  1. Front office people went elsewhere under the Ryan regime. Kriviski went to be GM from assistant. Coaches always seem to be on the move. About the only coaches under either regime that was promoted to manager was Gardenhite and Molitor. Levine is under consideration. That is not hired. The old regime was what it was. It met the desired goals of Carl Pohlad. The added bonus what’s a competitive team. Yes they lost in the playoffs. Over the same time period the end result was better than what the Reds or Orioles have produced. Keep in mind the core of the current team is still from the previous era
  2. Any free agent it comes down to price tag on signing them. Some players were not in the club’s eyes what they might get in arbitration. In a multi billion dollar industry even a few million here or there matters. Which ones do you sign is still based on the price tag. The top players will get their money. With more bottom tier players available there may be more make good contracts, otherwise know as minor league contract with an invite and an opt out
  3. With bat first players available it does bring the price of Cruz down. It should put some pressure on him to sign before the team moves on. You might not get the same production but the team might be able to add in better pitchers
  4. When Castellanos can get a 4/64 contract there is always a chance as a free agent Rosario could make a big paycheck if a free agent. Granted it would take a mediocre team thinking they are on the cusp of being good. There seems to be one a year. Being non tendered is a risk, but it could be the agent’s game plan A team could give up a few 13-14 ranked prospect types for a year . Again, all it takes is one overly optimistic GM. One year at 10-12 is still cheaper than 16. A trade is always a decent probability The agent could fill strongly about the numbers and think they can win at arbitration and thus not negotiating a team deal. I don’t think a team friendly deal would be in the works.
  5. Escobar turned down an extension with the Twins. There return was more that generous for a half season rental.
  6. The Twins as well as every other club looks for a bargain. Any of them on a minor league contract with an invite would be such the deal that the Twins should look for. Actually improving the club should be the goal
  7. Rooker shares something in common with Dinkleman and Wade. May his career not share their trajectory
  8. Cruz needs runners on base ahead of him and fierce hitting behind him to stand any chance. Does it really matter at the half way part of the season. Gosh, a little hot streak and he could be batting .400
  9. I wouldn't call Bradley an Ace of any type. One great year, a couple of good years makes for a nice pitcher to have, but 2017 laurels are ancient history
  10. I do not think that anyone thought that Celestino would be a superstar.
  11. Bailey to the DL opened a spot I think is how it worked
  12. 08/03/20 Minnesota Twins optioned LF LaMonte Wade Jr to Twins Alternate Training Site. 08/03/20 Minnesota Twins selected the contract of LHP Caleb Thielbar from Twins Alternate Training Site. 08/02/20 Minnesota Twins placed RHP Homer Bailey on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 29, 2020. Right biceps tendinitis. 08/02/20 Minnesota Twins recalled RHP Sean Poppen from Twins Alternate Training Site. 08/01/20 Minnesota Twins placed RHP Zack Littell on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 31, 2020. Left hamstring strain. 08/01/20 Minnesota Twins recalled RHP Jorge Alcala from Twins Alternate Training Site.
  13. The pay structure in baseball does not appear to inhibit people from playing the sport. I should have included the post you responded to because his rational was Kyler Murray and football. Does the pay structure of MiLB inhibit diversity? I don't know. I really can't find statistics of the makeup of minor league ball. Does the shorter path to money in sports by playing football or basketball have an impact? I can't even speculate on that one. The socioeconomic status of the families does have an effect on what sports kids play and develop an interest in. MLB does do work in that area. At what point does a kid go from playing a sport for the love of it and it becomes about the money they make?
  14. To compete with the pay structure of pro football the MILB costs would be enormous. Peasant wages, minimal wages, even average for American household income wages does not compete with 35 million.
  15. The issue of front office makeups and player populations are two different issues. The barriers are far different. Front offices are about who is given opportunity. Player percentages is about the talent flowing into baseball. That is a completely different set of circumstances.
  16. Half of the white population is also female, hence your math is off.
  17. The quality of the pitching staffs of KC, Detroit and Chicago in a smaller sample size will make the biggest difference in The Who is number 2 debate.
  18. With fewer games maybe Buxton can actually play a whole season.
  19. Jake Reed's window of opportunity may be coming to an end. Windows of opportunity is an interesting concept, yet it is the door slamming shut rather than the shades being drawn. The phrase curtains for you refers to a stage. It would be likely he gets a few AAA curtain calls but due to age and no MLB time it may only be one
  20. The over under number on players testing positive must be high. It would appear that the roster is the 40 man plus 20 players that could be used. After shuffling through 50 players last year the FO might have thought with the positive testing numbers growing, all of the 60 man will be needed
  21. I did not debate his worth. Span had offers. Like every other aging player his skills have eroded. His worth is set by the teams. He had become the one year player. Some players will play on, some won't
  22. Span did not want to play for league minimum. It is what it is. The lack of a major league job was his choice.
  23. For the college senior they might be able to get 20k rather than 10k , It hurts the couple hundred juniors drafted between rounds 6 and 20
