  1. I find it very endearing that the reason Sano is trying to lose weight is because he thinks it'll give him leverage to convince the Twins to re-sign Cruz.
  2. We have a surplus of (non shortstop) infielders, and we need pitching very badly. There's only one reasonable way this equation can resolve. It's an area of strength that we can afford to trade from and the need is dire. Somebody's gotta get traded. I'd prefer that it be Donaldson, but if we can't move Donaldson, the other guys are sadly expendable. If Donaldson, Arraez, Polanco, and Sano are all on the roster next spring and Miranda is still playing tee ball against AAA pitching in St. Paul, then the Twins will have failed to capitalize on a very advantageous situation.
  3. I'll miss seeing Miranda at CHS field, but I hope I never see him there again.
  4. It just struck me that the universal DH could be a real goldmine for the Twins and their surplus of hitters with no real defensive home.
  5. Two playoff games lost for the Wind Surge, they're really looking like future Twins out there.
  6. I hated to see Cruz and especially Berrios go, but trading them gave me (as a pretty new fan) a reason to care about other teams for the first time in my life, which was actually kind of cool.
  7. I like Drew Maggi a lot and really wanted this for him. He's earned it.
  8. Seems very possible. Since he wasn't a highly thought-of prospect until this year, the FO might view it as selling high. I'd personally be pretty devastated, though, watching this guy rake has been my favorite storyline of the season.
  9. I haven't been following baseball for very long, but one thing I've picked up on is that if you talk about a shortstop, somebody always has to assert that they're not really a shortstop.

    Saddest sports city

I certainly feel the frustration, but I hate the defeatist attitude that people have about Minnesota sports. When the Twins are bad, I like to speculate about the future, look for bright spots, and think about what moves they can make to improve. I hate when people let conversations boil down to "Well, that's just Minnesota sports. We should never expect better." That's the attitude of a boring person with no imagination.
  11. Can Wind Surge players be called up to the Saints after their season is over?
  12. Where's Miranda? He didn't play last night either. Is he injured or something?
  13. Can't wait to see him on the same roster as Austin Martin.
  14. If Graterol really breaks out in the future, then everyone won the trade. Until then, Twins won.
  15. Uh, what are we looking at for Kenta at this point? Are the Twins reduced to rookies/bullpen games only? That's not great.
  16. I hope that Buxton forces us all to issue apologies to him next year.
  17. Gardenhire seems to indicate that he's been let go due to his struggles at the plate, but MLB Trade Rumors notes his usefulness to a contending team. My guess is that the timing is exactly for the reason you say. He's definitely the most impressive defender I've had the privilege of seeing at CHS Field, much more fun than the times I've bought left-field tickets just to have a front-row seat for Rooker serving as a warm body. The crowd loves him too, he always had fun clowning around for people yelling stuff at him from the rail at center field.
  18. The Saints dumping Broxton is going to be hard on my foster daughter who has a crush on him. Hope he figures it out somewhere else.
  19. I think relievers are undervalued, just look at the first half of the Twins' season to see how much damage a bad pen can do. If this guy's eventual fate is to be a solid bullpen arm, that's great news!
  20. At this point in this season, good starts from young pitchers make me almost as happy as wins. Cool to see Ober solid yet again.
  21. Obviously it's time for Polanco to get injured.
  22. Scientists do not yet have instruments delicate enough to measure the shortness of the leash I'd want him on, but sure.
  23. Sano needs to ask the opposition to take it easy on us more often.
