  1. You have seen the light and I sometimes think this way , they run it as a business , they love a profit more than they love the game ... The Pohlads are the second richest family in Minnesota and could add to their legacy and spend some of their inheritance money to bring a world series winner to the fans ... Will the Pohlads ever see the light ...
  2. If we are trading with Seattle it's might take a big bundle of prospects ... They would place high value on their pitching just like Cincinnati did with Castillo, look what Seattle gave up to acquire Castillo with 2 1/2 years of control .... The twins will want to trade for a pitcher with some control , is Kirby , Gilbert , woo , Miller better than Castillo , probably not right now but in a year or two could be ... Also mentioned as a rumor is Yamamoto wants to sign with Seattle , if they sign Yamamoto they will have some good expendable pitchers to trade , they need hitters with OPS , they want major league ready players and we have a few veterans and some excess in infield prospects ... Not everybody will like the players that are traded away for a pitcher ... I didn't like trading away arraez but Lopez proved his value and the trade worked out for both teams ... Let's make a deal for a quality pitcher and have a nice Christmas present and an energetic Twins fest ...
  3. Would be nice if they would give us an early Christmas present ... If Seattle does end up with Yamamoto , the Twins should be negotiating as we speak , ( negotiate like Seattle is going to get Yamamoto and negotiate like they wont once he signs elsewhere ) .... patience may be the virtue on what pitcher the Twins gets , seattle will want to Shed some payroll if they sign Yamamoto and a more polished pitcher like Gilbert might be available over Miller or others ...
  4. I agree he won't get the recognition to get elected his first year , how long it takes I'm not sure , maybe third ballot .... I'll supply the crow and eat it with you , if im wrong , I need a good reason to shoot one , the scavengers are everywhere looking for food here in Northern country ...
  5. You are correct that Joe took over last off season but you can bet he is asking Jim for advice or Jim is telling him , you can't make money all the time but you better make money most of the time ... The pohlads are in it to make money not to win it ... Cutting payroll with an open window is evidence that their love of money is greater than the love of baseball ...
  6. 12 mil for depth , isn't that what they were after in 2023 ... One good year of pitching out of 7 years of control ... They better give us fans a nice Christmas present ...
  7. Concur , they haven't got one deadline trade right yet , starting with Dyson ...
  8. Luke Raley was acquired by minnesota in the dozier trade with dodgers , Luke Raley was traded back to dodgers along with graterol in the maeda trade ... How Tampa acquired him , it was either by trade or the dodgers dfad him and Tampa claimed him .... Trading places can work out for each team , in trades , most teams trade for needs , some dump a player because of salary ... Yes it's a challenge to get it right , front office has done well in off season trades but has not done well at deadline trades ...
  9. And Vazquez hitting shouldn't be any worse next year ... I Like the guys defense over Jeffers absolutely ... Never know how the first season effected his first year transitioning to the Twins method , after one season getting acquainted with the Twins way , he should be a little more relaxed and hit better in my opinion ... One never knows . .
  10. California angels need pitching .... In the 2022 draft , they drafted all pitchers , 1 through 20 picks or 21 picks ... No way they are trading a stable pitcher unless they get a Cole or Verlander in trade ... Maeda sounds like he is getting priced out of our comfort zone , gray is also out of the zone too .... We need quality pitching , every team needs quality pitching ... It's difficult for all teams to find quality pitching , even the Yankees haven't had a devastating starting staff for awhile ... The twins had a healthy starting staff in 2023 that was quality and kept us in alot of game's and won playoff games ... Hopefully the FO can do it right and make a decent trade for a quality starter because they need to get it right if we are going to contend ... I'm just going to sit back and relax and hopefully twins Territory will have a nice Christmas present ,,, They have to create interest before twinsfest ....
  11. I'd it's defense we are looking for , re-sign Taylor ... But if we can trade a surplus of fringe minor leaguers as mentioned above , by all means do , but do it right ...
  12. This has been an interesting discussion and does have some logic ... I'd like to keep Polanco at second base if he stays with the Twins , spring training should work everything out ... Hit and defense ...
  13. Nice article nick , I was wrong after I re-read your article ...
  14. If , maybe, perhaps ... I do like the thought of getting a left handed pitcher in the rotation ... I just don't see it happening with the Yankees and Cortez , but the FO could surprise us ... Nothing has leaked out or mentioned from the media or FO of any rumors on who the Twins are pursuing yet ...
