What Does a Full Season of Royce Lewis Look Like?
Blyleven2011 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lewis can be a game changer , with his enthusiasm for the game if healthy , he definitely will surpass the 100 rbi and 100 runs if healthy , the way he was performing before the injury that shut him down the last couple òf weeks , he was on pace to have the most rbi's for the Twins in alot less games ... I'm not sure if he hits over 30 homeruns but it's the clutch hitting , rbi's and runs scored that have been missing in the lineup for some years now ... Don't hold Lewis back And let the fans enjoy , let him stay at third base and I'm looking forward to seeing him as a possible mvp player ... -

Miguel Sano is on the Comeback Trail
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It's Christmas , do we really have to contemplate a sano return to baseball ... I wanted something under the tree for Christmas but please I'll accept anything in the new-year instead ... Merry Christmas and thanks for articles ... -
What Defines Success for Byron Buxton in 2024?
Blyleven2011 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It only matters if he can play the field ... His hitting has suffered due to the injuries , play the field and his hitting should improve ... I sure hope the reports are accurate that Buxton will be close to 100 percent and ready to go in spring training .... -
What It Was Like Growing Up in the 1950's/1960's
Blyleven2011 commented on Paul D's blog entry in Paul Danesi
These are great stories of our love for the game ... I will ditto everyone's stories except playing in the street and tarheels alligators and snakes ... I wish me and my friends could have played in the street though , growing up on the farm we had plenty of pasture land the cows kept mowed ( they were good grounds keepers ) if the ball hit a fresh pile of manure or if you stepped in one , you just went to the water trough and washed it off ... Baseball was the game back then ... I have to share this as it is and still is my favorite memory of a game at met stadium ... Twins were playing a double header against Oakland, Twins win 9 to 8 in first game ... It's the second game that I have the fondest memory of a baseball game... Bottom of the ninth and the Twins are losing 7 to 6 with 2 outs and Carew at second base , now the next batter is killebrew , it is the batter you want up in that situation , so Harmon is in the box and here cones the pitch , Harmon hits the ball , it's a long fly to left center , we all are going bonkers that it's a homerun , but Joe rudi , an excellent left fielder climbs the fence and pulled it back for the third out ( i can still see it , it was a homer until rudi robbed harmon of it ) ... Why was this loss the best game I ever saw , because Harmon was the man and you wanted him up in that situation , Harmon gave it his all that day but his all just wasn't quite enough ( game of inches ) ... That's why even though we lost the game , it was the best game I ever saw because Harmon gave it his all ... We went away happy , a true doubleheader , basically the whole day at the park ... -
If he didn't have a mix of poor luck , he wouldn't have any luck at all ... I hope he has a great career , just not with the Twins at this time ... If your trading for a pitcher , make it an established quality pitcher ( I'm always thinking ahead for the playoffs ) , we're always competitive enough to compete for the division , but pitching wins in the playoffs ( my example , we won in the playoffs and broke the winless streak of 18 ... I don't want to start a new one next fall , get a quality starter and get him or her now when it's alittle cheaper , deadline you end up over paying and our FO is terrible at deadline trades ...
-
How can you say the strikeouts has its merits ... 3 strikeouts at target field in the bottom of the ninth inning ended the playoffs for the Twins ... Yes pitch counts might have merit but no adjustments to hitting with 2 strikes has no merit as they strikeout and no contact made ... What do we need a pitching coach for if we are just a boom or bust hitting squad ... Contact is more exciting than the strikeouts ... The strikeouts that bother me the worst are pitches that are close and the batter doesn't swing and is called strike 3 with his bat on his shoulder ...

I had never heard the Twins could have made a trade for Musgrove , must of been later in off season and I was in Texas for the winter ... That does not sit right with me if they passed on Musgrove , he resigned with San Diego for 20ml per season ...

For those that are excited about the front office , I hope you get your hope and ain't disappointed ... I have better confidence in the FO making good trades during the off season , they have made disastrous trades at the deadline ... Yes they better get it right , starting pitching and a hitting lineup is what we need , standing pat is not what we need , we need a contending team in the playoffs ...

