    Saddest sports city

To blame fans for their teams poor performances is absurd. How do you expect Minnesota fans to react to the product and lines of B.S. the teams give us. I am very amazed at the great support our fans have given our 6, not 4 major league sports. Yes it's Twins, Vikings, Wild, Wolves, Loons and Lynx. I actually don't know how our area supports so many professional sports team..
  2. May the baseball gods have mercy on Twins fans if the above mentioned pitchers are supposed to be part of our starting staff.
  3. Add Kepler to the elongating list of Twins players who seem to get very little professional help from our major league coaches. I don't see a lot of player development going on here. I think Twins have done a lot of disservice to many current Twins
  4. Excellent article. I always laugh at how so many of our past players were seen as failures here but are good enough to play on contending teams. Go figure.
  5. Great comeback candidates. My take on Colome' is they may keep him next year but I don't think they should. Even though he has improved the 2nd half he literally cost this team 10 wins with his blown saves and losses. Plus I for one am running out of anti- ulcer medication when he enters the game.
  6. Love to see a couple of players get their major league debut. Avoid 90 losses? Who cares? The handling of the Twins roster this year has been nothing short of bizarre!
  7. A homerun is a homerun whether it lands in the first row or leaves the park. Yes Sano can hit them at times. But his strikeouts have been legendary. Basically a strikeout is a nothing at bat. A wasted opportunity to advance or score any potential runners. Sano leaves them out there a lot. My question is why would any pitcher throw him a fastball For a strike? Anything low and on the outside proves he has no chance.
  8. I agree I would prefer we work with our own young pitchers. However we are going to need a quality veteran or two to help out. With a rotation of 5 guys with little or no MLB experience we would be assured of losing 100-110 games next year. It would be nice for fans to know what kind of "plan" they have for the team. They don't seem to take any responsibility for how this team was put together or have a plan for the future. If they do I think fans should be told.
  9. I would think that a last place ball club with no enthusiasm, poor fundamentals, sporadic offense, poor fielding, and almost no pitching, should mean everything and everybody is on the line. To simply pencil in names next year due to name recognition, implying they are good would be very foolish indeed.
  10. Very good article. I am confident JD will be here to finish off his contract. He's given the Twins pretty much what they expected. You brought up good points. I agree with all of them.
  11. Twins lose big. No offense, no defense, no pitching. It's like a bad rerun!! No surprises though
  12. First the long winded response to the strike zone is filled with innacuracies and flaws. Also to the Yankees apologist, even several Yankee players said it was a strike. We all new it was. It passed the eye test. Umps miss calls. Jeff Nelson is just an average umpire. Umps should be held accountable for blown calls. Ball and strike calls have a huge impact on the game. The zone floats most of the game. It's just amazing how it seems to float in Yankees favor. I'm sure the umpires and MLB is very happy to make sure the Yankees win. Truth of matter is Colome' blew it and umpire Nelson had no guts to call a strike out in Yankee stadium. Pathetic
  13. Gotta love Ryan so far as he has been excellent. But let's not forget he has only started 2 major league games. That's right 2 games. Don't you think it's a little premature to pen him in as a top level starter for the next decade? Give him a chance to be who he is and keep learning before we put him in the hall of Fame.
  14. Problem is Cave has been given a "pass" the past few years. If it wasn't for the Twins being so bad he probably wouldn't be on a major league roster. It's scary when you see all these names mentioned as bad players. You are all correct. It certainly tells you how far the Twins need to go to become respectable
  15. You must be another Twins FO apologist. Look I hope Ryan turns out great. But if all he throws is a fastball 75% of the time at an average speed of 91 mph he won't last. Fleece the Rays? Get serious!
  16. I bet the FO and Jim Pohlads must laugh at all of us! Yes it appears that all they sell is hope, and wait until next year! That's been going on for a long time. Feed the fans some bottom feeding FA pitchers, an occasional major league player, and leave us thinking all these great prospects are future hall of famers. I sure hope I'm wrong but I'm anticipating another long rebuild of around 5 years or so. There is no plan in place or at least some direction as to what is going on. At least that is what it looks like to most fans.
  17. Great comments by all! I think we have a lot of people here that have a good plan in managing personnel and money. My question or concern is there appears no current plan or direction from the FO. I also don't think Baldelli is the man to keep as manager. His team shows no enthusiasm and no fundamentals. And Pohlads seem content with keeping it cheap. Remember there is no salary cap in MLB. Ownership can approve almost any budget they want. My guess is the payroll will be significantly reduced and we will see more of the same. I surely hope I am wrong. It makes for a long summer watching your favorite team serve as bottom feeders.
  18. So we have invented another analytic to judge players and team performance. The Twins have had one of the worst defensive team in all of MLB. They have been at or near the bottom in most meaningful traditional stats all year. All one needs to do is watch this poor excuse of a team to realize they are very bad defensively. I do commend the article though for it's hard research and analytical development. But I for one am overwhelmed by all the analytics. It's destroying what used to be a good sport.
  19. I've been supportive of Baldelli until the past 2-3 months. Way too many times he has left his starting pitcher in way too long. Yesterday game was on national tv. He embarrassed us all. Don't you owe it to the rest of your players to at least try to win? Albers is getting hammered and yet our so called manager leaves him in there. Absolutely disgraceful. Count me in with the fire Baldelli Group.
  20. Nice win! Colome' almost blew it again. They better not bring him back next year especially if they are looking for a fresh start. He is definitely not fresh and is stain on this team

    Just Dreamin'

Like your article. While I agree with most of it, if that's what we have for a bench as you suggest, we are in a heap of trouble.
  22. OMG. Someone thinks Buxton is a future hall of famer? Get real! He is a career .247 hitter and has played less than half of games during that span. He has had one great month that's it.i like him, and hope they can keep him, but let's not make him out to be more than he is: a good average hitter and great defensive center fielder. Don't worry, the money they save by not signing Buxton will allow them to dive in the pitching dumpster even more deeply and find some washed up cheap pitchers no one else wants.
  23. Great article and well thought out responses. The FO and Rocco gladly accepted the accolades after winning two division titles. But now they hide under analytics and injuries to explain their teams demise. You don't hear any of them taking any responsibility for the mess they have created. I actually don't think they will be fired, nor do I want them to be at this point. Maybe finally quit the dumpster diving especially for pitching. Give us some real baseball, fundamentally sound, good managing, and players that look like they care.
  24. The pitch that was " 6 inches " off the plate was an obvious make up call for the previous one that was strike 3 but called a ball. Absolutely horrible umpiring. During the game Brewers got benefit of more calls from home plate umpire than Twins. The bigger question is where were the Brewers? They will probably show up both Saturday and Sunday and dominate Twins.
  25. Excellent article!! I hope some of our prospects make it to the big club soon. I'd like to see what they can do. But it is one thing just to make it to the bigs and pitch for the Twins, it's quite another to become a viable pitcher. We have had many prospects make the club. That doesn't mean they are good enough to improve the club. The way the FO has mishandled the roster this year it's hard to be positive about their direction. What is their direction? There appears to be little.
