  1. I think our outfield defense is much improved since the start of the year. "Trading" Arcia, moving Sano back to infield and using Buxton more than Santana has the outfield defense looking solid.
  2. I would like to see them trade Santana and eat some salary to increase the player/prospect return coming back. If Berrios takes the rotation spot your payroll does not increase.
  3. I think they may have kept Santana to try and trade Nunez. Escobar starting to hit again. Sano coming back. Santana just has a bigger role on the team. That said if not offered anything for Nunez. Santana could be next when Rosario, Sano are ready to return. He will go before Grossman.
  4. I won't miss Arcia. He was not going to be a part of the Twins going forward. The wild swings, piss poor at bats and poor defense. Does he have power? Yes. His ceiling is platoon DH. I think he heads to Oakland. These type of players are available every year at the end of free agency looking for jobs in the 3-5 million a year range. Think Chris Carter this year. His floor is what he has been doing the last two years.
  5. I think John Ryan Murphy may be a bust. He has not looked good this spring. Hopefully I am wrong.
  6. I think that depth is often overlooked but it is what you need to have a good season. You need a solid 40 man roster. Not just 25
  7. Thanks for the analysis. His curve and his change up looked like his two best pitches in his last start.
  8. Sweeney and Quentin are playing well . Did not think either of them had a chance to make the roster until I came to Fort Myers. Yesterday Quentin stayed on the practice field with Bruno working on staying thru the ball. He absolutely crushed his home run today. One of the longest balls I have ever seen hit. He also had a double off a nice swing. Sweeney has looked good all week. This could get very interesting if it continues this way for a couple more weeks. Tonkin has not looked good to me. A lot of good swings at his fastball. Has the velocity but not enough movement. Berrios was outstanding today. The one hit he gave up today was an infield hit that most likely would have been an out if Escobar was still in the game.
  9. One of the questions I see is about Park's ability to handle the higher velocity in the majors. Triple AAA 's velocity is a step up from Korean league. Why not have him prove he can handle that first before starting in the majors.
  10. I was thinking the Twins traded Hardy to Baltimore for Hoey and Jacobson not Harris
  11. I would think that the prices on these signings would have to be low. It would be a good time to be aggressive. I really like the Holland idea. He probably would not help until next year but would probably require a small guarantee for this year.
  12. I don't think it is a maybe not. I wonder how likely it is that he even tries for another contract. I wouldn't be shocked to see him play out his next three years then go raise his kids. Why wait for the next concussion?
  13. How much would you expect Clippard to cost? I would think he would be the only free agent worth looking in to. Otherwise may have to trade. I agree with you on aiming higher or just going in house. Glad they moved on from Boyer and Duensing.
  14. Yeah those tigers. The ones that won the division three of the past four years
  15. Royals at 130 million after signing Kennedy. Tigers still discussing Cespedes trying to calculate luxury tax ramifications. White Sox discussing numerous "big money free agents" Hope this works out
  16. One drawback I see in trying to sign Dexter Fowler is that Span got three years and I think Fowler gets at least that. I would not sign him. I think we have to be patient. This will sort itself out and the good news is there are options.
  17. I agree with the bullpen additions. I think they will add one or two guys in the 1 year $3 million range. I really hope they do not add an outfielder. It is time to play Buxton, Rosario, Sano, Arcia and see what you have at the major league level. The prospects need to turn into production. Don't need a veteran outfielder and then not being able to have a spot for Arcia. Even though I think Arcia really needs to improve in the field. I believe he will hit this year.
  18. I realize the Twins need some left handed power but I do not see where he fits unless there is an injury or Park needs some triple A time. If his defense does not improve drastically he is hard to put in the lineup.
  19. I think this is the way they are going to go. I would be surprised if we sign Clipppard or Bastardo. You can make a pretty good case against the 3-4 year deals for relievers. I would like to see one solid reliever and then a gamble or two.
  20. Thanks for the analysis. All he needs to be right now is better than Duensing and Aaron Thompsen to help the bullpen. Sounds like he has a good chance to do that.
  21. Another point about calling up Berrios is that most posters assume that he would have replaced Pelfrey. How do we know it would not have reduced Duffey's starts. I was all for calling up Berrios especially since you could still manipulate his service time by leaving him in AAA at the start of next season. I am not sure it would have made a difference but you have to try when you get this close.
  22. Thanks for the excellent coverage that we have received for the entire minor league season.
  23. With all the young talent they have this is not as big of a problem as it could have been. Too bad the money wasn't well spent as they would be in terrific shape if that happened.
  24. You picked the right guy and I don't think it is even that close. He hit .500 in 78 plate appearances. I realize he is young and in the low minors but do you think he will be ranked on the prospect lists?
  25. May have to trade Plouffe open up the DH spot for Arcia/Hunter. I would think you could get a catcher or shortstop for Plouffe. I would not trade Arcia now. All of the players you mentioned could be worth quite a bit more next year. I think Plouffe's value has about peaked and is very good so trade him before he gets expensive.
