  1. What about Ober in the 1st round? The way I see the pen is Duran, Thielbar, Jax, Varland, Pagan, Ober, Maeda, & Funderburk. If they make it through then I would sub either Maeda or Ober whichever one starts, and put Paddack in their place. Then sit a position player.
  2. The changes with the bases this year has helped, though I'm a little surprised that the 2 throw overs hasn't made much difference. It seems that some of the teams have gotten more athletic, but I think it will take a few years to see how much that helps. Hitting homers is "sexy" so IMO that will still be the main goal for most.
  3. I think Ober's pitching would play well out of the pen. If he can adjust his routine.
  4. Mainly because Ryan is lined up for Game 3. Also, I would want Kenta available out of the pen in round 1. I hope they don't need him in the 1st round, but to me, he could be vital if something gets out of wack in the 1st round. Since we don't really know what the plan in the pen yet, I'm kind of guessing anyway. The 2nd round would be higher pressure I would think and that could be a better fit for Maeda, if they don't need him in the 1st. One other thing, Ryan is a big part of the future so I'd let him get his 1st post season experience just in case there isn't a round 2.
  5. I would go Lopez, then Gray, and if a game 3 is played I would go to Ryan. Hopefully we get to round 2 where I would start Maeda, even if they don't need Ryan for a game 3, due to Maeda having post season experience.
  6. Saturday was a loss IMO that was due to sitting 5 regular starters. In other words, the "B" team lost.
  7. And lets hope the umps call at least a consistent zone. I'll add that I don't know who the top K pitchers are in a year, but I can't help but think some may have pitched in a bygone era where innings piled up and guys had more starts.
  8. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see them able to keep both. I feel there is a decent chance we keep Maeda, but I think they lose Gray. I hope they give him the qualifying offer, but I think he'd like to be somewhere else.
  9. Unfortunately the games are not played on paper. I like the Twins chances to at least break "the streak" and possibly win the series. The key to me is if Lewis can play. I'm pretty sure Correa will but how well he can will depend on his feet.
  10. Wouldn't that cost a year of service time?
  11. When the trade deadline came up all the other in teams in the division ended up being sellers. I'm sure that had a lot to do with the decision to stand pat.
  12. On Fan appreciation weekend sit 5 regulars! Now that shows just how much they appreciate their fans. IMHO they should refund at least half of the ticket price to all 30,000+ that bought tickets. Total B.S. to give up on the chase for 2nd spot. Sonny said all the right things, but I'll bet he is still fuming after pitching so well. I guess He'll be going anywhere but here this off season.
  13. What a slap in the face the Twins pulled Saturday. I understand getting guys some rest but really, all those guys not starting? At home, where your own fans pay good money to see them? Shame on the Twins!
  14. The writer assumes Gray will get the 1st game but I think it will be Lopez. I'm hoping there is no 3rd game and the top 2 will take care of business. Then they can set up the rotation for the next game 1! I'm nit sure if Ober or Maeda slots into the 4 hole. Earlier I was thinking Ober, but Maeda has been pitching better than him lately. So Maeda in the pen round 1, and a starter in round 2?
  15. They could carry both Luplow and Buxton in a 3 game series, as they will only need 3 starters. I'm OK with Buxton but only as a CF, not taking up the DH spot.
  16. The thing that I see looking at their roster is too many lefties, and although the Twins have done better against lefties lately, that is still a weakness another team could exploit.
  17. They will all start at 0. While past performances can give a glimmer of what to expect, I don't put much for expectations based on the past. I am most interested to see how the youngsters perform under the pressure of the playoffs.
  18. I don't think they will be the one we face in the 1st round. I think they win the west. That leaves the possibility of Texas, Seattle or Toronto for a round 1 match up. I guess I would prefer Texas. They have struggled lately, and been bad on the road. Who would y'all prefer?
  19. I fully agree that Tingler and the trainer must have been sleeping on the play at 1st base. I was shocked to see Lewis come out to 3rd the next half inning. I hope it is just a tweaked hammy. In my youth I played a lot of ball and tweaked my hammy. Took me 2 weeks before I could play again. Lets hope with all the training and conditioning players have it won't take him that long if it is a hammy. I can agree with what Dick said last night about players getting injured running to 1st. with the knowledge about training out there, maybe something needs to be changed in their routine to strengthen their legs.
  20. Wow what a game from Castro. And to think he was more or less an afterthought in the spring. He is what I call super utility! Hope Lewis just tweaked his hammy and can return in a few days,
  21. IMO more middle or setup, not really top. Seems to have worn down a bit lately.
  22. IMO Maeda and Varland will be those guys to pick up middle innings. But yes Ober would be helpful in those situations also. Question is how many guys in the pen are they going to carry?
  23. I agree so far. However, knowing the Twins, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they would start Maeda in game 1 due to his experience. Of course that depends on how many games they win in round 1 and how Maeda and Ober pitch over the next few days. That said, Ober still seems like the pick for me so Maeda can do some relief work.
