  1. Someone is also going to have to come off the 40 man. I can't think of anyone currently on the roster that I would value less than Gallo....not even Pagan.
  2. Which means he'll probably be batting clean -up for the Twins!
  3. $11 million? Is MLB so out of whack that Joey Gallo is worth $11 million? Was there a bidding war for his services?
  4. Gallo.....????? I don't get it. Forget about what I said about not piling on the front office based on rumors. Yuck!
  5. I understood. I know you aren't piling on, but many are. I think we are in agreement. When I said "that's fair" I wasn't being sarcastic. I felt you raised a good point In that we have to take these things with a grain of salt.
  6. That's fair. This article has caused us to pile on the FO. While it may be fair to pile on them for other reasons, it's probably not fair to judge them based on second hand rumors.
  7. If Turner, that would be surprising. You're absolutely right. Why go after Justin Turner when they had Gio under team control for a perfectly reasonable amount? Maybe they think they can get Turner to sign for pennies on the dollars??? I don't know.
  8. I doubt he ever entertained even the possibility of coming to Minnesota. It wasn't happening, unless the Twins offered some monumentally ridiculous overpay.
  9. Does anyone know if Celestino is out of options? I doubt they bring six outfielders north, although I guess you could easily put Gordon down as an infielder. Other than that, I think this article sums up the current situation, for better or worse.
  10. I generally disagree with the premise of this article and others I've read suggesting the Twins got "played". Everyone knows Boras is willing to drag these things out, and the acquisition of Farmer suggests the front office knew they better start thinking about plan B. Bottom line is we don't know what discussions were/are taking place, and we don't know that the delay with Correa affected other negotiations. I like to think they could have afforded both Correa and Bassit, but we don't know if Bassit would have been willing to play in Minnesota, or maybe the FO just didn't think he was worth the money. I would add that nothing was going to happen on Correa until the Judge situation was resolved. Setting ultimatums would have been pointless.
  11. Never say never, but yeah, I think this is unlikely. I have seen nothing to indicate that Falvey is interested in doing a rebuild. The only scenario I can see them trading Gray is if they acquire another starter and then are blown away by a trade offer for Gray. They can always flip them at the trade deadline if they are out of it.
  12. Don't laugh, I think that is exactly how it would go down. Kepler (or other outfielder) to Yankees. Twins get Clarke Schmidt or another major league ready prospect, and agree to take Hicks and all of the $30 million he is still owed. Yankees add another quality prospect, with quality contingent on the outfielder they are sending. The Twins should have significant payroll flexibility the next few years. If they can't get the good free-agents, that payroll can be used to their advantage in other ways.
  13. I'm not losing sleep over this. Correa is a great player,........but he's not THAT good. That's a ridiculous amount of money. He will have 3-4 good seasons and then be dead wood with the Giants trying everything they can to unload him for luxery tax reasons.
  14. Yankees probably want to find a taker for Stanton's contract. Good luck with that.
  15. Aaron Judge? Surely he would waive his no trade clause.
  16. Those were some BAD draft years. They had the first overall pick the following year and took Tim Belcher, whom they couldn't sign. (Not to mention they passed on some kid named Clemens from the University of Texas.) The following year they took Jay Bell at #8. McGwire went at #10.
  17. Will the White Sox be playing their games at the Gothic Castle this year?
  18. Given the Brandon Nimmo contract, if the Twins are shopping Kepler I hope they are asking for A LOT.
  19. I'm not sure how much this affects a deal for CC. Judge's deal is what everyone has been expecting all along.
  20. Didn't they at least circle back to the Twins?
  21. Interesting trade, but are you filling one hole and creating another? Personally I wouldn't do it. Two years of Hendriks and his contract make sense if he's the final piece to a World Series, but I don't think that situation fits the Twins right now. I don't think the Twins know what they have with Larnach yet. Before he got hurt you could argue he was one of their best hitters and he impressed me with his defense in left.
  22. The silly season is in full swing!
  23. Used to love TwinsFest at the dome. Everything going on in the same space. If you wanted to sit down for a few minutes you could sit at the radio stage. They will never be able to replicate that kind of experience at Target Field. They should have it at US Bank stadium.
  24. I vote no. (Not that the front office cares what I think.) Ten years is just too long. Those 10-year mega deals rarely work out. Correa is a great player, but a lot of his value is tied up in his defense. Do you think he will still be playing elite SS four years from now? He also spends a fair amount of time of the DL. The average annual value doesn't bother me, but as others have said, a ten-year deal is just too much risk for this organization.
  25. Interesting....I saw that picture before reading the article and the first thing that came to mind was the Metrodome "troughs". On a side note, I was at the Oakland Coliseum about 10 years ago and they also had the troughs in the men's room, only they were all rusty (and I think they were also leaking). At least the ones at the dome were relatively clean. Might make a good stocking stuffer!
