  1. I wonder to what extent signability scared teams off Prielipp. Given his circumstances it's possible he's seeking 1st round $$$$.
  2. History aside, it doesn't mean they shouldn't do it. It's the biggest weakness of this team. However, as you said, it's a seller's market. I don't know where the help is going to come from.
  3. That's what's so frustrating. Things happen.... that's just baseball. There will always be those soul crushing inexplicable losses, but with this team it just seems to happen every other day. This team could have so easily had a ten game lead in the division.
  4. He has pitched well, but I don't see the need for an extension. He's on the downhill slope of his career. Pick up his option and then reassess after next season.
  5. I know this is satire, but how many quality starters have the Twins developed in the last 25 years? Berrios, Radke....I guess you can count Santana.
  6. Was he ever fully healed? When you watch the replay it's not clear how his knee got hurt.
  7. I'd give Kirilloff a pass since he is still basically a rookie and is coming off a season ending injury. I also give Pagan a pass since my expectations were low to begin with. (He hasn't disappointed.) As far as Sano.....what happened? I don't recall a player imploding so quickly and inexplicably. Remember when we had visions of him being a future MVP? I don't know where he fits on this club anymore. I can think of half a dozen guys I would rather see at 1B or DH than Sano.
  8. I wouldn't feel bad about not giving Lewis the benefit of the doubt. I don't think anyone expected him to come out of the gate this year like he has. The talent was certainly always there, but he has never had a sustained run of success in the minors. Injuries certainly played a part of that, and are still a concern going forward.
  9. How long will they let Archer keep taking his turn every 5 days? At this point he needs to be behind Smeltzer and Winder in the pecking order.
  10. Maybe Taylor Rogers will become available at the trade deadline. A guy like him would come in handy, because he can close or be used as a situational lefty. Also, the Twins are already paying his salary!
  11. As much as I have been critical of this front office, even I don't think they were expecting to get fair value in terms of production. There had to be method to their madness. As Mr. Christie stated above, this was all about unloading Donaldson. So why did they do it? I suspect we'll never know the full story of what went down during that weekend of trades until someone spills the juicy details in an attempt to sell their biography ten years from now. Anything else is complete speculation.
  12. What hope is there that he will contribute in 2023 or 2024? Apart from his rookie campaign in 2019 he's been terrible. That's what I never understood about this trade. He just isn't that good, and he had a known issue with his elbow. What was the Twins front office thinking?
  13. I don't get it. He has played other positions adequately, and he may need to if Correa decides to play out his contract. This is a dumb move.
  14. This sucks! Royce Lewis or not, there is no way to sugarcoat this. Correa was a big part of their run over the last couple weeks. It's going to be hard to recover from this. Wait! Late breaking news...all may not be lost....https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/05/carlos-correa-to-undergo-ct-scan-on-finger.html May only be a bruise!
  15. Not happening, and I don't think it should. Name one of those 9-10 year mega contracts that has worked out for the signing team? If the Twins thought it was a good idea they already would have done it. As it is, if Correa keeps slumping he will probably be with us two more years. (I think this is a low probability scenario.)
  16. Not unexpected, but disappointing. He had a big arm at one point. Maybe a change of scenery will help.
  17. I agree the Cotton move was odd. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but with a bullpen with so many question marks, it's strange that they would cut him loose without even really giving him a chance.
  18. I'm in the camp that doesn't really get this trade. I just can't believe they blew a hole in their bullpen for a reclamation project like Paddack. Given that....I'm hoping that PTBNL is someone the Twins really covet, and not some toss-in/lotto ticket type.
  19. Not having a real closer killed this team last year, and it looks like history is repeating itself.
  20. "Neither Falvey nor Levine would comment on the fact that TC Bear is not a real bear, but in fact a person in a pretend bear costume....." LIES!!!
  21. Bumping Ober to the pen would be the wrong move, mainly because Ober is a better pitcher than Paddack. Archer is not stretched out, so I'm guessing someone will be splitting innings with him for the first few weeks. I would put Paddack in the pen until the situation works itself out.
  22. They are paying Bundy $4 million this year and hold a team option for 2023. They are going to give him every possible chance to succeed, for better or worse.
