When I saw the headline I immediately assumed you meant the Twins had resigned Swarzak. Given the state of the bullpen, I don't think that's as ridiculous as one might think.

It seems like a lot of pro athletes just go into self-destruction mode when they leave the game. Is it some inherent character flaw, or is it that they retire early and just don't know what to do with themselves for the rest of their lives?

I was never under the illusion that SWR was a front-line starter, but why now, and only after a couple bad months? Ober was terrible almost all of last year? Why was he given a chance to get it together but not SWR? This move would be more understandable if he was with the Yankees or Dodgers, who have other options and legit World Series asperations. The Twins, on the other hand, are struggling to fill holes in the rotation and bullpen.

Wow! This is shocking. He won't clear waivers. I wonder if something went on behind the scenes. As others said, the timing is odd given the injuries to the staff.

I blame Pope Leo. The south siders may be the recipients of divine intervention, which, quite frankly, isn't really fair.

I think we all know the answer to this. There will be no cap, and so there will be no floor, or at least no floor at the levels being talked about. Even if there was a floor, there would be no way they could start enforcement in 2027. Any agreement probably won't happen until the spring, and so there is no way teams would have time to become compliant. My guess is MLB just threw 2027 out there to get some of the players to start seeing dollar signs and to cause fractures in the union.

Josh Bell has had an ok career, but at what point do the Twins move on? His defense is awful. Can we carry a DH who only hits .216?

It's been ugly all the way around. Poor at bats, poor pitching, awful defense. Other than that it's been ok. Gotta go to bed and forget this one ever happened.

And yet if you suggest releasing him certain people on these message boards will jump all over you and claim there's no one to replace him with. Call up Gonzalez, Wallner, Mendez, Fedko.... anybody. Have Martin play center for days where Buxton can't go. A team that has trouble scoring runs cannot keep Outman on the roster.

It's only been a couple months, and this is completely subjective, but I feel Shelton has a much better feel for the game than Rocco.
