  1. Buck is the protagonist of the Twins and everyone else is a supporting player. He's a hero to the Twins and a hero to this state, and his loyalty to the Twins deserves to be rewarded with a World Series ring.
  2. Winder is another good example of why I'm not too concerned about national prospect lists largely writing off our pitchers. I don't want to give the front office too much credit until we see more results, but it really feels like they've been able to spot and tap a lot of hidden potential in deeper draft picks.
  3. Extremely true, most people I know just watch a few baseball games when they hear the Twins are doing well, and maybe go to a game every couple of years because their employer gave them tickets. There may be a theoretical sliver of the fanbase in a sweet spot where they're following closely enough to know about the CBA negotiations, but their interest is fragile enough that they're ready to walk away from baseball if those negotiations seem too greedy, but I don't think it's a significant demographic.
  4. I'm SICK of the MLB lockout, and will ABSOLUTELY stop watching and supporting MLB as SOON as there is another baseball league of equal or greater size and talent level that has a team in my town! Not bluffing.

  5. Good, we can use a lot of bullpen arms if our starters are going to be going <5 innings for the foreseeable future.
  6. Polanco might not be the best defensive shortstop, but I'm really skeptical of the idea that something inherent about playing shortstop will injure his ankles or make him worse offensively. I think it's a reasonable solution, possibly the most reasonable solution.
  7. I think the drop is reasonable. He still has a lot of potential, but there are a lot of competitive prospects out there and even a small change in expectations should be enough for him to get leapfrogged in the rankings by 75+ guys. Royce's outlook is a little bit worse after the last two years. I have a lot of faith that he can still be a very good baseball player, but I don't blame any prospect ranking for deciding that a whole lot of other prospects look closer to being a sure thing right now.
  8. Yeah, I don't think the current system is going to be a conga-line of aces, but I think it has a good chance of producing enough viable pitchers to take a lot of pressure off of free agent signings.
  9. A lot of people seem apprehensive about Miranda because he's had just the one breakout year. This wasn't just a good year, though, this was a phenomenal year. Just look at the stats above! He could regress a lot and still be very good! Plus, if you want a good idea of how he might adjust to a higher level of competition, take a look at his jump from Wichita to St Paul. Yes, it's just one good year, but it's hard to imagine one better year. I have a lot more faith in this guy than I do in Martin or Lewis.
  10. I do kind of think that with the pitching FA market mostly dried up, and little chance of signing a high-end shortstop, the Twins are likely to go for an out-of-nowhere Josh Donaldson style signing that upgrades the offense without filling any particular hole in the team. I would not be surprised at all if this happens.
  11. I don't know if this year can realistically not be a rebuild year, but I am excited about a lot of those names coming up, particularly Winder, who I think is ready to contribute. I do hope I get to personally have a look at Balazovic in St Paul before he makes an appearance with the Twins.
  12. This is an incredible bargain for the Twins, and it's amazing that they were able to lock him down for so many years. Wow!
  13. I'm not sure how I feel about this but I believe in Rortvedt, and will jump at any excuse to keep Tortuga on the roster.
  14. Good to see the Twins back to business as usual with reasonable but not-particularly-exciting waiver claims.
  15. The universe really owes Royce a big one. Missing out on 2021, plus that hairline at age 22 (I say this with total sympathy as a balding man).
  16. Bringing back Simmons may indeed be the pragmatic choice, but from a fan perspective it really feels like giving up. Even if there are good moves elsewhere, it'll be hard to believe that the Twins are aiming for contention if they can't move on from Simmons. Simmons himself could also benefit from a change of scenery, and a new fanbase that views him as a shrewd buy-low candidate rather than one of the most visible scapegoats of a disappointing year.
  17. I feel like between him and Polanco, one's gotta go. The infield is a position of strength for the Twins, Sano and Donaldson have negative trade value, and we have exciting prospects making third base look like a logjam. I don't WANT to lose either Polo or Arraez. Polonco is a good player coming off a great season, and Arraez is playing the sort of high-contact baseball that I want to see more of (plus he's a close 2nd most entertaining stocky short guy on the team). Overall I think Polanco's going to contribute more to winning (and can bring in a bigger haul), but Arraez is the one I'd rather tune in to watch. Of course, if we can't extend Buxton the trade situation looks a lot different.
  18. The only time I set foot in the Metrodome was when I went with my mom to play extras in the movie Little Big League. My family wasn't really into sports. Would love to go back in time and experience a game there. Target Field is where it all started for me, though, so I'll always love Target Field.
  19. Boy, this is why I have no stomach for the offseason. Polo's an incredibly valuable trade chip who can get us what we need, but I love him too much. It'd be hard for me to pull the trigger.
  20. It sure doesn't seem like these guys have much to gain from signing on as one-year rentals while we try to get Royce set up. Can we realistically lock down any of these guys for just 2022, at any price?
  21. Plus he just needs to prove he can do it at an mlb level. He's not a struggling player like Jax or a hypothetical like Lewis. I really want to see Jax thrive as a long reliever. While he had a rocky season, he showed some exciting flashes and had a terrific attitude. It's tough not to root for him.
  22. Yeah, I think this is also why they love tall guys like Bailey Ober whose arms are so long that they add a couple of mph of "perceived velocity." I think they see that as basically a bargain when they can get a guy who gets the same results without the actual (presumably expensive?) mph stat. I'm definitely attracted to this strategy because it feels cleverer and more sophisticated than just chasing the guys who can throw hard. No idea how well it actually bears out.
  23. He played in the majors for the Rangers and Marlins from 2014-2018, and it didn't go too smoothly for him. I believe the Twins regard him as catching depth. He could get another shot if the right people get injured.
