  1. Well he has one good reliever to choose from. This FO bullpen construction philosophy is inexcusable.
  2. Jeffers is a bad base runner. Someone needs to tell him to just go station to station. There is nothing his running is going to do to help the Twins win.
  3. Yea the idea that the pen is sufficient is pretty laughable. They literally have Duran and then cross your fingers.
  4. Well Wallner is slumping and Gallo stinks. So if I need someone to play left field Gordon may end up being an option. You would at least plan for that contingency.
  5. Good grief. He’s pitched 6 innings. We know nothing about him - I almost skipped the article and should have.
  6. I think they have made far fewer baserunning blunders this year compared to last year when they were terrible. That said they are not a particularly good baserunning team but that has mostly to do with lineup construction.
  7. You say there were other ways to handle him but don’t say what those other ways were. They needed him taking a regular turn to try and win the division. I’m pretty critical of the FO but don’t really any mishandling here. They had a good rotation all season long and Bailey got thru an entire season without injury. Sounds like a pretty good outcome to me.
  8. They do have a core of good young players and a starting rotation that should be pretty good going forward. Totally disagree they have a star studded farm system. I actually think it’s kind of weak especially in the pitching department. I think the key will be if they adapt their philosophy on lineup and bullpen construction which I believe are flawed. The lineup concerns may be going away with the integration of the good young players who are more well rounded hitters than what we have seen. However the pitching concerns me as we still need more and there ain’t much on the farm. That means more trades which are fine if they work.
  9. I only care what he hits in the big leagues. He’s been fine but the jury is always out on young players until the league sees them and they see the league for a while. As far as his defense goes he is not good. If you know anything about baseball that is pretty clear. He can get better but passable is his top end result.
  10. Good question. Not getting a López level pitcher for him. I think his value would be viewed very differently by different teams. I would not trade Lewis or Lee and probably not Kiriloff either. Wallner for sure with the right return.
  11. He has improved in the field but let’s be honest. He had nowhere to go but up. I like Julien as a player but I think the hype is premature. Let’s see where we are at after the league sees him for a bit. I would pull another Arreaz deal and trade him for a young starter.
  12. People are always in a rush to judge prospects. To compare Royce to Cavaco and Enlow is plain ridiculous. It’s also way too early to anoint him the next superstar - let him get 1000 at bats and then make a judgment.
  13. In addition to his hitting the infield defense has been much improved since his return. He and Correa sync up well on double plays. There have been several difficult dps turned that bailed out our pitchers. Plays that Julien has no chance on. I agree that his health is a concern but in terms of overall production on both sides of the ball he is our best second baseman and it ain’t even close.
  14. I don’t blame Rocco one bit for pitching Castro. Otherwise we actually use up our bullpen more than Cleveland does. The game was a farce - imagine paying big money for some great seats and you watch the backup catcher pitch four innings. I caution everyone to not get too excited. This team frequently follows big offensive games with nothing for several games after
  15. Not a good look for the league. Has the weird twist that the Twins end up using their bullpen more. Don’t want to hear any more crap about respecting the game.
  16. Swing the fing bat. We all know that borderline pitches can be called strikes. Julien has a chance to do real damage at a critical part of the game and puts it in the umpires hands.
  17. I had patella tendinitis and once it got in there it was a bugger to get rid of. I would rest until the pain went away. As soon as I resumed activity it would come back. Finally knocked it out with steroids. There is cartilage on the back side of the knee cap (patella). Apparently you can grind it right away until you have bone on bone and then you are pretty much done. Hope that’s not where Buck is at.
  18. This doesn’t bode well for the future. I want Royce to be working out in CF all winter. Just too bad - watching Buck in CF has been one of the highlights of my baseball watching life.
  19. Another variety pack of home plate umpiring. The last pitch was 6” inside.
  20. Still agree with TK. You don’t know what you have in a hitter until they have 1000-1500 at bats. I would trade him for sure. He’s basically a DH so offensive bar to clear is pretty high.
  21. I think Varland would be the biggest help. I have serious doubts that Stewart will get fully healthy. Paddack is going to be rusty and pitchers often struggle when they first get back from tj. I don’t understand why people keep talking aboutAlcala. He’s been good once for 2 months. The rest of the time he’s been bad or hurt.
  22. As was so poetically stated in the movie The Sting “ that’s what you get for playing cards with your head up your ass”.
  23. For me the disappointment is rooted in the fact the FO has had seven years to build something and they really haven’t gained much of any ground. Many ways to argue the details but I get back this. We have a slightly over 500 team with a flawed lineup and deeply flawed bullpen. More than enough time to have constructed a better overall team. I am excited about some of the younger players but don’t really have any confidence that we will ever have a good much less great bullpen or that our offensive approach will ever have much consistency.
