  1. You know, I'm quite shocked that I barely care at this point that Sonny Gray is injured. Nothing against him at all, his absence just hasn't even been a speed bump.
  2. Yeah, my buddy who isn't really into baseball went to this game and I couldn't have asked for a better game to win him over.
  3. Kind of looks like Martin's quickest route to the majors is... corner outfielder. Or Buxton injury.
  4. At least it's not quite as bad as what Minnesota United has to wear.
  5. Advertising on uniforms is unwanted trash, and the money it raises won't go to players, nor will the money translate to savings for the fans. I can put up with it though.
  6. I want to be excited about some easier games against KC, but it seems like last year the Twins got pretty much exactly the same results whether they played good teams or bad teams.
  7. I hate to break it to you, but Cave is doing all he can to force their hand with his numbers for the Saints.
  8. Looks like you were able to snag some pretty good empty seats on the Twins Pass.
  9. I can only speak for myself, but as a relatively new, relatively young fan, I'm pretty confident that before I started getting into baseball, a history lesson about a past player who I'd never heard of from a sport I didn't really care about would not have piqued my interest in going to Target Field. Now that I understand and appreciate the game, I'm starting to take some interest in its history, but I think people need to learn to love the game's present before the game's past means anything to them. What did get me in the door? -Ticket prices. I had always assumed tickets must cost a lot because I heard fans complaining constantly about ticket prices. When I found out I could get a nosebleed seat for less than $20 I wanted to go. -Target Field. I was dragged to a game as part of a friend's bachelor party, and I realized that it felt very good to be at the ballpark. Specifically, I was surprised that even though I was in the cheap seats, I still had a great view. -Getting invested in the players. I had heard some hype about Sano and Buxton and wanted to see them. ***But most importantly*** -In 2019 the Twins were very good.
  10. I also read a tip somewhere that if you're squeamish about the awkward situation of being caught when someone comes for their reserved seats, you can always go on stubhub (or resale site of choice) and look up seats that are still unsold after the game has started.
  11. Unofficially you can pretty much sit anywhere except the really good seats behind home plate. Sometimes the real owners of the seats will show up and ask you to move, but aside from that you're pretty much in the clear,
  12. I would absolutely be rolling in $4 tickets right now if I didn't have a baby preventing me from staying out late. Would love to get some deals on weekend, daytime tickets as well. Still, I really applaud the Twins for getting some star power on the team over the offseason (whether that translates to wins or not) and THEN introducing all of these great deals. There's little more they could do to grow the sport without MLB making some changes.
  13. I notice "Alex Kirilloff's wrist flaring up again" isn't on the list, so on the bright side, this series isn't even the worst thing going on today.
  14. Hard to know how to feel about this one. We were up against very serious competition and held our own... until we didn't.
  15. Sanchez's grand slam takes some of the sting out of Donaldson's walk off for the Yankees the other night.
  16. Love all the shameless base-stealing from the Saints, Royce is looking like a real pest. I hope he keeps it up. .
  17. I looked it up earlier because I was curious too, the Twins have presumably already picked out a list of players they might be interested in, and the Padres have already approved all the names on that list. When the Twins want to cash in (generally after the season at hand) they can choose any of the players on the list. Teams choose to trade for a PTBNL when they don't have an immediate need that the other team can fill, and want to wait and see what they end up needing later.
  18. I notice that the Twins now have Ober as one of four players featured on their Twitter banner. (alongside Buxton, Correa, and Sano). I'm not sure if that means they see him as one of the franchise's biggest rising stars (thus unlikely to be relegated to a relieving role), or if they just put him on there because they figured he was one of the least likely players to get traded, saving them the trouble of creating a new banner. It's also highly possible that they pretty much let the graphic design/social media teams do whatever they want, and it means nothing.
  19. Looking at comments on some Padres sites, it looks like they're more negative on this trade than we are over here, so I guess by that metric we've come out on top.
  20. I think they're trying to slip into expanded playoffs, but also, I've decided that it's a good idea for rebuilding teams to use their open payroll to just sign a superstar for a year to give fans something fun to watch, if they can rope someone in.
  21. Is it just me or has this whirlwind compressed fast-forward offseason been unbearably long?
  22. Yeah, I don't think anyone who really knows what they're talking about has been treating him like a defensive liability, just comment sections where everything gets blown out of proportion, particularly in a frustrating offseason.
