  1. I also read a tip somewhere that if you're squeamish about the awkward situation of being caught when someone comes for their reserved seats, you can always go on stubhub (or resale site of choice) and look up seats that are still unsold after the game has started.
  2. "Did you see that ludicrous display last night?"
  3. Unofficially you can pretty much sit anywhere except the really good seats behind home plate. Sometimes the real owners of the seats will show up and ask you to move, but aside from that you're pretty much in the clear,
  4. I would absolutely be rolling in $4 tickets right now if I didn't have a baby preventing me from staying out late. Would love to get some deals on weekend, daytime tickets as well. Still, I really applaud the Twins for getting some star power on the team over the offseason (whether that translates to wins or not) and THEN introducing all of these great deals. There's little more they could do to grow the sport without MLB making some changes.
  5. I notice "Alex Kirilloff's wrist flaring up again" isn't on the list, so on the bright side, this series isn't even the worst thing going on today.
  6. Hard to know how to feel about this one. We were up against very serious competition and held our own... until we didn't.
  7. I have Saints opener tickets and am refreshing Twitter over and over to see if they've announced a cancelation.
  8. Sanchez's grand slam takes some of the sting out of Donaldson's walk off for the Yankees the other night.
  9. Love all the shameless base-stealing from the Saints, Royce is looking like a real pest. I hope he keeps it up. .
  10. I looked it up earlier because I was curious too, the Twins have presumably already picked out a list of players they might be interested in, and the Padres have already approved all the names on that list. When the Twins want to cash in (generally after the season at hand) they can choose any of the players on the list. Teams choose to trade for a PTBNL when they don't have an immediate need that the other team can fill, and want to wait and see what they end up needing later.
  11. I notice that the Twins now have Ober as one of four players featured on their Twitter banner. (alongside Buxton, Correa, and Sano). I'm not sure if that means they see him as one of the franchise's biggest rising stars (thus unlikely to be relegated to a relieving role), or if they just put him on there because they figured he was one of the least likely players to get traded, saving them the trouble of creating a new banner. It's also highly possible that they pretty much let the graphic design/social media teams do whatever they want, and it means nothing.
  12. I'm not specifically very excited about it, particularly losing Rogers, but for some reason this was the closure I needed for the offseason. I'm now ready to move forward and see what we can do with what we were able to get.
  13. Looking at comments on some Padres sites, it looks like they're more negative on this trade than we are over here, so I guess by that metric we've come out on top.
  14. I think they're trying to slip into expanded playoffs, but also, I've decided that it's a good idea for rebuilding teams to use their open payroll to just sign a superstar for a year to give fans something fun to watch, if they can rope someone in.
  15. Is it just me or has this whirlwind compressed fast-forward offseason been unbearably long?
  16. Yeah, I don't think anyone who really knows what they're talking about has been treating him like a defensive liability, just comment sections where everything gets blown out of proportion, particularly in a frustrating offseason.
  17. I liked seeing Lewis steal, and I liked seeing Miranda make a big defensive play after having his defensive abilities doubted into oblivion over the offseason. That gawky looking reliever for the Bats seemed pretty scary but I looked him up and he doesn't seem to have a history of being very good. I'm making a mental note to keep an eye on him.
  18. I have basically stopped worrying about Archer, I feel less apprehensive about him than I would have felt about another year of Pineda.
  19. Much like Toronto's Berrios extension, it's somewhat disheartening to see how little this took.
  20. If Berrios was still here, or if Maeda were healthy I'd call it an A. Very good moves were made, but they didn't manage to plug all the holes.
  21. Yeah, I was pretty relieved to see that he seems to have gotten his velocity and command back, even though he got somewhat clobbered, I was mostly worried about him not having the tools.
  22. Pitching through elbow trouble I believe, Dorktown is doing a really entertaining Youtube documentary series on Stieb's career right now that I've been following. Highly recommended.
  23. I think the problem this offseason falls almost entirely on the Front Office's total failure to anticipate that the period before the lockout would be a frantic Black Friday stampede on the free agent market rather than everyone biding their time to see how the CBA turned out. Every move after the lockout makes sense as an attempt to salvage something with what was still left on the board without spending too much prospect capital.
  24. I wonder if the plan is still to transition Thorpe to a relief role now in St. Paul.
