  1. Kowar's minor league numbers are nothing to write home about, and he's still working back from Tommy John surgery. I wouldn't bump anyone from the 40-man for him. I'm still hoping Pierson Ohl clears waivers.
  2. I wouldn't say he's our "Least-Favorite" option. The Twins currently have too many left-handed outfielders. Would I rather have Larnach in the lineup than Clemens, Roden, or Outman? Hell yeah! But knowing the Twins, I suspect they will give those three a long leash, for reasons both good and bad. It just seems like Larnach is the odd man out, which makes me wonder what the plan is.
  3. They currently have 10 outfielders on the 40-man. Someone needs to go.
  4. I hope Ohl clears. The numbers were ugly, but he had some encouraging outings.
  5. I always wonder how these kinds of trade happen. Why Tristan Gray? Did the Twins just really want him based on the recommendation of one of their scouts? Did the Red Sox tell the world he was about to be DFAd, so send your best offer if interested?
  6. The thing is, none of the other questions really matter if they can't figure out #1 or #2. A difficult and self-inflicted situation.
  7. For those who think Jeffers will be traded.....why wouldn't a team that needed a catcher have just signed Caratini? I think Jeffers stays put at least until the trade deadline.
  8. You can tell this is satire because Falvey has never spent money on the bullpen.
  9. Well said! The problem is we have a GM who wants to show everyone he's the smartest guy in the room, yet he misses the obvious.
  10. As the article states, the flip switch doesn't always turn on right away. So why waste years developing a guy only to ship him out once he becomes a contributor, only for more projects in return? How does a team sustain success that way? This team will not score many runs, and they like to pull their young starters after five innings. A good bullpen is a necessity for the Twins to compete. They took a strength and turned it into a giant question mark. And trading away a hometown guy is just bad P.R. I really don't know what the hell they were thinking with this trade.
  11. I don't read too much into it. He could have a personal commitment. He's not under contract, so he really has no obligation to attend.
  12. It's an interesting thought. I would rather have him off the bench than Kreidler, Wagaman, or Arcia.
  13. There will be injuries and there will be ample opportunities for Abel, Matthews, and Bradley to get starts. The question is who makes the most of those starts.
  14. I remember he really stepped up in that game 163 in Chicago. The Twins lost, but it wasn't because of him.
  15. If the Twins did block him from playing in Asia, that seems a bit petty. Given his age and where he is on the depth chart, no one should stand in the way of him trying to make a few bucks while he still can.
  16. If the Phillies were willing to do a deal centered around Painter, Miller, or Crawford, then I would listen, but I suspect the Phillies are not willing to go there. As the article states, Jeffers is their only legit starter. The Twins would need a king's ransom to move him. Trading him for a handful of lotto tickets would basically be saying they have no plans to compete this year.
  17. Yes, the bullpen is a mess. Do I trust the guy who is 100 percent responsible for creating the mess to fix it?
  18. I think there's a lot of truth to that. Current prices also push young people out of the market, which is not good for the long term viability of the hobby. Whenever I go to a card show it's all middle-aged men.
  19. My experience has been that only the pre-1980's stuff holds it's value. As far as new stuff is concerned, I'll buy a Twins set off of eBay each year and an occasional pack just to rip open for fun.
  20. Watched him outduel Roy Halladay on a sweltering day in Philadelphia. He was on that day. The Phillies had zero hard contact.
  21. There's clearly a lot of confusion within ownership and the front office. They went big with Correa, and then backtracked a few years later. Did they completely miss on TV revenue projections? Were they expecting attendance to bounce back? Now all of the sudden they have money to spend again (relatively speaking). Would they have traded Duran if the front office had more insight into the potential budget? Based on the timing of how things went down last summer, ownership clearly knew that new minority partners were coming on board to help with the debt situation before the trade deadline. None of it makes any sense.
  22. Interesting, although I don't know how long you can hide someone with those kinds of offensive numbers on your bench. At some point he will have to hit in key situations. I get that a glove-first utility guy will generally not be a good hitter, but not this bad.
  23. For $10 million a year I would still take Arraez over Josh Bell any day of the week. I'm curious to see what contract he eventually ends up with. He's a difficult player to judge.
