  1. Yes he would hit better than Gallo and probably Taylor. Just about any major league semi regular would hit better then Gallo. But I IMO the best move they could make would be to put Buxton on IL until he can play in the field. The two of them are pretty much dead weight at the plate now.
  2. I do think we need relievers. We have Duran and Jax that can be counted on. Stewart and Thielbar should be back soon hopefully. That leaves 4 more spots. Duran and Jax have been overused due to the lack of depth behind them. Even if Stewart and Thielbar come back there is still a need for at least 2 more guys that are at least semi reliable to help carry the load. In todays game it is so much 1 and done they need 3 relievers per game. and if you keep trotting out the same guys over and over again it can only lead to burned out arms by mid sept.
  3. I can go along with Gallo and Pagan, but if they get rid of Pagan they will need to add at least 2 and probably 3 relievers. Pagan is doing better in low leverage situations this year, however, due to the fact the FO did nothing to add any decent relievers in the off season he is one of the 5 or 6 relievers on the team. Kind of sad huh!
  4. Ryan just needs to work on his secondary pitches. Teams know he's around the zone and just wait on his fastball. It wouldn't hurt him to start some guys out with an off speed pitch, or throw one outside a few inches to start a guy out. Lopez needs to thro the change up more, as in past years was considered one of the best in the league. Gray needs to listen to his catchers more on pitch selection IMO.
  5. He has improved, but maybe that says more to the Twins bench this year.
  6. I can't see any meaningful trade coming this year. I don't see them trading Gray as they feel they are a real contender, and he is the one who would bring a good haul. Now I could see them making a minor trade or so. Maeda, Kepler, Gallo, Keuchel, Varland and SWR could bring some value back in some sort of package deal, but I'm not sure what kind of value would come back in return. The real need as I see it is an OF that hits lefties, but what would need to be given up?
  7. A right handed hitter? If he can hit lefties put him in the OF!
  8. If they trade for an OF, who is going to get cut or demoted? I personally would rather see maybe Martin get a shot? But again, this management team won't get rid of any veteran players, even though that's what needs to be done.
  9. Nobody in their right mind would think Ryan is going anywhere, It would take a kings ransom and I don't see any other team parting with one!
  10. I would have to look at several candidates before making a choice. I have a ton of respect for Cruz, however, with no real experience maybe start out as bench coach?
  11. I don't see Gray staying here unless he gets the most $$ here. I just don't think he's happy here.
  12. It shows me that going with the pitch instead of waiting and hoping for a mistake they can pull is a better plan. If you keep hitting the outside pitches for singles and doubles, sooner or later pitchers will come in for a pitch they can pull. Of course it also helps that guys like Julian and AK can hit the other way for real power.
  13. The boys finally have figured out there's more to hitting then trying to pull everything out of the yard! Love to see them going with the pitch to take it the other way. Lets hope Buxton was watching. At some point pitchers will make an adjustment and try to get inside more, and that's when they can try to pull more, if the hitters can also make an adjustment. Great to see the youngsters looking so good!
  14. I've been saying for weeks the guy needs to go on IL. The Twins way of trying to swing for the fences has ruined him. The guy is always trying to pull the ball, no matter the pitch. He has absolutely no 2 strike approach. If he is to hurt to play in the field he needs to go on IL. For now Wallner can DH, and when Polo comes back let Julian DH most games. I personally think a switch to 1st base for Polo would help him a lot. But since the front office and management team can't seem to think outside the box a bit, that will probably not happen. AK in left and let Kepler and Gallo (assuming they are both here for the rest of the year)can rotate.
  15. I see so many other of our hitters making adjustments to the way the league is pithing them with so many sliders and going the other way with them. Not Buxton. He is still trying to pull everything, with absolutely no 2 strike approach. The guy should be on the IL. Out until he can play OF at least in half the games, or at the very least dopped down to the 9 hole in the lineup!
  16. I don't believe Gray wants to stay here from some of his comments over the past couple years. That said, to trade him would require a pretty good return and who knows at this point what other teams would be willing to give. I can't help but wonder if the way Keuchel has pitched will influence the decision.
  17. Why not move Polo to 1st? They say it will be a lengthy rehab, so put him at 1st for a while in St. Paul and let him get used to it. The guys a great athlete so I don't think he would have a problem adjusting. It would probably be easier on his lower half anyways. Then move AK into the OF and either get rid of either Kepler or Gallo or rotate them. I don't know but probably makes too much sense for this management team!
  18. I agree about Kepler, but Polo was (and still may be) one of our best hitters and run producers.
  19. One of the biggest differences between this era and past ones are the velocity that pitchers throw with now. To keep that velo up requires pretty much max effort throughout the entire game. Thus less IP. I remember Nolan Ryan hitting 1oo on the radar gun which just amazed everyone. Now 100 is almost ho-hum.
  20. IMHO he either needs to go on IL or at least move down to maybe 9th in the lineup?
  21. So many people (including myself) want to get rid of Kepler and Gallo. But comparing a few hitting stats; Kepler .209 Avg 282 OBP .403 Slg Gallo .187 Avg ,307 OBP .473 Slg Buxton .202 Avg .294OBP .423 Slg Kepler and Gallo both play in the field, And Buxton bats 3rd at DH?
  22. My point is to get him in the OF to open a spot for a Wallner or Larnach or whoever. Or put him on IL. Does he look like a hitter to you? To me he usually looks lost.
  23. Nobody currently on the team. If his knee is so bad, I would think it effects his hitting. I'm no Dr. but I can't help but think a visit to the IL may give some rest and healing time. It would also open a spot on the roster.