  15. Really the only one I would consider in free agency is Montgomery because he is left handed and we could use that in our rotation ... The free agency picture is kinda weak on pitching compared to other years ...
  16. Joe will get into the hall of fame , it's just a question of when !!! He had great years as a catcher and the concussions ended his catching days , yes he should have won a gold glove that 1 season at first base but the voting doesn't always go the way it should ( see politics for an example ) ... Cody wrote Mauer as a hometown hero , I'm not so sure he was a hero but he was a good hometown boy and I liked watching him play ... His lack of personality will hurt his voting some but it shouldn't , he wasn't a rah rah guy in leadership but he led by example , that's Joe Mauer ...
  17. Knowing the FO and how they operate sometimes , I would say no to the 3 pitchers above with only 1 year of control .. They are pitchers that would be offered a qualifying offer and Twins would receive compensation , so there is that to add back a prospect from the deal to think about ... Seattle and Miami have alot of pitching talent that are more team controllable and cheaper , I would focus my attention with them for a trade ... We do need more than just pitching , two positions of concern are 1st base and centerfield and we need the coaching to be better at getting the players to make contact in the clutch especially , coaching emphasizing fundamentals would be nice to , we need to improve in these areas ... The boom or bust theory doesn't quite work for the Twins or for me either ...
  18. The Pohlads are the second-richest family in Minnesota. The Twins aren't their primary source of income. No Pohlad, present or future, would be impacted if they chose to go into the red to invest in this team, and we won't even know if they go into the red because their books aren't public. This family is wealthy beyond our imagination and owns a constantly appreciating asset that happens to be our favorite baseball team. If they want us to believe them that they are good stewards of this multi-billion dollar "community asset," they should show some respect for the community and try to win a World Series- instead of sucking any bit of profit out of the organization that they can .... It's not the right time to reduce payroll with the window open 3/4 of the way towards a world series ... It's a business for the Pohlads , not a love interest , I agree they should spend on the team ... When in business you can't make money all of the time but you better make money most of the time .... brings us a world series Pohlads , spend some of your inherited money carl and Eloise left you ...
  19. Trivino for relief help , coming back from Tommy John surgery , pay him a base salary with incentives if he produces ... Same could be said about woodruff , no way your going to pay him 11 million recuperating from surgery but a low base salary to sit in 2024 to rehab his surgery and then for 2025 the same base salary and if he can pitch as an ace , give him incentives to work hard for ... It was mentioned by another , Dakota Hudson for the bullpen and that makes very good sense ... Nobody else on the list is needed in a twins uniform ... You can never have to much pitching ...
  20. Yes it's that time of year again for the wheel of fortune ... Most teams are looking for the right players to Let's make a deal , some front offices press there luck ... Some front offices would like to deal but end up with no deal because the price wasn't right ... Free agency is all about beating the clock and it puts teams in jeopardy of spending over the value of players ... Is it a match game , yes I think it is , offer the most money and it just turned into a match for the players to sign ....
  21. So basically they dfa'd Moran and henrique , so they are on waivers and any team can claim them , resigning them to minor league deals might work in our favor ...
  22. They probably didn't think it was a position of need , When they do think it is a position of need , they over spend and get an injured player .... Deadline in 2023 with no activity and now the mentioned payroll reduction , says we were tapped out on payroll on acquiring players at 2023 deadline ... I kinda wish falvey would have accepted an interview with Boston , and then he could have been disappointed when he lost out for the position , them he maybe could finally know how the fans feel when they are disappointed ... Have you ever heard falvey say , I love this game , I love putting together a team to win it all ... I haven't , so it's just business for him ...
  23. I would think our FO is working on trading him before the deadline , if they can't swing one , they nontender him , whÿ would they tender him and then dfa him in spring training and then have tò eat the small contract , the fo said they need to cut payroll ... I'd like to give him another year but sometimes a better player is after your job ... We'll find out tomorrow if he's worth anything ...
  24. I like Polanco , I like Farmer, which one will be here come spring is everyone's guess ... Castro over the energetic Gordon , really both haven't proved who they really are but the defense and versatility by Castro is better than Gordon ... Kiriloff , Jeffers and theibar will definitely be on the roster come april if healthy ... Acala I'm sure will be tendered since he has options and we need drpth if hes pitching well in AAA ... Two players need to go , 1 could be non tendered ( Castro , Gordon ) or 1 of these two could be tendered but traded ( Farmer, Polanco ) ... Stay tuned for Friday's deadline ...
