    Larnach is going to be VERY good. With Kiriloff in the lineup as well, it will remain to be seen if Sano sticks at 1B and if Kepler becomes more consistent and sticks in RF. Either way, at some point within a year, Kiriloff and Larnach are going to raking for the Twins.

    Couldn't they just have Lewis sit on the bench in the big leagues while he's rehabbing ? He wouldn't play in any games, but he'd be around the major league clubhouse and could sit on the bench near Simmons. Is there a rule against that ??

    I think Kiriloff has an excellent chance to be ROY as well even though the competition will be fierce. Eloy Jim HAS to be rated above Eddie. They are both poor defensive OF'ers but Eloy Jim's offensive potential is certainly higher than Eddie's. If you had a chance to have either Eddie or Eloy Jim, who would you take ??? Eloy Jim. Discussion ended.

    I love this kid, and have loved him ever since he carried Oregon State to the College world Series title. He got every big hit the Beavers needed. He and Kiriloff will be hitting #3 and #5 for years in the Twins lineup.

    I think you're really on to something here. The power for Buxton was nice last year, but when you're as FAST as he is, just speaking for myself, I'd like to see him make consistent contact and improve his selectivity to see that game alerting SPEED on the bases more often.

    I'm intrigued by Telis. He would clearly be a better option than Austudillo and the fact he's a LH hitter gives you someone you could start with a tough RH pitcher on the mound. Some of these Twins pitching prospects look very interesting. Depth is a great thing to have.

    Despite all the gloom and doom that the twins didn't do enough this off-season on TD I'm optimistic. We need players like Donaldson, Sano, Kepler and Polanco to bounce back to maybe not 2019 but certainly better than 2020. I think Kiriloff will be in contention for Rookie of the Year. Taylor Rogers will bounce back. It will be a close race. The White Sox and Indians will definitely contend and the Royals might be closer to 75-80 wins, but in the end I think the Twins will win the Central. Now, I'd REALLY like to see a BOLD move made at or just before the trade deadline to put the Twins over the top this season. That was something the Terry Ryan regime could never seem to pull off. It was why, when they had players like Santana, Mauer and Morneau we were always muttering: "If not THIS year, WHEN!!!"

    I'm O.K. with this, though I would have preferred Tijuan Walker. People shouldn't sleep on Dobnak though. He induces a lot of ground balls and weak contact and with Simmons at SS and a healthy Donaldson at 3B as well as improved "D" at 2B with Polanco, Dobnak could be in for a good year.

    Arraez beginning the year in LF and at the TOP of the twins lineup should be a no-brainer. We will also get a look at how Sano starts the season so that when Kiriloff is ready to be called up we could see a lot of him at 1B as well as LF. I predict Arraez sets the table so effectively at the top of the order that health willing, he will be in the lineup about 80-85% of the time playing "somewhere."

    It's great to have him back, and like nicksaviking said, it's just a one-year deal so the Twins have almost ZERO risk. It would be GREAT to have Nellie as a Twins hitting coach immediately upon the announcement of his retirement (whenever that happens). I can't think of anybody who would make a BETTER hitting coach than Cruz.

    Yeah, this is a BIG Meh move. Five and Fly describes him perfectly. If I want a Five and Fly guy, give me Rich Hill. At least I know HIS 5 innings will be quality. I don't know the particulars of the deal the Rangers signed Foltynewicz to, but he was a guy, (like Yates out of the BP) I thought would be a signing with big upside. And I agree, if I'm going to spend any more $$ give me Paxton as a SP or Rosenthal as a Closer.

    I'm hopeful the Twins are going to sign Mike Foltynewicz to a two-way contract with incentives. I think Johnson could help him find his 2018 form and he could be a sneaky good signing.

    I think La Tortuga should be trade bait to a catcher needy team. There are players who have far more upside than him in the Twins system. He will always be nothing more than a "hanger-on" in MLB. With Rortvedt coming soon deal him for something else.

    dbminn, I like your trade. I just don't think the Dodgers would do it. Lux was at times the #1 prospect in all of baseball. He still has tremendous upside. I think he's the Dodgers starting 2B-man in 2021. Would you rather have Polanco or Lux ? (I'd take Luz). I'd hate to part with Larnach but with Kiriloff (and that Kepler will probably be in RF for several more years) it comes down to Larnach and a prospect in Duran for a proven Major League SP in Gonsolin (I'd ask for May and settle for Gonsolin if need be). The Dodgers have so much. Surely they could part with some of it.

    Guys, I "think" I'm a little younger than you (graduated college in 1980) but I appreciate what you're saying. Bauer will now make more $$$ than 3 MLB teams entire 26 man roster. The MLBPA loves the idea that baseball is the only league that doesn't have a salary cap. But the reverse of that is, the owners do not have a mandated "floor." No league should have one-player making more $$ than 3 of their team's entire 26 man roster. THAT is the definition of INSANITY !!

