    I have the Brewers feed and they are saying how the Twins play their guys out of position. Royce came up as a shortstop and has generally played in the infield. It was a simple ground ball.

    I'm trying to think of an equivalent trade the Twins could have done to land Gausman instead of Kremer. In addition to Jhomnardo Reyes I'm thinking they would have had to add Hendry Mendez or Gabriel Gonzalez. Would I do it? I don't think so. With or without Gausman I don't think this team has enough to make a deep playoff run. I'm ok with adding at the margins to see where this goes, but you are not going to convince me to give up a top ten prospect for someone who won't help this team beyond this year. The Cubs are also assuming $7 million of Gausman 's salary, which isn't nothing.

    And it seems like the White Sox gave up about what the Twins gave for Minter. Brazoban has more years of team control. Maybe the Twins front office doesn't think he's the real deal given his age.

    I'm not sure I would. The Twins can choose to walk away from Kremer at the end of the season. Castillo still has large contract guarantees through next year, and could even trigger an option for 2028.

    I've been reading some of the comments on the Orioles fan sites. The reactions to the trade are generally positive. A lot of the fans are done with Kremer.

    We knew they weren't in on Skubal, but Kremer? Woof! I hope this isn't subtraction by addition. I'm curious to know why the Orioles traded him. They are still in the playoff picture. They must think he's cooked

    If I was the Twins GM I 100 percent would. If I was the Toronto GM I would laugh and hang up the phone.

    Yeah, I wonder how all this will affect what they do with Jeffers. I can see where it makes sense to trade him, but at this point they can't afford to lose his bat. Is Don Baylor available?

    This is the kind of trade I expected they would make. I'm not sure this team is good enough to go deep in the playoffs, but let's add at the margins for cheap and see where this goes. I expect they will try to add at least one more pitcher and I wouldn't mind seeing them add a bat. Yesterday's late inning heroics aside, this lineup is punchless without Buxton.

    Caratini is under contract next year for a very reasonable $7 million. If they trade Caratini and Jeffers walks at the end of the year it would leave Jackson as the only semi-legit catcher on the roster for 2027. Caratini isn't going anywhere.

    I don't know if I would go that far. All of their infielders are mediocre and highly fungible, evidenced by the fact they all have been playing multiple positions. That said, I generally agree with you. I'm definitely not throwing in the towel on the season butiIf they get a strong offer they have to consider it. I would prefer the pieces that come back can help them this year. For instance, if they can get a decent reliever back I think it would make this a better team down the stretch, even without Jeffers.