What Could a Corbin Burnes Trade Look Like?
Blyleven2011 replied to Hunter McCall's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If you want to be a contender in the playoffs , a pitcher like burnes is what you need , high price to acquire for a 1 year rental , yes ... Polanco a switch hitter is a plus and he has been pretty consistent when healthy , he should be 100 ready to go , he's not finished with his career yet , I'd like to keep Polanco but with our surplus of infielders he is the most likeliest to get traded along with prospects ... FO, when FO makes trades they have made trades for players that have some years of control ... I don't see it happening for burnes unless they can get an extension before the trade is made ...- 91 replies

Rumor has it seattle traded away players that did not put the ball in play enough , they struck out ... I don't think we have any major league players seattle would want because our boom or bust lineup set a new strikeout record in 2023 ... Sure I would like Gilbert or Kirby but it will definitely be an overpay to get one of them ... For reference , remember what seattle gave up to get Castillo from the Reds , Twins would have to do the same , and we are not going to deplete our prospects as a mid market team ...

It would be nice to have a present under the tree from the Twins ... But if there is no present , the best next thing is for our FO , dynamic duel to come out and set it straight with the fans what our payroll will be , what they might be working on ( wouldn't have to name team or players ) , say something solid to the fans that they are trying to add positions players or starting pitching or bullpen help to shore up the teams flaws ... Get in front of the camera falvey and help us with some encouraging words ... As of now I am not thrilled to be going to twinsfest , where's the excitement going to come from , Lewis yes , Julien and a few others ...

Lewis loves the game , the fans ... Would he play for less money here in Minnesota to stay and play the game he loves , is money a motivator for Lewis , he comes from California which is a warmer climate , would he prefer a team on the west coast in warmer weather , better exposure to play for ( i don't know , but i think he wants to be a hall of fame type player , he seems to have that drive towards that goal in my opinion ) ... He has already shown alot of adversity with his injuries to perform at the highest level , has a great personality to be an embassador to the game , a great clubhouse and on field leader ... Great leaders should get the big money , Show him the money ... It doesn't hurt to try ...

Greatest Twins Teams of All Time: 2023
Blyleven2011 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Have our standard dropped that much to rate the 2023 Twins season as one of the greatest ... Just because they broke the winless streak in the playoffs and won some playoff games ... Can't agree with this rating for 2023 ... Starting Pitching was outstanding , no question about that ... People were calling for dfa' s , fire Rocco and FO , everyone was saying in their posts on Twins daily that the Twins were unwatchable , this of course was the first 4 months , last couple were pretty good ... We won the central and made the post season , swept Toronto in the wildcard series at home , lost to Houston in 4 ... Sure glad we weren't voting for a president under these standards ...- 20 replies

Projecting the 2027 Twins Lineup
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice to keep thinking ahead but trades will always change the course of the future projections ... Why no projection on the pitcher's , does a position player have more longevity than a pitcher ...- 53 replies

5 years of managing , really 4 years , he didn't have to manage hard in 2019 when the players had career years ... So in 4 years of managing , it is presumed he and the FO should have learned something along the way , but I haven't noticed hardly any changes to his or the FO's direction of managing a team ... It's still boom or bust , I would like to also see something from the gut during games when it warrants it ... It would be nice to get the players to make more contact , strikeout less , what strikeouts annoy me are the ones that the batter takes for strike 3 , if it is close you swing , teach them that or fine a batter that leaves the bat on their shoulders ... They aren't doing there job if they don't make contact and strikes out , I'd rather they try and bunt with no one on base and give the other team an easy out ... Put the team in a position to win on a consistent bases day in and day out , very few long winning streaks , tomorrow's another day approach would feel better the next day if each game ended in a win ...

Good thought on kiermaier , but let's try an unknown like Martin in the outfield , hit might be better than defense ( the word is he could handle left well and centerfield with alittlemore experience just as well , trade for outfield at deadline , it's not to expensive then if we need to fill a hole ... Getting a pitcher now is cheaper than getting a pitcher at the deadline , this in my opinion will be the only major addition the FO does to our roster , rest will come in house ... Why , because they did not add at deadline of last year and have done nothing as of yet and with the payroll reduction it's a trade for a cheap controllable quality pitcher , let's hope it quality ... There is also going to be the dumpster diving minor league contracts for depth ...

Hey Greg and Twins fans ... This is the best article written since the end of the world series , I enjoyed the read and comments ... I'm getting tired of responding to all the speculations of who the twins should acquire in trades or free agency , it's out of our hands and all we should do is sit back and see If FO makes us a winner or they just tank ... Then we can either praise or shredd them ..... I liked this article ...

Correct , I like the resign Taylor for money but most likely isn't going to happen as he will surely get a 2 plus year contract from some team ... keep our prospects and let them play , give them the chance to hit over the mendoza line ...
