them in the spring and try to work out a trade with the previous team that would allow you to keep them in the minors. If you give them back it only costs you $25,000. With the salaries today 25K is nothing
  11. Faced with having to top the 4 year $58 million contract that Beuhrle received should have ended their interest in him. I would stay far away from a bidding war for Brett Myers. But I definitely agree with you on the middle infield. That can be addressed reasonably and I don't see the Twins even rumored for free agents at those positions. I think our pitching would do better if they had major league shortstops behind them. Our fielding at 3rd base has been poor also and now we are putting Parmelee in the out field and subtracting Span. Picking up some good defensive players wouldn't break the budget and would help the entire pitching staff.
  12. If they use the money that was committed to Span ( 20 million next 3 years if you include his option) to sign a quality free agent pitcher, then this move definitely could help them next year. I think the Twins next move will tell us if they are serious about next year or are starting to rebuild. Personally I hope they rebuild.
  13. Thanks for the links. Meyer said he needs to refine his circle change. Sounds like Cuellar has another spring training assignment
  14. Guthrie is a definite upgrade. Pitched well when he got out of Coors. Pitched solid in AL East which is more than any of our pitchers could do. No ace but we aren't getting three aces.
