  1. I think Viola’s change up was on par with Johans. Didn’t Duran stop throwing the splinker for a while this summer because he was giving up loud contact?
  2. Would he one of the 13 best pitchers available to the Twins? If yes get him up here. Hint: if he isn’t better than Archer Megill or Pagan then I’m disappointed.
  3. Megill gives up another homer. They seriously need to move on from this guy. It will be interesting to see who goes when injured players start returning.
  4. I wonder if a less lively ball is going to make the all or nothing sluggers less attractive. We’ve got enough swing and miss in our lineup. Perhaps a trade is the best outcome.
  5. My understanding is that he is mediocre in the field with no real positional home. Can someone verify?
  6. I have my doubts because of the walk rate but he really is the only healthy potential long term pen piece we have. Time to find out what he can do with an extended run.
  7. It’s really too bad that the whole mess started with Altuve being such a baby. He barely got hit and there is no way Sanchez is trying to hit him. And Megill doesn’t disappoint giving up the long ball. He is not good but flies under the radar.
  8. The “puff piece” article actually has nothing to do with Buck learning Spanish. He did it to be a better teammate not to get written about. If your beef is with the author of the article then fine. If you are denying Buck credit for trying to be a better teammate then you are wrong.
  9. He has been a godsend especially because he has been used in different situations. I hope he works on the splinker and can use it again. This is also an interesting story because he didn’t always tear it up in the minors.
  10. This. The vaunted pitching pipeline is turning out to be a garden hose.
  11. Well let’s also remember Cavaco and Sabato bothe first round picks haven’t done much. Normally they would be leading your list right now.
  12. I guess I missed where the Twins said he was going to be a long reliever. I get that it seems logical but the premise of the article is based on that assumption. Perhaps they are going to let Pagan be the long reliever as he just had a multiple inning outing.
  13. As much as I like Miranda I think I would go with Duran. Without him the Twins would have been sunk long ago. Imagine that bullpen without him. Miranda is a close second. He’s kind of a throwback in that he hits the outside pitch the other way. He’s our best all around hitter and it ain’t even close.
  14. Viola once threw Dwight Evans 9 straight change ups in one game. Evans had no chance.
  15. Bundy has had a number of excellent starts along with some clunkers. All in all he hasn’t been bad as a fifth starter. I wouldn’t pick up his option but I also wouldn’t mind bringing him back as depth. Archer is a no go. He just doesn’t provide enough value with his limited schedule. Plus he walks an entire marching band half the time.
  16. Disagree. With his hitting profile Lee could be in the majors in two years. He’s not gonna play SS in the big leagues and if he does he will be sub par. While the positions have similarities there are enough differences that he should play third now and be polished on both sides of the ball when he makes the bigs.
  17. And he had a great game behind the plate blocking numerous pitches in the dirt. There would have been a couple passed balls with our other catchers.
  18. I’m sure Pagan is trying his damnest. The fact that he is this position is on the front office. Rocco can’t hide one of his relievers in todays baseball. He is running out the guys he has been given. If you want a pound of flesh over this deal head to the front office.
  19. When did Enlow start pitching in relief? This won’t be popular but let’s move Lee to third right now and have him get ready to be a gold glove third baseman. Keeping guys at short when their long term future is elsewhere seems counterproductive. It sure isn’t doing Martin any favors.
  20. TK always said momentum is today’s starting pitcher. In other words they can come out and turn this thing around. They just need to be the best team in the division the rest of the way and they are in. After last year being essentially tied for first on August 12 th sounds pretty good. They haven’t been sharp for a while but that can change. A good place to start is to start playing cleaner baseball.
  21. Yea I think nobody cares how we get in but they do care that we’ve been leaking oil for two months. Can they snap out of it and win the division? Sure. Can they keep playing the way they have the last two months and win the division? Highly doubtful.
  22. I’m a little worried about Ryan. Have no idea what’s going on. I really hope it isn’t the league getting used to the unusual arm slot. On the bright side Rocco used the two worst relievers in the blowout. We can come back today with a fully armed pen.
  23. Remember last year at this time when we were eagerly awaiting the pitching pipeline that was going to pour out numerous good pitchers this year? You can take any group of minor league pitchers and half won’t make it due to injury or ineffectiveness. You can include Ober in that group as well.