    This is why there should be such optimism for the Twins. No one expects a return of 2019 with a new season HR record. But they have SO MANY players primed to bounce back: Garver---The article says it all Sano---30-35 HR's is NOT unreasonable. Must make more consistent contact. Polanco---He's just a good hitter. 2020 saw him flying open from the left side repeatedly. Hopefully playing a lot of 2B will keep him healthy. If he's healthy he will be productive. Kepler---I think 2019 is what we should be expecting out of Max. He has the talent. Buxton---As Eris stated, if Buxton plays 140 games the Twins will rejoice !! Donaldson---This guy is too good not to have a major impact. Like Buxton, MUST STAY HEALTHY. Simmons---also must stay healthy. Last 3-years have been tough. His "D" is elite and his bat will be O.K. Arraez---If he hit at the top of the order and had 600 PA's he'd score over 100 runs. He would possibly lead the league in runs scored. HEALTH is critical. Cruz---I don't expect Nellie to be "All World" like he was in 2019 or even 2020. But he will be good and he will need rest and probably spend a couple of weeks on the I.L. Those are just the hitters. HEALTH is the bedrock necessity for all of them. And for the fun of it---here's one Wild Card for 2021. ALEX KIRILOFF !! He's got the talent to win Rookie of the Year. That would make a HUGE impact.

    I'm a Twins fan FIRST and a Dodgers fan 2nd. (goes back to childhood). While I'm happy Bauer chose the Dodgers over the Mets (because he's pretty good) I think the deal is CRAZY !! Bauer is NOT Jacob deGrom. Bauer has been very good in 2 of the last 3 seasons but his overall career numbers are somewhat pedestrian. Maybe he's ready to turn the corner for a number of years of sustained excellence. But those kind of contract numbers are something only the Dodgers, Yankees and maybe the Mets and Red Sox can "absorb" if it doesn't work out. Bauer is now set to make more than the entire 26-man rosters of 3 teams. (The Cleveland Indians are one of them). That's just CRAZY.

    I'd still like to see a Paxton signing so I'd vote for Tortuga. With Rortvedt getting close I'd rather hang onto Blankenhorn and Gordon for now.

    Agree Seansy, especially if Kepler is going to be a Twin for the next 5-years. Plus, there are other, very young, toolsy OF'ers in the pipeline. Castillo is clearly the best, I might put Marquez ahead of Gallon on talent, but Gallon has the lower salary commitment and is also very good. Larnach will be a pretty good player, but between now and next off season will his value go UP or DOWN ?? Adding good young pitching is NEVER a bad move.

    I agree with rdering Lineups full of sluggers FAIL. You need tablesetters. Arraez is a tablesetter. Put him at the top of the order and watch him score 100+ runs. Do the math. If Arraez gets on base at a .380-.400 clip then Donaldson, Cruz, Kepler, etc... will be knocking him him. And I agree with jiminy! Why do we have to stop now?? Teams that are aggressive will set themselves up to be very good in 2021. If you can sign Paxton for $10-million do it ! If he pays off big time he may find he like it here. Then the Twins have a pleasant decision to make---how much are they willing to pay a player like Paxton to stick around ??

    I wondered if the "Twins have made an offer to Ozuna" story would be a kick in the pants for Cruz to sign. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But Nellie signed...

    This is good news. While I initially back in November said the Twins HAD to sign him, differing opinions with good arguments behind them swayed my thinking the other way. One-Year $13 million is probably fair, as Dante's pointed out Nellie probably out-performed his contract the past two seasons. If this puts the payroll at $125 million do they have $10 million yet to play with ??? I'd like to see another starting pitcher. Go Big with a Paxton signing or go small with Foltynewicz ?? I'd be happy with either as I think Folty is a good gamble. One more arm for the Pen? The impact guy would obviously be Rosenthal. Colome or Clippard would at least be decent. The St. Louis Cardinals payroll is about $160 million---even after acquiring Arenado. Is St. Louis a bigger TV market than the Twin Cities ? (NO) Are their owners richer than the Twins owners ? (NO) What's holding the Twins back from being a "serious" Baseball Team like the Cards?

    The PECOTA projections for Nellie do not infuse me with a lot of optimism. To me, that's pretty pedestrian production and would constitute an over pay with a LOT of risk (he'll be 41 years old this season). Ozuna seems like a MUCH wiser investment at this point and he could even play some LF in addition to being the primary DH. Duval looks like a "cheaper" but very attractive and cost efficient option. I've been pining for the Twins to sign Paxton all off season. They should get him. An addition of Paxton and Duval would be good. An addition of Ozuna AND Paxton would be tremendous !! And would quite possibly thrust us over the White Sox as the dujour pick to win the division.
