  1. Kiersey, Gasper, and Castro due up.....murderer 's row
  2. That was a lose-lose for both sides. Maybe Gabe Gonzalez will be a contributor.
  3. Strikeout and double play. It's like groundhog day.
  4. Thanks for these great updates. What happened to Dobnak? At one point he was a serviceable MLB starter, and now he can't throw strikes in AAA. I know he had the finger injury, but it's been a few years now.
  5. I'm not losing sleep over anyone we gave up (although it would have been nice to have Cano), but no matter how you slice and dice it, it was a bad set of trades for the Twins. It was subtraction by addition. Mahle was a complete non-factor for the Twins because of injuries and Lopez was just plain bad.
  6. I generally agree with your premise of context, although I have never seen anything definitive as to why they felt they needed to move either Pressly or Berrios. This Twins FO clearly doesn't like to pay relievers, so I guess it wasn't a shock that they moved Pressly. In the case of Berrios, the rumor was that he was going to test the free-agent market no matter what. Yet, once he got to Toronto he signed an extension in the off-season, for an amount that I didn't think would have been a stretch for the Twins. How hard did the Twins try to extend him? Did he tell them he just didn't want to play here? We may never know all the details.
  7. No mention of the disastrous 2022 trade deadline? CES, Hajjar, and Steer for Tyler Mahle Yennier Cano and Cade Povich for Jorge Lopez Also Gipson-Long to the Tigers for Fulmer EDIT: I STAND CORRECTED. AS NOTED BELOW, THIS ARTICLE IS ABOUT WHEN THE TWINS WERE SELLERS.
  8. Think of all you've been missing! This past year it's not the losses so much as the way they've been losing. It's unwatchable. The errors, the bad at-bats, the blown saves, the sloppy base running....
  9. Why exactly does Correa get $35 million per year?
  10. This team just doesn't do the little things right. It's why they are below 0.500.
  11. I' m not willing to throw in the towel yet on this season. The talent is there to go on another winning streak and get back in this thing. Yes, the odds are long, but the front office needs to consider that possibility in whatever they decide to do. They shouldn't just trade rentals like Bader and Coulombe just to trade them. Their value in possibly helping the Twins make the post-season, no matter how small, is still greater than a couple of low minors lottery tickets.
  12. No disrespect to Clemens. He has performed beyond expectations and can be an important part of this organization going forward. But if he is your everyday first baseman, then this is not a good team.
  13. But would that be enough for Bader? Maybe Philly could also toss in a couple second tier prospects to even it out.
  14. The law of averages. He was so awful with the Twins it would only stand to reason that he would become Cy Young once he left. I won't take that bet.
  15. Scott Klingenbeck recently passed away. Only 54. https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/news/2025/5/29/baseball-mourns-loss-of-scott-klingenbeck To Twins fans he'll always be the guy they got for Scott Erickson. The obituaries say he was a really good guy. Did a lot with youth sports after he left baseball.
  16. Maybe the Orioles will make an offer centered around Scott Klingenbeck. UPDATE: After making this post I did a quick search because I was curious as to what Mr. Klingenbeck is doing these days. Sadly, he died very recently. He was only 54. Apparently he was involved in coaching youth sports after he left baseball. https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/news/2025/5/29/baseball-mourns-loss-of-scott-klingenbeck
  17. Has Dateline done an episode on this yet? It would probably have to be a two-parter, maybe even a limited run streaming series. Very bizarre and lots of unanswered questions.
  18. Let's say they hold onto him until the following year and then trade him at the deadline. You don't think some desperate team would have ponied up for him then? Maybe not two top 100 prospects, but at least 1 top 100?
