If roster is managed properly the team can win the division and playoff games ... If is the definitive word ... I just dont see this team being managed the right way to succeed to win against the better teams , we build a solid pitching rotation but ignore the bullpen and lineup , ( traded away 2 decent hitters last off season ) , replaced them with below average hitters as of now but with better defense ... The FO and coaching is not fundamentally sound in constructing a winning formula ... Cruz with no experience in coaching is not an option as a manager as of now , maybe later ... Look what an experienced manager like bochy has done for the rangers , they too have dealt with injuries and seem to keep winning to hold first place ... Experience is very important and our current FO and coaching had no experience as head of operations coming into the twins operation , the twins owners felt a change was needed and this is the change we bargained for , I THINK NOT .... it's how you play the game that counts , those that take a WIN anyway they can get it is only asking for a let down .... Quality baseball wins , Quality leadership matters .... Quality leadership that takes accountability for the construction of a roster ...

Good game to stay up and watch , lots of action ... Julien and Kirilloff's hitting is fun to watch , Correa heating up as the number 1 batter , Kepler is streaky and making a claim to stay on the team or adding value for being traded ... Ober didn't have a good 1st inning and I thought we might be in for a long night , he managed very well through the next 5 innings ... Thanks twins for a deciding victory , it was a team effort ....

Byron Buxton's Clock Is Ticking
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We all feel for buck and as he plays he most certainly is playing at less than a 100 % ... His injuries last year have definitely changed his swing as he swings through to many pitches with an upper cut , he needs to level his swing some to make better contact , I agree with others that he needs to look at his past years when he was driving the ball and hitting lots of doubles , even lots of singles that he turned into doubles , he is definitely not 100 % ... The front office just might be okay with buck swinging for the fences so he doesn't have to run hard around the bases .... I also agree that he should go on the IL list and rest his injuries and then rehab to correct his timing and approach and be ready for September and possibly help the twins win the division ... Buck needs to level that swing for netter contact , but again maybe the FO doesn't want him to change , it's their style and interpretation of baseball to play for the once in a blue moon homerun ...- 52 replies

Mariners 7, Twins 6: Sonny Gray Boils Down
Blyleven2011 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Grays one bad inning has been a trade mark of his this year , seems like the fifth or sixth inning he gives up a crooked number ... Buxton chewing gum during his at bat's looks like he's chewing his cud like a cow , no adjustments in his swing , that upper cut has been his downfall the past couple of seasons , His swings needs to level out to make contact better .... No comments on whether it was a winnable game or not .... My comment is the twins just can't seem to put together a long winning streak ...- 65 replies

Good start to the game than nothing until 8th inning homerun by Gallo , twice the opportunity was there through the middle innings , 10 hits but not at the right time , 14 strikeouts not at the right time either ....

This Rotation Can Be Really Good in October
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm listening right now to gladden giving the lineups ... I'll be listening and maybe watching all the way to the final out tonight ... Let me tell you about the best game I ever saw as a youngster ... Doubleheader at the old met stadium , twins are playing the Oakland A's 1971 ... Twins win the first game 9-8 ... Nightcap , twins are losing 8-7 two outs bottom of tge 9th with rod carew at second base , and who is up to bat but Harmon Killebrew , who do you want up in that situation but Killebrew , Killebrew gets the pitch and the fans roars as the ball is heading for left center and looking like a homerun , Joe rudi climbs the fence and takes away a homerun with a fantastic catch , twins lose but that was the best game loss I ever seen , Why was it the best game I ever saw , Killebrew gave it his all that night and almost won the game , his all just wasn't quite enough with Joe rudi a great left fielder catching it .... Greatest loss , I tell that story alot to baseball fans .... Best win I ever seen was 1991 , game seven of the world series ... other great memories and stories and there are tons but a few here was Jim kaat hitting homeruns to win the game he pitched all nine innings , a game with Tovar and carew stealing 5 bases in 1 inning and that includes both stealing home in the same inning ... Not to be negative of today's game but that was some exciting baseball back then ...- 21 replies

This Rotation Can Be Really Good in October
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Oh I do listen and watch and yes I would like to get to the playoffs and play quality baseball , but I would rather have a team that is hitting on all cylinders and that hasn't been the twins way of late .... I am a loyal twins fan and don't miss alot of games , I dont like posting negative responses but the past 3 years there hasn't been alot of positive baseball from the twins organization , therefore I won't get my hopes high for a central division crown only to have those hopes come crashing down .... If they win , great and anything can happen , see 1987 twins world series winners .... I hope you can tell me at the end of tge season that I was wrong ... Go twins ...- 21 replies

I just can't raise my hopes only to be let down , so if they do win the division and finally win a playoff game, I will tip my hat to them ... I have been a life long fan since the old met stadium days and the last 3 years it has been a nightmare stuck on ground hog day ....- 21 replies

This Rotation Can Be Really Good in October
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We have to get past the deadline first , Before we can talk , are the pitchers built for October ... A couple of starters could be traded at deadline for a return of prospects ... I see us seller's with no chance they can even win the division ... The hitting has not performed well enough as the pitching goes to waste .... I would rather not make the playoffs only to embarrass us once again ....- 21 replies

5 Reliever Trade Targets for the Twins
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This front office has tried and tried to build the twins , they have really failed , they fix the starting rotation , but fail to fix the bullpen .... They trade a great hitter ( spark plug of the team ) and lineup falters in 2023 ... They are not good in free agency ( adding below quality arms ) because they dont want to spend big money and they haven't done to well in the trades ( some good during the off season , but most trades have been a disaster especially the deadline acquisitions ) ... We should be sellers at the deadline , the twins can't right the ship by August 1st to be contenders because they can't score runs ... Last night's allstar game the players all had fun and laughing. , something I have not seen from our club the past 3 seasons ... Yes a change is necessary , for some players but mostly the coaching philosophy on their interpretation of baseball needs to change .... TIME FOR DIFFERENT VOICES ...- 25 replies

Week in Review: Stuck In Their Ways
Blyleven2011 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Week in reverse ... Win 3 and lose 3 , will hover around 500 for the remainder of the season and finish below 500 and for 3 seasons in arow the window of opportunity has been wasted ... For years we have had no pitching , now we have the pitching but no hitting , hard to believe the lineup will turn it around in the second half and be contenders ... We've seen 80 plus games , they are who they are unless some changes are made in their philosophy of baseball .... I don't think the FO really has a plan anymore because the lineup definitely doesn't show like it has a plan ... Another week in reverse and more to come , a 15-2 loss going into the break just killed any momentum ....- 59 replies

This has to be the worst game of the year .... No momentum coming out of the Allstar break ... This game shows exactly what we are going to get in the second half ... Sellers at the deadline and cleveland will be 5 games up and leading the division ... I had doubt that lineup was in trouble this spring but never expected it to be this bad ,,,
