I would make the call and see which prospects you get with Happ. Certainly they will have to send someone along with Happ. Because sending money with him defeats their purpose of getting under the luxury tax. They do not need Andujar any more. What would a Happ-Andujar trade look like. Twins can use a 3rd baseman. We would have to send something back to even this up but if it is not much

As high as the free agent prices are going I think the trade route is the way to go. Whether it is for Happ? If Wes Johnson likes him then go for it.

I like this deal. They replaced Castro for slightly over $4 million a year. I also like the timing as now the Twins have filled some needs- two starters and the platoon catcher. They know those costs as they are bidding on higher priced free agents.

Love it Seth as long as we add 2 other starting pitchers either through free agency or trade. I hope we do not leave the 5th spot open for Dobnek, Thorpe, Smeltzer or Graterol. They will get thier chances as starters may be ineffective or hurt. You need at least eight possible starters.

There was mention on MLB trade rumors that the Orioles were working on trading Dylan Bundy. Do you think the Twins are interested? What do you think it would take to trade for Caleb Smith?

Have to be working on trades. Too many corner OF/IB types. Nice position to be in to be able to trade from a surplus. Can't remember our last real surplus.

I like the idea of trying to trade for Gray. Brandon posted pretty close to what I was thinking but I was leaning toward McGee since he is left handed and we could use another lefty in the bullpen.

What about Garver ? Too risky because he is a catcher?
  9. Otwins
I hope they don't replace Rosario with anyone from this list.

A trade makes a lot of sense. Not sure we have openings for all of our prospects. I am a Jon Gray fan. He has very good stuff and can get strikeouts. Get him out of Coors field and see what happens.

Rosario may not bring the type of pitching that we need. You cited the 103 WRC and the $9 million contract. Not sure there is enough excess value there. I would explore a trade of an outfielder for pitching. It may have to be one of the prospects. MLB trade rumors mentioned Colorado may be looking at trading Story or Jon Gray as they are in a payroll bind. They would probably want the prospect outfielder. Gray may do better away from Coors.

Pretty exciting that the lineup you laid out is already signed or under control. I think 7 of those 9 are controlled for the 2021 season. I am with you on moving Rosario out of the clean up spot. Not sure that Rocco is

That is the one place we missed Joe Mauer. He was an excellent defensive first baseman. Sano and Polanco's throwing errors both increased this year. Did they both get worse or was our 1B defense worse. I think it was the latter. Don't think we can play Sano at third and Cron at first and think we will have an average infield defense. We are best defensively with Adrianza at shortstop.

I would leave Perez on the roster and use as a loogy. Leave off either Smeltzer or Thorpe. Otherwise I think you nailed it

I agree on game one also. We need two starts from our best starter. I think just about anyone will give up an extra home run per game while pitching in New York

If Cron is brought back he should be platooned. His numbers versus left handers are good. Wonder if Cave can play 1B some. Mitch Moreland is a free agent at the end of the year and would be a good platoon partner. Just based on roster space and cost I would try Cave some at 1B

Thanks for the Madlock comp. I hope that is accurate. I do think Arraez will hit for more power than this year eventually so could be Bill Madlock. I remember when Eduardo Escobar first came up he was not a power hitter but it has developed for him quite well. Really excited about his future

There was only one solid hit. The other three were soft contact. His pitches had good movement and more importantly he was hitting the catcher's target. That has been a big problem for him lately. I would give him two more two inning relief appearances and then decide his playoff roster fate. Multi inning relievers are a must in the playoffs. He might be able to fill that role.

Buxton for me. His defense is top of the league valuable. Not sure Sano has a skill that will lead the league. Maybe home runs some year. Both are very valuable IF they can stay healthy

Outstanding preview. You don't find this anywhere else. Thanks

And Cruz? Schoop pinch hit for him

Any reason given on the change to Railey going to the AFL? I was looking forward to Kirilloff playing.

Thanks for the great coverage of the minor leagues. These are my favorite articles on my favorite web site
  24. Otwins
Everyone's throwing errors are up. Maybe Mauer is missed at 1B. He was an excellent defensive 1st baseman. Cron is not. Hope I never see Adrianza there again

Not to pile on Eddie because he is one of my favorite players but not only has it affected his fielding and base running but also his hitting. He is not hitting for as much power as he was. I thought he made it 5-0 when he pulled that ball today but it hit the limestone and even after Soler fumbled the ball Eddie was not at second base. He has hit three balls off the wall this week that I think would have been home runs earlier in the year. I am wondering like LA Vikes Fan also. Ankle is worse than a sprain.
